BTW, the website (www.jamesmcmurtry.com) lists the locations. Check
back there often for more dates. IF, and I do mean IF, there's a
European tour, you'll see it there first. M

May sound like a silly question, I'm european and that's my excuse but
where is that Granada theatre, not that I can get there or anything but
I couldn't pinpoint the location any closer than |somewhere in America|
on the website so I was wondering.
I'm new here and have a yahoo global political group and we love him
there so I came to take a look, post stuff like this when it's near any
of our members, say hello to you fans, if you are fans of his you must
be alright in my book. So Hi everybody here.
So can you tell me where this is please?
Thankyou,
A.

I sent him (Joel) an e-mail earlier this evening and asked what was up because I
had read somewhere that he was going to be using the third floor of a new
restaurant on Main st. in Ellsworth called The Main Grind for music groups and
then I go check this out and it's him doing it. I was surprised! There are
actually tourists in Bar Harbor all year round now, but not totally invaded.
Nice to know you are still in the loop.
Take care

   Good for you, Carol!

Wasn't sure if you were aware that Joel & Josh Raymond have moved on from *The
   Grand*, or not?

May 4th will be great--before the tourists invade....

Here's their primary portal--sign up for their e-newsletters on the lower
left side (if you have not done so as yet); & check out the accompanying
   left sidebar links, too.

Joel & Josh [Raymond]
are scheduling concerts @different venues throughout ME, Carol.

Add yourself to their email list (lower left sidebar). They were savvy to
snatch the former email list before they resigned in Dec.!

http://tinyurl.com/2neu7r

Some are in Bangor, Camden, Bar Harbor; upstairs, over the old brick Masonic
Hall in Ellsworth (it's a former ballroom)--upstairs, over what's now *The*
*Main Grind. *Correct, Carol.
*
*I'm not necessarily "in the loop" (I have no social life to speak of, aside
from an occasional live music event; and most are booked only during the
summer season)!

However, I had been wondering whether nor not Joel & Josh would spring into
action, re: booking James & the guys somewhere (relatively soon, after
release). They most certainly did.*
**
*In addition, there's an outdoor concert (3 days) in early Aug. @the Blue
Hill Fairgrounds (fingers crossed, re: no inclement weather)!

Any of you folks traveling to Maine from out of state--adjust time off
accordingly (as well as book lodging in advance, etc.). Mid-July until end
of August is "peak tourist season" ($$$$).

May 4th will be good--not warm yet (or terribly expensive), but also is not
packed w/tourists, traffic, (and blackflies).

Riding thru the park is also free during that time of year. Bring digital
cameras; and warm clothing (layers).

http://www.acadia.national-park.com/info.htm

Hit all the links on the left sidebar, Carol--all sorts of musical goodies
are happenin'.

Take care,

Holly

Thanks so much,I have quite a few group members in texas so I'll be posting this
for sure.
I'm in Holland (for now) I'm English.
A european tour would be great though he is probably not so well known here
yet to make it a success, however the european TRUTH movement is coming together
in Amsterdam THIS weekend and on the agenda is European TRUTH concerts, where
when and most importantly the music. I'm on the panel so I'll mention James and
see what the reaction is, see if we could afford him. Probably not but worth a
try.
   So thankyou Mary,

A, a little bird told me that there is thought of a European tour later
this year, and approaches from promotors might encourage that thinking.
So give it a try. Contact High Road Touring. The contact info is on
the home page of www.jamesmcmurtry.com, left-hand side under Contacts.
And good luck! M

I could definately use a shot of Austin MFing, Texas. I'll see what I

Not yet confirmed (signed contract not returned), but it is likely
correct based on what I know. There is definitely a LONG tour shaping
up, the Maine and Indiana dates being the first official notice of
it--see the web site. Since James's mother lives in VA last I heard,
it's likely they'll stop there. M

James McMurtry always sells out in Maine, unless it's in that big ole field in
Bangor! I'm not sure how big the Criterion is, but someone told me it was
comparable to the Grand and maybe even bigger because it has a balcony.

877 max on the fire code, Carol (great acoustics & architecture , also).

No obsessing if the weather is inclement, either. *cough*

Combination Cabin Fever Reliever/Mud Season extravaganza for the natives.

I emailed Shelby @Food & Medicine this morning...hopefully, they'll email

communications & outreach @FAM these days.

No problem in filling *The Criterion* during early May! Esp. once
*WKIT*promotes it.

In addition, *The Grand* has nothing competitive scheduled in May (beyond
what Joel had previously booked before he & Josh resigned last
mid-December). Their volunteer Board of Directors are flying solo for now.

Hey Sara:
I just did a little research and the Criterion holds almost a thousand people,
so it's bigger than the Grand. The Grand holds about 550.
James likes small venues so he will be nervous and edgy. We will have to get at
him before the show and smooth him out.

Hey Holly:
Why are you so up on this stuff? How do you know WKIT is going to promote James
in Bar Harbor? It's not the Grand. They did it for the Grand because it's non
profit and so is the Criterion but I didn't see anything on the WKIT website
that would make me think they are promoting this venue.

877 max on the fire code, Carol (great acoustics & architecture , also).

   http://www.criteriontheater.com/history.html

No obsessing if the weather is inclement, either. *cough*

Combination Cabin Fever Reliever/Mud Season extravaganza for the natives.

   I emailed Shelby @Food & Medicine this morning...hopefully, they'll email
blast members, STAT. Not sure who's responsible for mass
communications & outreach @FAM these days.

No problem in filling *The Criterion* during early May! Esp. once
   *WKIT*promotes it.

   http://zoneradio.com/wkit/index.shtml

In addition, *The Grand* has nothing competitive scheduled in May (beyond
what Joel had previously booked before he & Josh resigned last
mid-December). Their volunteer Board of Directors are flying solo for now.

Yes, how you guess!?
My mom is Irish (Dubliner), my dad English (northerner) with an Irish father
himself. I'm from Liverpool.

Is James Irish? He must be, I'd never thought about it but of course the Mc is a
dead giveaway, as mine is, LOL!, his music certainly has some Irish influence,
my guess is he's from Belfast roots.
Grtz,
A.

AWWWWW!!!!! Too bad Linda! Well, Steve'll have fun and you can live
vicariously through the rest of us!

I seriously doubt there'll be any advance tickets for sale--the
Continental doesn't ordinarily sell tickets in advance. It WILL behoove
us to arrive early that night so we can stand a chance of getting in.
Shreve and I actually had to wait in line there the last release party
for someone to leave so we (and others) could go in. AND Alejandro is
playing, so the club will be packed all evening. Plus, you'll love
Alejandro--have you seen him before? So get there early!!!

Where are you guys staying? Austin Motel again, Belva? M

Greetings to all the newbies, from Austin Texas!

James's music speaks for its self ...large, small crowds it really doesn't
matter
they soon get the message. I like the cajun influence in his music because it
makes
me wanna moooovvve. Happy to hear some Europeans on the board/on board. Carolyn
wonderland goes to Amsterdam once a year and it's a small crowd but we had a lot
of
"musical" fun.
Hope to see you soon-Hopen u binnenkort-Hoffen, Sie bald zu sehen-
