If you have not catched the show, you should. Put aside your skepticism, if any, and be amazed at how seemingly "un-musical" sounds or rather noises (e.g. trucks) can be transformed into modern rythms under the hands of creative sound engineers.

In the episode featuring lawyer turned jazz singer Rani Singam and tribal house DJ Aldrin Quek, the theme was "wild". Sounds of animals, rushing water, etc, were recorded at the zoo and Wild Wild Wet. The recordings were then edited, manipulated & mixed - much like the sort of you hear in discos. Once done, the actual work began.

The song began with a shout which was actually a crowd watching a show at the zoo. That was followed by Rani telling a story of her trip to the zoo and something like that. Sounds & videos of animals, children playing at WWW, etc, were incorporated into it. The whole concept & MTV will certainly make you smile and laugh too.

So don't forget to join jazz pianist Aya Sekine & rapper Freaky Z in the next episode.

THE PREMISE - SOUNDS OF THE LAND, STORY OF THEIR MUSIC

FREQUENCY OF THE CITY 2 takes Singaporean musicians from the stage to the streets in an innovative music series that challenges them to create new works of art!

Armed with only an MD player and 2 tapes, our musical duo from different musical backgrounds collect sounds from various locations in Singapore that inspire them and collaborate to create a distinctive soundscape.

While following the creative process, we also learn who these musicians are and what kind of music they play. We also get history information that will help piece together the music history of Singapore - masterpieces are created from both personal styles and everyday Singapore sounds!

At the end of their endeavor, both our musicians’ composition is featured in a visual music montage concocted by the director. The music video will feature the musician at work and the particular location in a novel and dramatic manner.

THE NEXT STAGE – THE AUDIENCE STEPS IN
In the next installment of this groundbreaking series, the FREQUENCY OF THE CITY 2 extends its music-making opportunities to the masses! The show calls on the public to lend a hand in our musicians’ sound collecting and music-making endeavours.

The public will be called upon to submit distinctive sounds from the various locations that our musicians will head to throughout the series. The sounds are then collected and sorted by location, into a database of sound samples.

Every episode, upon returning to the studio, our musicians must tap into this database of sounds and beat samples recorded by the public, and use it as a part of their new soundscape!

With the public’s participation in this new season of Frequency, the Sound Criteria of our musicians change a little.

Each episode is thematically driven and we suggest contrasting locations, which adds visual and content variety to each episode.
