Why Simpson and Lachey Haven't Filed For Divorce

Jessica Simpson has been flying solo recently , but she has yet to file
separation papers from husband Nick Lachey.

Harvey Levin, the managing editor of TMZ.com has learned that Simpson may be
rethinking the high-stakes separation.

"I don't think she has the stomach for a divorce," Levin said. "She made
$850,000 at a concert this week, and you'd think since Nick would be entitled to
half, she would have moved to protect her finances."

"There is no anger," Levin continued. "They are e-mailing each other. It's
really hard for them right now, especially Nick."

But if the split does end in divorce, it could turn into the big bucks breakup
of the year. Nick and Jessica's assets include their $3 million "Newlyweds" home
in Calabasas, Calif., a $1.25 million Las Vegas condo, matching black $84,000
BMWs, a $75,000 Land Rover and Nick's $785,000 Ferrari.

Jessica has made an estimated $35 million this year, some of which came from her
cosmetics and clothing line empire.

But that's not all. Simpson recently told us, "I have a workout video coming
out, and I have a show line that's adorable."

Famed divorce attorney Raoul Fleder told us the split could be a goldmine for
Lachey. "We say California is a 50/50 state," Felder said. "My guess is she's
crying her eyes out that there is no pre-nup."
