- At the end of the gig, Meike (CosmicMouse) and other fans, whom
had gotten backstage passes from Nude Continuum got to schmooze with
the band and talk with J and the band. And as a special treat, Meike
and the others actually got to hear 3 new Jami demos that J had on a
CD. The funny thing is that they hunted around for a car with a CD
player and got to listen to these gems. Here's Meike's take on what
was heard:
After the Jamiroquai gig Sandra and me were going to the backstage
entrance, because we got VIP passes from Nude Continuum.
We felt a bit bad to leave the Jamily.. but well, this is a great
opportunity so we also didn't want to miss this chance.. so we went
and as I saw Derrick on the corner I asked if we can bring in Suzanna
and Nicki. He did it!! Yay!! We went to the backstage area and met the
Nudies again, then Paul, Rob, Derrick, Matt... Sola was the only one
we have missed.
One by one more of the jamily came backstage which was so so great!!!
More and more came backstage... just amazing!! I guess we were nearly
20 jamily members backstage.. not sure, because I didn't count.
We chatted with the band, made photos ect.
After a while Jay came out of his room. He said that he has been
really proud of us tonight. I asked him if he realised that we were
about 30 people from jamirotalk in the frontrow from about 12
different countries. And he said: "Yes!! I do know that and I
appreciate that you are coming from so far to our gigs!!" After some
chatting he said: "You know what, I will show you one song of the new
album! I just need a cd player!"
He was running around, trying to find a way to show us the song.. the
whole jamily sneaking after him...haha!! Too funny!! LOL
Then we went outside to the truck and there was that mercedes.
I made it into the car and we were listening to parts of 3 songs!!
Very very special moment!!! Jay way very proud to present us the
tunes. They were very raw demos.. he was sometimes singing along to
instrumental parts, then he said: here we will add some brass... It
was so great!
He said that he appreciates so much our support and that's why he was
showing us the tunes. He said: Once, when the album comes out you can
say: Ah, I know this!! Very Happy
About the songs: they sound different... very surprising, catchy.. but
I couldn't really describe it. One song was called: "I could see you
dancing"
Also, the songs were not ready. They surely will sound different on
the album.
It was lovely to see how proud he was about the stuff. He enjoyed to
present it to us.
Jay was in a really thankful mood. He often expressed this, also
during the concert!
After that he said goodbye to all of us with loads of hugs!
* Massive thanks to Meike from JamiroTalk for this *
- And finally, upon reflection from Fans on Talk, they could
remember the names of 2 of the 3 new Jami demos they heard in that
cramped car (LINK: *Picture of Meike, FunkyNicki & Others in the car
listening to the Demos * :
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m25/nicki020572/IMGP1329.jpg ):
I Could See You Dancing
That's Not The Funk I Want
- I must not, none of the fans recorded, video or audiowise, these
demos as they were heard in the car, in respect to JK/the band and
themselves since they were given this honor to hear the new stuff.
Now, to the latest news:
1# This summer on MTV (UK) they are looking into the archives to
define the greatest music video ever made. Experts from MTV TWO, MTV
BASE and VH1 have already set out their opinions on the Top 100 videos
in their respective genres and Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity has been
nominated in VH1's Greatest Video Ever Top 10.
The combined MTV TWO, BASE and VH1 Top 10s have now been given
to the public to vote at www.mtv.co.uk/music. It will also be
possible to vote in-store at HMV stores nationwide.
Voting closes at midnight on 14 September and the ultimate Top
10 Greatest Videos Ever will be revealed on Sunday 21 September at 7pm
across MTV (UK) channels.

