I went to the "party" concert for Kamijo's birthday. Not sure what to
say... It
was good, as Lareine's concerts always are. Izabel Varosa opened and they did
really well, playing with extra energy. This was a little odd because I can't
think why Izabel wouldn't put that kind of "oomph" into their ordinary event
shows, except that maybe they feel more relaxed and comfortable in front of
Lareine fans than, say, Panic Channel fans?
And Lareine was good. Kamijo was in a "I'm going to wear all my
costumes!" mood
and changed 5 or 6 times. They played the new song "Darkness" (recently
released on "Anamorphosis"). Lareine has been playing "Darkness" since
February or March (I forget ^^;) and always did it with basically the same
arrangement, but the CD version is a little different and has some background
effect noises which they included live for the first time.
They did the "Bonjour Honey" song... I can't even begin to describe how
bizarre
and funny this is. They played it for the first time at the 6/30 show at
O-West and have continued to include it in shows since then.
Basically, it's a
musical backing track of '70s-style disco lounge, unbelievably cheesy, over
which Kamijo says "Bonjour Honey" for a "Hi Honey!" or "Hi Darling!" response
from the fans. (ROFL) "Bonjour Honey" is so funny even on its own and when
it's got such a fruity musical background and fans shouting "Hi Darling!" it's
deadly. XD
The others had solo things too. Mayu did his heavy metal dance song.
That has
a backing track over which he plays a solo, and then he sings. At the 6/30
show Kamijo and Kazumi were backup dancers for this song but on 7/19 it was
just Mayu. Emiru had his "Yosei no Kuni" thing but I can't remember what he
did for it, sorry. Often he brings one of his dogs (he has two little
Chihuahuas) out on stage at the end of this but I think he didn't do that this
time.
Kazumi did his new drum solo. His solos are always interesting because
he uses
support music, not just plain drums, and they're very energetic. In
the middle
of his new solo he takes a break to "check his makeup," which is very funny.
There's usually something special about Kamijo birthday shows. This
one was my
3rd. The special thing for the birthday show he did with New Sodmy was
photos-OK. For the 2003 Kamijo/Mayu birthday show, Lareine had an all-night
uchiage after the concert at which fans could talk to any of the members
casually, and we all got to take a Polaroid with them at the end.
This time, after the show, Kamijo went out to stand by the goods table in the
exit hallway to personally receive his gifts and thank everyone for coming.
That was very nice of him. It was a little embarrassing handing the
present to
him in person; I hadn't expected that. He was very gracious, though.
But I was
reeeeeally glad I did bring a present because it was even more
embarrassing for
the fans who had nothing (not even a card) to give him. (LOL)
