Meet Jamie Anderson Touring since the eighties, singer-songwriter-parking lot attendant Jamie Anderson has played her warm and witty songs in hundreds of coffeehouses, concert halls, colleges and festivals in four countries and forty-seven states. She has eight albums including her newest, "Three Bridges ". Her music has been featured on "Good Morning America", the "Dr. Demento" radio show, NPR's "Car Talk", and stations all over the world. Jamie loves being a musician, so she doesn't really park cars, but her mama said she should have something to fall back on.
Jamie's a confused folk singer who dabbles in several genres - witness the fun bluegrass romp of "Felon," the bluesy "Her Problem Now ," and "Drive All Night," an almost-country number. "Beautiful ,"is a tender ballad about body image, and "My Dad Loves to Sing,"about the musician father who is her greatest inspiration. "Three Bridges" is a thoughtful tune about finding strength while"Grace" is a story about two girls falling in love at church camp. Hallelujah.
Hi--I wanted to send one more reminder about this unusual opportunity to hear an expert in world music and then to participate if you wish. We'll have some quality snacks, wine and apple cider, too. See you Tuesday evening if you can make it. dh

variety of world, folk and percussion instruments. He plays his own
brand of cross-cultural, environmental music in a very freeform and
spontaneous way, creating a joyful and rhythmic celebration of the
world's diverse cultural heritage. David's music is strongly
influenced by his fascination with primitive instruments, most notably
the Australian didgeridoo that soulfully embraces the nurturing spirit
of Mother Earth.
David often collaborates with other musicians. In the second half of his In-Didg-In-Us program, you are invited to join David in creating a community musical experience. Bring an instrument. Join the Circle.

Acoustic music in the front room, snacks in the dining room, earnest
conversation and celebration everywhere.
If you've taken part in this tradition, you know the ritual:
- Musicians come and go throughout the evening, sharing tunes and talent
- Some folks stay 'til the ball drops; others drop by as schedules allow
- There's plenty of food and drink, but bring something if you'd like to share
- If they're your friends, they're ours--bring 'em!
- Plenty of parking next to our house (SW corner of 62nd & Oxford; just
east of the Glendale Mall)
We hope to see you for this post-Solstice celebration to usher in a great new
year for all of us.

If you'll be in Indy on Thanksgiving weekend, here's a way to show your gratitude. (And read to the bottom for a nice surprise.)
Each year, the Indy Folk Series holds Open Mic Night on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, with proceeds going to a worthy cause. This year it's Prevent Blindness Indiana (www.pbeye.org). Our theme is "Vision and Insight"; look for heartfelt offerings from an array of established and up-and-coming performers.
Open Mic Night gives both seasoned and rookie musicians a chance to try out new material, stretch their wings or just enjoy a relaxed performance venue on behalf of the cause. We'll have tasty snacks, coffee and wine,as usual. The atmosphere is something special, with checkered tablecloths and candles on the tables. Please tell your friends and plan to join us if you can. Open Mic Night 2007 will be one to remember!
See you then, music lovers!

If you caught David Mallett (April 19), you were a part of something memorable. That was a special night, wasn't it? We had fans from several states who love David's music but don't often get to see him in person.
THANK YOU for supporting live acoustic music. The IFS mail list has been growing, so we know we're connecting with people who treasure the whole gamut of acoustic and folk music. Tell your friends to sign up at www.indyfolkseries.org.

This is shaping up to be one of the best. Fans from far and wide are coming to hear DAVID MALLET this Saturday at UUI (details below). David is one of America's great singer/songwriters. If you don't know his music yet, aside from The Garden Song, come and find out why.
The media have noticed, too. Check out David Lindquist's item in last Sunday's Star (Indy Sunday section, page 4). Paul Pogue will run a piece about David Mallett and the Indy Folk Series in this week's NUVO . THANKS to these writers and their editors and employers, who are helping spread the word about the live acoustic music we love.
Doors open about 6:30 p.m., and this figures to be a sellout. Plan to be early, enjoy the people and Chef Eric's snacks, and then settle in for a memorable evening of music.