1# Here's a new message from JK, via the Official Site and all
their social networking pages:
Hi everyone
Well, it feels like summer in the UK doesn't want to start but I'm
glad to say that hasn't stopped us enjoying the sunshine at many
superb festivals around Europe. The next show is in Budapest which
we're all hugely looking forward to. My sincere thanks to everyone who
has seen one of the shows and posted such positive comments on the
Party People forum - we haven't played any new material but instead
decided to re-work some of the older stuff which seems to have gone
down well - at least from where I was standing. And I also have to
thank everyone for congratulating me on my Top Gear triumph! It felt
good to knock Mr Cowell off the top spot!! Well, you wouldn't expect
anything less would you??

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Sorry for the quietness on the Group lately, been taking some time
off. Here's the latest:
1# Gigwise.com have put an article online listing The 50 Greatest
Band Logos Of All Time! and Jamiroquai's 'buffalo man' logo is in the
list at number 22.
The list was chosen by the staff of gigwise.com (LINK:
http://www.gigwise.com/article?id=45166&image=50#gallery ) and I
believe they picked a good logo to top the list.
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
2# This is a reminder to people in the UK that on Sunday 17 August
at The Residence in Great Yarmouth (UK), Jamiroquai musicians Derrick
McKenzie (drums), Paul Turner (bass) and Rob Harris (guitar) will be
holding a "masterclass" event.
"Hear them perform famous Jamiroquai tracks, and reveal the
secrets of how they work as a unit - a masterclass music event."
The event starts at 4pm and tickets can be purchased from vendors
as shown on the promotional poster for the event (LINK:
http://funkin.com/news/media/2008-08-17-masterclass_800x1125.jpg ).
The event is being organised by Elusive Events Management who can be
found at myspace.com/elusiveeventsmanagement .
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
3# A number of Jamiroquai signed CD's, being auctioned to raise
money for SCOPE (the disability organisation in England and Wales
whose focus is people with cerebral palsy), are currently listed on eBay.
To see the listings and bid on one of these great charity
auctions please visit eBay (LINK: http://tinyurl.com/6ltsyh ).

4# After the recent story that Jay was interested in test driving
the new motor car from Lotus, UK bookmakers William Hill have Jay
listed as second favourite (odds of 3-1) to soon be an owner of the
Aston Martin One-77 - the worlds most expensive car.
No more than 77 of the car, codenamed One-77, will be made when
the hand-made coupe goes on sale in 2009 for around $2.3 million
(USD). More information about the car and who the betting shop thinks
will be the first owner can be found at Wired.com website (LINK:

5# Also, in a tour update, the final remaining Jamiroquai European
tourdate (Well, the last known one for 2008 for that matter) is coming
up this weekend on the 14th of August at the Tobit Arena in Auhaus
Germany. Happy to report that Nude Continuum have REENTERED Europe
successfully and plan on headlining with Jamiroquai/Brand New Heavies.
Will provide the latest coverage on this gig on the group, so look
out for this during the upcoming weekend! ;-)
There you go, all the news for now, thanks for reading and see you
soon with more news! Cheers!

JamiroFan2000
P.S. to those whom get the e-mail digest of my updates on the Group:
Disregard the update I just sent out, had to correct the Auhaus German
tourdate, not the 16th but the 14th....my bad!
Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Bad and unfortunate news concerning Nude Continuum, reported by
Derrick McKenzie Of Jamiroquai:
- Hello everyone I just needed to make an announcement on the funkin
site that Nude Continuum have been denied entry into the UK and have
had to go back to Australia after a long flight and dealing with the
UK immigration and work permit situations, they were denied entry into
the UK and therefore have had to go back home!!!!!!!
They are flying back tonight (Sunday) and will be sorting out to
come back in the future.
This is a real shame as I was really looking forward to doing the
gigs with them and seeing the nude crew in London, but I will have to
wait a bit longer for the opportunity.
I know that James will be making an announcement as soon as he can
once he gets home.
But he wanted to thank everybody for there support and love for
the band and the album.
Much love to you all
Derrick
But there is a silver-lining to this development, according to
James Higgins, from his posts on the new thread about this situation,
Nude Continuum might just come back in time and perform for all the
fans whom planned on seeing both Jami and them. Read more about this
and keep up to date about it at the thread on Talk about here:
LINK: http://jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7985
Now here is the latest news:
1# Following up on the previous news that Jay was going to appear on
BBC television motoring show Top Gear to take part in the "Star In A
Reasonably Priced Car" feature (to try and regain his crown from Simon
Cowell) the show was broadcast on Sunday evening in the UK.
After an interview about Jay's car collection and showing the
footage of Jay's driving on the racing track (in a Chevrolet Lacetti),
it was announced (to much delight from Jay!) that Jay drove the
fastest lap on the track and is back at the top of the celebrity
leaderboard. His time was 1 minute, 45.8 seconds - beating Simon
Cowell's time by 0.1 of a second!
If you're in the UK the show should be available to watch for a
limited time using the BBC iPlayer (LINK:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ ) or if you want to download an xvid
clip from the show, head over to the downloads page on The Funkin Site
at http://www.funkin.com/downloads .
* Massive thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
2# The Sunday Mirror newspaper (UK) printed an article a few days
ago about how much many pop stars charge to appear at parties and
private functions - and Jamiroquai is included in the list...
Jamiroquai - £500K (around 1,000,000 US dollars or 635,000 euros)
Half a million to get Jay Kay to sing, but we'd also have to stump
up for accommodation, meals and drinks.
Prue Almond of International Talent Booking says: "Five-star for
Jay and the band, crew four-star if they were to stay the night.
"As it's the UK, the crew may not need accommodation, but you
should look at the worst case scenario.
"You need to look at a suite for Jay and then 18 king bedded
singles for the rest of the party.
"Food and drinks won't be too ridiculous, although you would have
to provide what is on the rider - normal dressing room food and drinks
really."
For the same amount of money you could also have artists including
Justin Timberlake or Rihanna. The full article can be found at the
Sunday Mirror website.
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
There you go, all the news for now. Also, in a supplement to the
Nude Continuum, keep up to date with the band at their newly-designed
official site at http://www.nudecontinuum.com . Take care and see you
soon with more news! Cheers!

Here is the latest Jami related Odds N Ends:
1# Back in October 2002, Jay took part in the "Star In A Reasonably
Priced Car" feature of BBC motoring TV show Top Gear. Jay raced around
a test track only two seconds slower than a professional racing driver
and throughout the ten week series, Jay was the fastest celebrity
around the track.
His time has since been broken (a number of times) and the record (in
the car that they now use for the feature) is currently held by Simon
Cowell. Well, according to an interview with Andy Wilman (Top Gear
producer) on the Top Gear website, Jay is planning to challenge the
record this week - in the final episode of the current series.
"Finally, as I write this, Jay Kay is coming down with his sights
fixed firmly on Cowell's lap time. In truth, I think he's the only
star around at the moment with the speed to knock Cowell off the top,
and bugger me is he hungry for it. So, no rain dances from anyone
please. Let your gardens wither - we need a dry track on Wednesday."
The weather forecast is so far looking promising and although the show
is filmed during the week the result won't be broadcast until Sunday
(27 July) from 20:00 on BBC 2.
For information, the current 'celebrity' leaderboard and the previous
leaderboard can be viewed at the Top Gear website (LINK:
http://www.topgear.com/content/tgonbbc2/laptimes/celebrity/ ).
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
2# In a BBC Radio 1 interview with Peter Jones, one of the 'Dragons'
in BBC television series Dragons Den (which starts its sixth series
this week), he reveals that he's a big fan of Jamiroquai and that Jay
and himself have become good friends.
Do you get any celebrities calling you up for business advice?
Oh yeah. Now it's amazing how the floodgates have opened, which is
quite eerie and quite odd. One of my closest friends is a guy who I
have literally loved his music for 14 years and he's become a very
close friend of mine, JK from Jamiroquai. It's quite surreal and he's
sitting there with him and he's sort of looking at me saying, 'I love
your show and I love what you do and I love your business,' and I'm
sitting there thinking, 'You've got the best musical mind in the
business.' And you just think, 'Crikey it's incredible.' I need to be
pinched sometimes.
Do you actually give JK any business advice?
We have actually talked about a couple of things. I do give him
business advice. The only thing I'd like back from him is that I'd
like him to teach me to sing and get a hit record out there...
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
3# Jamiroquai tracks have been featured over the years on US TV
dance shows and this week we had Canned Heat on So You Think You Can
Dance. The dancers were Kherington & Mark and this was their "Jazz"
dance for the show.
The video can be seen over at YouTube (LINK:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kJ6U2msx-rs ) .
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
4# According to The Sun newspaper (UK) and a number of other news
sources, Jay has applied to test drive the new car from Lotus - their
first new car design in over 10 years - and a 'bargain' at around
60,000 GBP (120,000 USD).
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
5# If you're a fan of ex-Jamiroquai bassist Stuart Zender then you
can't do much better than being a regular visitor to StuartZender.net.
Stuart recently gave an interview to Bass Magazine (a scan is
available at the website) where he talks about a number of things
including how some of the basslines to Jamiroquai songs were written...
Q: How do you write your basslines?
SZ: To be honest with you, I don't think about it - I just do it.
Most of the stuff is an accident, it just works out. In Jamiroquai,
Jay would come up with some bassline ideas, and I'd further it from
there. He's the most amazing songwriter and performer. I saw them
without me for the first time about two years ago and it was a bit of
a weird one! They were good, but it was different - I guess it's not
the essence of what we were.
The full interview can be read via StuartZender.net, and a couple of
days ago Stuart posted a message on his MySpace blog where he gives
his (honest) opinion on the interview and the rest of the magazine...
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
There you go, all the news for now. Again, massive congrats to
Nude Continuum and I hope they have a great time with BNH &
Jamiroquai! Cheers!

Now to the usual:
1# At the 2008 North Sea Jazz Festival that was held in The
Netherlands this past weekend, Dutch trumpet player Rik Mol spoke
briefly in an interview about the news that he is going to record some
music with Jamiroquai. He said that he is going to record his second
album with "the guys." Rik said that he is happy about the
opportunity to work with the band - he met them whilst performing in
London and loves the feeling of rhythm in their music.

2# The organisers of Jamiroquai's 16 August concert in Ahaus
(Germany) for the Tobit Software NightClubbing event (which I guess is
the official name for the event that the band are playing at) have
announced a competition for new bands to get the opportunity to
perform at the festival on the same stage as Jamiroquai (and the other
bands performing - which include The Brand New Heavies).
Information about the competition can be found at the Tobit.com

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Been pretty busy, but here's a late update about Jami's appearance
in Monaco:
- This past Monday, July 7th, Jamiroquai rocked Monaco, apparently
repeating the same setlist from the Rock In Rio/Super Bock Portugese
recent gigs. For more fan reviews, live pictures and more, check out
the thread on JamiroTalk about it here:

- And in a additional note, here are some live videos from the
Monaco gig, found on YouTube:

here's a very bad phone cam vid:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x62mw7_jamiroquai-monaco
* Massive thanks to Dyego/Russky from JamiroTalk for finding these *
- And in a update on the Rock In Rio HD recording that is making the
Bit Torrent rounds.....very slowly, in the meantime, fellow
JamiroTalker Freeetz made an AWESOME QUALITY audio rip of the Rio DVD
for all our awaiting ears. You can download it here:
LINK: http://narod.ru/disk/1349911000/jamiroquai_2008-07-04.rar.html
There are 2 solid Bit Torrent links to the Rio DVD I know of, try
out both of them at the following links, be aware, the DimeADozen
torrent apparently is better quality than the other:

Subject: [JAMIROQUAI] TOUR UPDATE: Rock in Rio HD Video UPDATE & New Album
Details!
Hello again JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
1 update post wasn't enough to cover all that is happenings, here is
more:
- First off, got some IMPORTANT details about Jamiroquai's impending
2009 new album right from the "Buffaloman' s mouth", reported from
fellow JamiroTalker Peggy:
I asked him for the new album, it will probably be released around
spring 2009, the have already around 20 songs but are still doing
more. They have sent 4 songs to several record companies and the
company that gives them the liberty of making the songs as they want,
without them wanting to change the songs, will be the one they will
sign up to. Jay could do it by himself but he needs a company for the
promotional side. So nothing certain there for the moment. Pauld told
us all the companies want to work with them.
There will be horns, not really old school, but, and there it that
word again... it will sound fresh.
* Massive thanks to Peggy from JamiroTalk for this info *
- In a quick update about the HD fan recordings of the Jami's Rock
In Rio broadcast performance, happy to say some of them are currently
circulating through Bit Torrent. Here is one seeded torrent you can
try downloading from, will post again when I find more confirmed
torrents listed:
MININOVA.ORG:
http://www.mininova .org/tor/ 1573155
* Massive thanks to Russky on JamiroTalk for finding this *
Will report back soon! By the way, almost forgot to mention,
another Jami gig tonight....LIVE IN MONACO! Cheers and post soon!

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Here's the latest:
1# The Funkin Site is giving away 2 tickets to see Jami LIVE in
Monaco Gig, here is the newsitem about it:
On Monday 7 July Jamiroquai will be performing as part of the
Monaco Live 2008 series of events that are being in Monaco.
Jamiroquai's concert is being held at Port Hercule in Monaco and
funkin.com has secured two tickets to the concert for a lucky
competition winner at funkin.com. All you need to do to be in with a
chance of winning is read the following and then decide if you want to
enter!
* The prize is your name (and a guests name) on the guestlist of
the Jamiroquai concert being held on 7 July in Monaco.
* These are not back-stage passes - just entry into the concert.
They are most probably seating tickets but you'll have to wait and see
(as I don't know!!).
* No travel/transport etc. is included - the competition prize is
simply two tickets for the gig.
* Please be aware that if you want to be standing at the front row
of the gig then these tickets are not for you (although as I said
earlier I think they will be seating tickets anyhow). The guestlist
tickets normally arrive at the box-office long after the doors open
(maybe an hour before the band come on stage).
So, if you have read the above carefully and you can make it to
the concert on 7 July (please don't enter if you have no intention of
going as it could stop someone who can attend) then please email
competition@... with the following information - your name and
email address - and the answer to the following question:
* What is the name of the (only) single that was released to
coincide with the greatest hits album - "High Times - Singles 1992-2006"?
All entries/emails must be received by 11:59pm (GMT+1) on Tuesday 1
July so that a winner can be picked and contacted in plenty of time.
Only the winner will be notified. An announcement (news item) will
also be made here at funkin.com to let you know that the winner has
been picked and contacted.
Thank you and good luck.
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
2# A few years ago MTV UK broadcast a show called "Fanatic" where a
fan got to meet their favourite band and interview them for the
channel. Jamiroquai were featured and the winner (Atar) met the band,
interviewed them and even played keyboards on stage as part of one of
their concerts!
Atar set up his own band (Atar & The Funkadrome) and this year
Atar has launched a new group called Royal Showdown.
"Royal Showdown is influenced by such formidable acts as: Steely
Dan, Ben Folds Five, Joni Mitchell and Jamiroquai, but while their
musical inspiration comes from the past, Royal Showdown's approach to
production and arranging is forward-thinking, drawing on such masters
as Quincy Jones, all while promoting a positively British flare."
The band have played a few gigs already and this coming Thursday
(3 July) they're playing a headline set at the Clapham Grand in
London. More information about the band can be found via their
official website at www.royalshowdown.com .
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
3# And finally, fellow Talker Javis made a new audio/video rip of
what appears to be an "extended" Krakow One Network video with 2
additional live songs from the recent Jami gig. You can download them
at the following links, I converted his original MPC audio rip to MP3:
AUDIO: http://www.zshare.net/audio/141987296f7639f3/
VIDEO: http://www.fileqube.com/shared/OrpJwoU48617 (In DIVX Format!)
* Massive thanks to Javis from JamiroTalk for his rips! *
There you go, all the news for now, GOOD LUCK in the current Funkin
contest! Cheers and see you soon with more news!

