Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Frankly been in a busy "post summer" work schedule, but here is a
few odds and ends of Jami news to keep you abreast of. Here's the latest:
1# This is just a short message to say happy birthday to Jamiroquai
percussionist Sola Akingbola. Sola, who provides much of the superb
rhythm to the band, is today (2 August) celebrating his birthday.
Feel free to leave any birthday greetings as comments to this news
item and/or post at the threads that have already been set up at the
Jamirotalk (LINK:

forums (LINK:

2# Jay is often associated as a supporter of charities but it is
good to see other members of Jamiroquai giving public support to their
chosen good causes. An example of this is keyboard player Matt
Johnson, who is a patron of the Youth Cancer Trust charity.
"The Youth Cancer Trust is a unique charity based in sunny
Bournemouth. It provides free, fun activity based holidays for young
people (aged 14 to 25) suffering with cancer or any malignant disease
from anywhere in the UK or who are patients of any UK hospital."
Matt is a patron of the charity and he recently attended their
10th Anniversary Ball of which a photo of him can be found at the YCT
website (LINK:

3# To celebrate BBC Radio 1's 40th birthday in September of this
year a number of artists have created cover versions/remixes of songs
from over the past 40 years. DJ/remixer/producer Calvin Harris has
created a version of Stillness In Time which represents the year 1995.
The mix can be heard at the calvinharrisminimix MySpace site (LINK:
http://www.myspace.com/calvinharrisminimix ).
Regular readers will be aware that Calvin created a mix of Canned
Heat for the 2006/07 12" remix releases (which ultimately was not used
by Sony/Columbia).
The full list of tracks being covered/mixed for Radio 1 can be
found at The Sun newspaper (UK) website (LINK:
http://tinyurl.com/33c83p ) .
In additional note, fans on JamiroTalk recorded the new remix and
have it up for download, you can check it out here:
