We're proud to announce a new Sally Shapiro 12" to be released in late
Nov / early Dec - now in production: "Anorak Christmas / I'll be by
your side remixes"! Cover image on our web site
(www.johanagebjorn.info/sally), Dutch/French colours this time to
reflect the fact that some people have compared Sally Shapiro's singing
to French disco/pop (such as Mylène Farmer) and to reflect the Dutch
electro sound of the B side... Tracklist:

A new track which is an italo disco interpretation of a track by
Swedish indie artist Nixon. By a strange coincidence, when searching
for the songwriter/singer Roger "Nixon" Gunnarsson for the right to
release this track, he happened to already by a Sally Shapiro fan and a
member of this newsletter! This is a Christmas track so we really
really hope it will get released in time this time... It went to press
a bit late because we had trouble with the mastering of this track, it
was mastered 3-4 times before we were satisfied. In the end the Danish
producer SLL made a great job with it, though I made some final
adjustments myself. And it was pre-mastered on a reel-to-reel by
Swedish producer Q-Force...

A2 - I'll be by your side (Extended club mix) 8:26

A typical 80s extended mix of the original, very long as you can see.
It has an instrumental verse and chorus at the beginning, just like
Miko Mission "How old are you?", the breakdown in the middle is longer,
and the ending is different and more mix-friendly.

Dutch electro producer Rude 66 makes a fantastic remix here. I was very
glad he wanted to remix it, because his track "Overkill" is one of my
favourite tracks from last year, I voted for it in the CBS Top 100. And
I was NOT disappointed with the result!

A second remix from Rude 66! This one is harder, with a 4-to-the-floor
909 kick, might be preferred by some DJs.


Also out soon, though it hasn't gone to press yet: CD maxi (and mp3)
with 7 mixes of "I'll be by your side" and "Overload". The two
exclusive remixes - both Swedish - for this release are:

Another strange coincidence was that one of our Swedish fans turned out
to live just across the lake Åsunden, a few kilometres away from
Mossebo where "I'll be by your side" was recorded. We discovered it
when he gave me his address so I could send him the 12" - instead I
delivered it personally. He also turned out to be an established
remixer, and he delivered this funny but good remix with some retro 90s
eurodisco feel...

Swedish producer Stefan Jönsson (also a member of the duo Halftone,
whom I made a remix for myself recently) makes progressive house under
the name Monodrive. I think this remix is great and I hope it will get
some play in the more mainstream house clubs!


The original 12" is still getting good reviews, being played by DJs
etc... It's on electro DJ The Hacker's playlist for this month and
"Overload" has been played by Legowelt's DJ compagnion Speculator. If
you search a little on the web you can actually find downloadable DJ
sets/mixes with all four tracks on the release... Our web site is
updated with the new reviews, mostly blogs but also De:Bug and Stylus
Magazine.


Last but not least, we will also soon release an album (on CD, LP, mp3)
called "Disco romance"! More info to follow, of course...
