I want to put this down before I forget it. James was magnificent to night
...maybe the nectar fo the gods had something to do with it but I really don't
care if he has a girlfriend or even were married. The guy just turns the key so
to speak.

I will try to remember the songs but was living in the moment so it's hard. He
played, red dress, lobo town, damn it to hell can't remember the real
name...coyote song,chocktow bingo,Fraulein O (love that song),Restless (not sure
that's the real title..i think of it as the horse song," with a side step she
can get clean away from me" ...yeppers that can happen real quick. Sorry folks
that's all I can remember.

He was extremely talkative tonight which I liked ...he said he had gone to a
radio show with Riley Hubbard ( not sure that's correct) but he was at a show
and it was a country show I know that and three sponsers pulled the plug on them
because james sang the Ruby and Carlos song. I thought ok, maybe it was the
coming up dry with the fingers or the VA hospital something substantial, but
nooooooooo, it was because of that rebel rouser Tim's line. "down past the dumb
ass dixon line"! How f...king retarded is that????? seriously some people have
their craniums up the crevice that holds organic fertilizer!!!!

I can't believe that sh...t! Maybe i"m too liberal but how can a person even
think like that? They have been so conditioned by tribal values they can't even
think independently anymore. That's not only narrow minded but it's seriously
scary.

In my opinion (and it's only that) one can look at the "truth" and still hold on
to the myths if it makes your life easier, happier and more fulfilling but don't
be naive about it and pretend it isn't so.

Ok, off my pedestal...he wore his dress black pants, black boots and his mexican
beige shirt (too baggy for his fine chest) and his beige hat with the black
ribbon on it.

Kelly I'm sorry girl but he is one fine dude! and I like looking at him and his
clean shaven cheeks are kissable if only in the imagination.

The waitresses Clara, and the cute one with the cute body danced on the speakers
tonight they were a great addition to the show and made it more lively..kudos to
them.

My friend Josh was MIA probably poker game. Some other regulars were MIA as well
but it's ok, getting a new younger crowd that appreciates his music and
danced...some of them made fun of the way we dance...f..k'em if they can't dance
any better, they are just jealous!

When I asked Tay if it was just me or did James look really hot tonight she said
"yeah, he does but it's probably because he has an empty nest with his son in
college and more time with Kelly...shit that girl can ruin a wet dream in heart
beat. ( happy face).

Take it easy peasy and have a happy Easter! Shalom!

I get these emails along with fifty million others, and read them every now and
then cause I check in on fb and webpage, BUT girl you had me rolling!

And I know what you mean about the man being hotter than a red hot poker in a
coal fire, cause he just does something to ya. Maybe it's the intense smolering
of the eyes and your'e left wondering who is that masked man? But yeah, I get
it.

Thanks for putting it down. Have only been to CC once with Mary and Belva and
some of the gang for a CD releasee party a few years ago. Miss the Austin scene
big time.

Hoping he gets to NC soon, but I'm seeing one festival in Asheville that cost a
butt load, and nothing in Charlotte or Raleigh. I live in hope and die in
despair....

Happy Easter to you too. And Shalom.

Heidi you are too funny! Love reading your messages after a wednesday
night gig!
I agree with you about James' sex appeal. He seems to be getting more
handsome as the days roll by.
For my birthday my son's gf made me a collage of James' photo's.(16x20)
maybe bigger. I admit it was my favorite gift!! My husband asked where I put
it, as he was on the train and not home yet, And I said in the bedroom!! :)

Happy Easter!

I agree, stupidity and ignorance are all too common. That would be Ray Wylie
Hubbard, one of the finer Texas songwriters ever.

Well Beverly and I got there early so we could get a table but we scored even
better...right next to the stage! Beverly chatted with a guy in line who came
down from Dallas to see James. That's impressive.
She got the information while I just sat and ate my McDonalds dinner at a table
near by. His favorite song is Buffalo song. We all sat together and danced in
our chairs. Bev mentioned the group of four women at another table that didn't
even move an inch and "how could they sit there all night and not move?". I told
her that the one lady had tears rolling down her cheeks on Fireline road song.
If you can move someone to tears just by telling a story in a song that's
success.

I really tried to remember the songs but as usual I get drawn into the moment
and let it all fade with strumming of the guitar. He played (not in this order),
Fireline road, Levelland, Delaware, Buffalo song, Choctaw Bingo,Ruby and Carlos,
Rachael's song, some song I didn't recognize probably from an early time
pre-heidi (I think he spoke spanish in it and something about San
Antonio),Wasteland, and more but did came back and played another song Peter Pan
when he got a standing ovation from the audience. They had been enchanted by the
wizard of story telling.

Dress-same as CC..it still looked good on him and no one noticed since it was a
new crowd.

I took pictures for myself and will share on here if they come out. The first
one was of his foot in the black cowboy boot and his glass of water, the next
one was of his foot with a glass of water and a tequila or whiskey (beer woman
no clue), the next one was with his foot and the tequila glass, water and a
beer. I love stories as the night wears on.