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Just checking in with a quick tour update:
1# So far, after last night 1st Canary Island gig, there have been a
good number of live photos starting to pop up on the net. From JK
arriving at the airport (LINK: http://tinyurl.com/6kcrb8 ) , to a few
live pics (Where JK ACTUALLY wore an Indian headdress, much like the
one he wore in the "Corner Of The Earth" video from the A Funk Odyssey
Era: LINK: http://tinyurl.com/66j8kp ) . But no setlist has come
online yet, but check out more pics from this gig here (LINK:
http://tinyurl.com/5gwdxz ).
I will report back with more info/links/live videos when they start
getting online. Take care and see you soon with more news!

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Here's the latest:
1# Some new interviews with Jay have been published on Spanish
websites in advance of the bands gigs this weekend in Gran Canaria and
Tenerife as part of the Aguaviva Canarias Festival.
The first is at laopinion.es (LINK: http://tinyurl.com/5e44be ) and
the second at Canarias7.es (LINK: http://tinyurl.com/6ramqp )-
non-Spanish readers may want to use a site such as Babelfish to help
with translation.
A few things from the interview may be of interest...
- New album is planned for release 'next year' (2009).
- No plans to perform any new material at these gigs - they'll
play existing tracks but with some differences.
- An extensive tour will follow the release of the next album.
- The band are evolving the sound of their music, much like they
have done with previous albums.
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
2# Ex-Jamiroquai bass player Stuart Zender plays bass on the song
entitled 'Cold Shoulder' by London singer/songwriter Adele. The track
was released in the UK in April of this year and she's currently in
the US performing a few dates before heading back to Europe.
For more information about Stuart Zender don't forget to visit
stuartzender.net.
* Special thanks to the Funkin Site for this @ http://funkin.com *
3# Coverage of Jamiroquai's Canary Islands gigs this weekend will be
in full force, so keep an eye out for fan live reviews, live
pictures/videos at the following threads on the Official Forum and
JamiroTalk.net :
JAMIROTALK.NET THREAD:
http://tinyurl.com/6z4yrs
OFFICIAL FORUM:
http://bb.jamiroquai.com
There you go, those new Spanish interviews do confirm most of the
known fan knowledge about the current state of Jamiroquai's new album,
still you wish they would play just a smidgen of their new material to
test it live. But anyway, will post again over the weekend with the
latest fan reviews, live pictures/videos and so forth when I can.
Have a great weekend and see you soon with more news!

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,

playing some new material are running pretty high, so I will keep my

Hello JAMIROQUAI Club Members,
Thank you so much for posting that latest newsnote, Elisa, about
JK's new acting role, my work schedules has been hectic lately, so
much obliged. So if any members of the Group come across any new
Jamiroquai news or anything pertaining to JMQ, feel free to post it OR
merely wait for me to catch up with it all in my post updates. Now,
to my policy on postings on this group, of course I am all for
supporting other musical artists, even through "self-promotions" via
postings on Music oriented forums & Groups. But please, if you post
about music, please keep your postings limited to 1-2 posts every
month on this group, I don't mean to discriminate, just trying to
flesh out all the spamlike postings and concentrate more on
JMQ/bandmembers side projects related news. I hope you understand and
don't take my deleting of some of the recent music postings to hard to
the heart and understand I am just trying to be fair. In any case,
thanks again for the heads up Elisa, you are a great addition to this
Group, and see you all soon with more news! Cheers!
