I don't think Joe stole the music at all. I doubt if he even heard of the film
before. I used to write music & a song almost note for note of my song went to
number one. This was some 2 years after I had written the song & the song had
never left my house. I always remember watching a Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis film
made in the 50s & thought one piece of music reminded me of a Beatles song.

Greetings Meek Peeps,
I haven't posted here in many years. It is nice to see that there are still lots
of folks interested in Meek. I've mostly been involved with music and my job at
Guitar Player. You can find information on both here:
http://www.barrycleveland.com
The reason I am posting is that I am currently preparing a second edition of my
book for publication as an eBook, and I'm looking for feedback from serious Meek
peeps such as yourselves. Please let me know if you have spotted any
inaccuracies (or even typos if you are up to it) and/or if you have any qualms
with any of the content.
The second edition will be properly edited and feature a new introduction and a
new chapter on the upcoming Meek documentary. The audio files for I Hear A New
World will also be completely remastered using modern sound restoration tools.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers!
Barry
P.S. The email addresses I have for Shaun Brennan, John O'Kill, and John
Cavanagh have all expired, so if any of you are active on this list, please drop
me a line and say hello!

No sign of the whole of the tune on youtube, there is more than the penny
whistle, a whole orchestra in fact...it is an eye opener but pure coincidence.
I have known this topic (viz: what is that twangy guitar melody?) be discussed on several sites down the years. The answer is still a mystery & has baffled even the UK's most expert / ardent Instrumental fans / collectors. Probably really obscure & possibly by someone like the Staccatos with Eric Ford on lead guitar - but even that can't be 100% (or even 50%) verified.
Bests.....Rob

Another one you all might enjoy with Telstar very aptly used to illustrate the change from the fading past to the exciting future (3 minutes in).
What ever happened with this group. Did the Telstar film put everyone off.

I thought the Joe Meek group was abandonded some time ago and thats why there have been so few postings. It obviously still seems to be working so we should start posting Joe Meek related news again.

Sorry to post personal stuff on this forum, but I haven't heard from Shaun
Brennan since 2007. I'd just like to know how he's doing, and if he's OK. I
worry...
