So were you there?

I was surprised!

There was a huge crowd. Many of us had to stand.
Besides, there were also many adults in their 40s & 50s, not just undergrads.
The most intriguing thing was the audience comprised mainly Europeans & native Indians.
Perhaps the Indians were supporting the Dhol drummers.
Spotted an Afro gal dancing in this Afro gig too. BTW, our NUS Jazz Band once had an female undergrad vocalist from Madagascar. And she was well loved by many of us.
Towards the end, everyone was dancing.
But where were the locals? The typical local undergrad must be studying very hard although there was a roaring sports event going past 11pm at the Hostel next to the UCC. :-)

If you had expected the music to be your typical cool bossa nova & hot Latin jazz, it is not. There are probably some more free WOMAD gigs for you to sample if you are still undecided about getting the tix.

If anyone of you work/stay near NUS, let me know. Perhaps we can gather fellow members in the next event.

JAZZ BY THE BEACH IS BACK!
The organiser would like to apologise that the July event was cancelled. So sorry if u had made a wasted trip.
If u dunno, I was involved in the marketing of the last one in Apr. But was too bz to attend the Apr one.
I should have more time this month to organise a gathering. If you r keen, lemme know. I need an indication. Thanks & stay tuned.
