Red Taurus
Sunday, 25 March 2007
Red Taurus is made up of six talented individuals from different parts of Asia: Singapore’s Jason Ho (guitars & synthesizer); Japan’s 'Alex' D Katsumata (bass); Hong Kong’s Pao Yen (flute, saxophone & cello) and Dylan 'Baba' Lye (guitars) Hassan Musafer (drums) and 'DC' Wijesinha (percussion) from Sri Lanka. Their music is a subtle fusion of flamenco, latin and jazz. This interesting combination is a result of the different musical background and styles of the band members, which lends a very distinctive sound and unique identity that is Red Taurus. The band’s debut album ‘Red Taurus 2005’ represents the band’s word, with tunes best described as melodic, evocative, ethereal and sometimes meditational.

BROKEN ORANGE FENCE Broken Orange Fence is a jazz oriented band that performs both standards and original compositions with the occasional tinge of local flavour. Comprising musicians who have been active in the local jazz circuit, the band has delighted audiences all across the social strata since their debut in 2005. With their reinterpretation of popular Singaporean folk tunes such as Rasa Sayang and Mandarin oldies such as Wo Yao Ni, Broken Orange Fence champions the cause of putting the public appeal back into a genre misconstrued as inaccessible.