He told the story again of Hubbard show and this time explained that they got
offended by the misinterpretation of the line "down be low the dumbass blah,
blah.. as "blow the dumbass blah, blah." He said it would take a long time to
blow that many people and laughed. The visual in my head was pretty funny
too..worse than a sausage fest. This is kinda like how For all you know got
translated into "Frauline O". I thought I had speech problems being of
Mexican/Apache and German/Jew parents...I'm lucky to speak english at all. My
mother would ask "did you change your shits...and my friends would laugh..me,
never suspected anything wrong and wondered why the hell they were laughing. Oh,
well life would be a bore if we were all perfect.

Linda, Tim's wife was there she's looking pretty fit for being a relatively new
"grandma"...I bet all the boys in school wish they had a "grandma" looking like
her. Figure like a Barbie doll...she even let me hug Tim boy tonight!!!

Hey Jules, Glad you got a kick out of the report. The best I can say is that I"m
a happy drunk, but there's no telling what will come out of my mouth and that's
the bad part. I've had friends just stand there with huge smiles on their faces
and shaking their heads from side to side. They don't realize I'm a military
brat, cussing is our second language and we are fluent in it.

Mr. Cash was at the CC but forgot to mention him (thank goodness..no telling how
that would have come out). He's a nice handsome man and likes to dance with us
and greeted Tay warmly like an old familiar friend. I hope you can come to CC
sometime with the crew Linda, Bev,Carol, Mary ect. that would be fun ...maybe
someone could throw their bra again.

Wow, Heidi - you got yourself a REAL treat...although didn't I hear someone

I take several tanks of fire chief to drive to hear James play those jewels...

Sal...yes, that's the song. I remember now, the song had the words" safe side"
in it. It was one of the best acoustic sets from him yet. I really do wish he
would record "that" set onto a cd and the poster picture or something similar on
the cover ...now that would be a real treat. Right ladies?????????

that little adventure next.

Sorry folks, my head almost hit the computer screen...there' s hope for "Where's
Johnny" yet....

Wow, Heidi - you got yourself a REAL treat...although didn't I hear someone
report a while back that he played Dusty Pages, or Vague Directions (now THERE's
a song) at a solo acoustic?

I take several tanks of fire chief to drive to hear James play those jewels...

And Shalom.

Aw, Mary...

A girl can still hold out hope for "Where's Johnny" (or anything off of
Candyland for that matter) and "One More Winter"...

I digress, but I get a kick out of James in his interview calling the single,
alone guys dancing in the front "Johnnies"...I never quite saw Tom's depiction
of them...more so just bright kids who - once they get out in the real world -
are loners who never quite fit or could relate to the idyllic box society paints
them in.

When Candyland came out, my middle son had just been diagnosed with autism. The
part of the song, when mom "keeps..a scrapbook tucked in the drawer with her
pearls..." - my heart broke - as every mother's does -when they "polish the
trophies...back when they thought he would save they world...". That little
face with so much potential? Doesn't always grow up that way. "Just life,
mom".

I have a Johnny too (also with autism) - sweet, kind, happy - probably will end
up alone, dancing in the front by himself in a crowd (the boys do so love James,
hell- they grew up with him)...so if I ever hear the band break into "Where's
Johnny" - Heidi...I'll be that woman with tears streaming down her
face...looking at all those guys up front just a-groovin' and lovin' up my
boys....

Note that my theory was based on Linda's interview in which James said something
to the effect that "except they were straight" or something like that.
Personally, I think the song can be interpreted lots of ways...

But I certainly appreciate how Where's Johnny would hold a very special place in
your heart.

Yeah, I think what he said was, "at least some of them must have been straight,
because later on they started bringing along their grown daughters with them,
and it got a lot more interesting."

Note that my theory was based on Linda's interview in which James said something
to the effect that "except they were straight" or something like that.
Personally, I think the song can be interpreted lots of ways...

But I certainly appreciate how Where's Johnny would hold a very special place in
your heart.

That little face
with so much potential? Doesn't always grow up that way. "Just life, mom".

I have a Johnny too (also with autism) - sweet, kind, happy - probably will end
up alone, dancing in the front by himself in a crowd (the boys do so love James,
hell- they grew up with him)...so if I ever hear the band break into "Where's
Johnny" - Heidi...I'll be that woman with tears streaming down her
face...looking at all those guys up front just a-groovin' and lovin' up my
boys....

No, I imagine he was alluding to the fact that there were at least some Johnnies
in the crowd that had crushes on the band, as well. I mean, if we girls get
crushes on certain band members, then the gay guys who like their musical
fantasies rough and tumble as well must as well. :-)

I remember another song he sang at Cactus Cafe...delayed reaction. St. mary of
the woods...yes, he did. That's the one I requested during a weds. night show
but he didn't have the right guitar. He was OTS at the show and now when he does
that (obsessive tuning syndrome) I think of Linda...you people creep into my
mind at the weirdest times.

Very nice ... I guess I saw him play acoustic stuff alone a time or two in
Tucson, happy hour gigs, but I don't recall much. He was still just finding his
