Some news from here:


- Now the new Sally Shapiro album "My Guilty Pleasure" is released! CDs
available from places like Insound, Amazon, Juno, CDON and mp3s
available from iTunes, Beatport etc - don't forget the exclusive bonus
remixes on iTunes and Beatport that we wrote about earlier - if you're
in USA then the iTunes version also includes the Love In July video as
a bonus download (don't ask us why only in the USA!).

The vinyl is limited to 300 copies worldwide (200 in North America, 100
in Europe). In Canada you can order it directly from Paper Bag, in USA
from Insound. The 100 European copies haven't shown up in record stores
yet (that will take at least one more week), so keep your eyes open on
stores like Juno, Flexx, Decks etc.

For any listeners in Asia and Australia: unfortunately the album is not
released there, we're planning to release it ourselves on iTunes but we
have trouble with our digital distributor so it might still take a
while.

You can also order the European CD directly from us for 129 SEK incl

For those who don't plan to get a physical version of the album with

Hi all

The Swedish cassette edition of Sally Shapiro "My Guilty Pleasure" is
now available for pre-order! This version of the album is released on
Johan's label Husmus Media in the very limited quantity of 20 numbered
copies, all signed by Sally and Johan. They are home-made, recorded on
Johan's fine NAD cassette deck, there's a fair amount of noise on them
but that's part of the charm we think. See attached image for how they
look.

The tracklist is the European version of the album (see web site) minus
"Jackie Jackie" which didn't fit on the C46 tapes. But since there were
a few minutes of blank space left we decided to add an exclusive bonus
track on the end of side B, so we included a recording of Sally as a
child reviewing (in Swedish) the Eurovision Song Contest of 1989.

How to order the tape:

Hi everyone

July is here and it's already time for the second single from our
forthcoming album, the summer song "Love In July". The track is a song
about being in love with last year's summer romance and wishing that
he/she would come back to your town (maybe that reminds you of another
current Scandinavian electropop track, but at least Sally didn't get
pregnant!). It's more hopeful than "Miracle" and it's very summery. It
was written July last year, again by Johan and Roger. Cloetta Paris and
Clive Reynolds sing backing vocals during the last chorus (and that's
not their only appearance on the forthcoming album, they also wrote
"Save Your Love").

The single will be out as a download on iTunes, Beatport etc on July
14th (North America)/July 17th (Europe) on Paper Bag and Permanent
Vacation. Unfortunately there wasn't time to press vinyl this time
since we came up with the single idea quite recently and the remixes
were finished just a few weeks ago. But we have some very nice remixes
in the package. Parker Lewis is the alias of Tom Bioly, 50% of
Permanent Vacation. Le Prix is the alias of Johan Emmoth, 50% of Zoo
Brazil and Laid. CFCF you remember from his nice "Time To Let Go" remix
and Bostro Pesopeo is on Permanent Vacation's roster.

The second Sally Shapiro album "My Guilty Pleasure" will be released on
August 25th and is currently at the pressing plant! It features
collaborations with Cloetta Paris and Tensnake and a lot of songwriting
assistance from Roger Gunnarsson. On the whole it's a romantic pop
disco album just like "Disco Romance" but maybe a bit more varied in
style. We're very happy with it.

The album will be released on the following labels, territories and

As you can see we included our two 2008 singles "He Keeps Me Alive" and
"Jackie Jackie" as bonus tracks on the non-US/Can editions, as these
tracks were already included as bonus tracks on the North American
release of "Disco Romance" in late 2007. In Europe these were released
on 12"s/download only and if you read this you probably already have
the tracks, but a lot of people still only buy CD albums (strange as it
may seem - it's still the main format that we sell our music on) and we
wanted these people to hear the tracks too. (The third North American
bonus track, "Skating in the Moonshine", the oldest of the three bonus
tracks, felt more like a conceptual part of "Disco Romance" so we
didn't include it, maybe it will be released on CD in Europe if "Disco
Romance" ever gets a re-release here.) If you live in Europe and you
still have the North American edition of "Disco Romance" and you're
tired of the tracks then you can of course import the North American
edition of the new album.

Apart from this some formats will have bonus tracks:
- The iTunes edition of the album will include a great "Dyylan's Secret
Remix" of "My Fantasy"
- The Beatport edition of the album will include a "Swedish Remix" of
"Miracle" (a special DJ edit by Johan dedicated to Fredrik Ramel of
Beat Box)
- The Philippines edition of the album will include last year's Junior
Boys dub remix of "Jackie Jackie"

That's all for now...and remember on Tuesday our new single "Miracle"
is released as a download, and on the following Monday (we think) as a
12" which looks *so* good in print! Next week we'll upload Bogdan Irkük
a.k.a. Bulgari's excellent remix of the track to Sally's MySpace. There

Hi all

We're gladly announcing that the new Sally Shapiro single "Miracle"
will be released on June 16th by Permanent Vacation (12" and download)
and Paper Bag Records (download only). This is the first single from
our new album "My Guilty Pleasure" which will be released later this
year.

The single was written and produced by Johan Agebjörn and Roger
Gunnarsson. The remix comes from Bulgaria's nu-disco hope Bogdan Irkük
a.k.a. Bulgari, whose name should be familiar to those who saw Johan's
top 10 list of 2008 (see his MySpace blog). For the first time we also
included an instrumental version, and finally on the download release a
radio edit, which, however, is mostly intended for radio stations and
people who are to stressed to listen to a full-length song. The good
thing with download releases is that you don't have to buy all tracks.

Sally Shapiro update Feb 2009: no live performances...but a new album

It's been a while since we wrote about what's been going on. After
coming home from our short DJ tour last spring, Sally felt that
standing on stage was not her thing, and that life on tour in general
didn't interest her. It was not just about shyness, it was as much
about a disinterest in endless travelling and working hours in the
middle of the night. Some of the live/DJ requests turned into Johan
solo DJ gigs, most didn't happen at all. Many people in the music
industry think it's commercially stupid, we lose a lot of opportunities
to gain listeners and sell records. And we guess they are right. We
also have the feeling of making our listeners (the ones that we met
were really nice) disappointed. But we believe that you shouldn't take
opportunities just because they exist, if it's not what you really want
to do. What if you just want to be a normal person with a normal job,
record songs in the weekends, and spend the holidays picking
blueberries instead of going on tour.

So that's what we have been doing with the project the last year -
recording songs in the weekends and Johan DJing once in a while. We
have rediscovered the joy in making music! Most of the new album is
finished and it will be released some time this year and probably a
single before that. It will hopefully make you fall in love with the
person sitting next to you on the bus. The album will be released on
Paper Bag Records in North America, Husmus Media in Scandinavia and
Permanent Vacation in the rest of Europe. Johan will continue to DJ for
those who want.

Ambient album "Mossebo" out now!

Hi all
A lot happening here right now...

• Two previously unreleased ambient tracks are being released on CD
compilations. "Ambient Robot Dance" is a really old track, it dates
back as far as 1998 and was made on my old sampler and Atari. I've
uploaded it to my MySpace (link below) and it feels a bit weird to have
such an old track there, but I still like it. As the title suggests,
"Ambient Computer Dance" from the "Mossebo" album is related to this
track, it was made as some kind of follow-up: two tracks of warm
ambient atmospheres within cold artificial mechanic settings. (Sally
Shapiro listeners might also notice that the intro of "Jackie Jackie"
was sampled from this track!) The track is included on the CDR
compilation "Collection 4: Transforming" which will be released on the
Dutch Databloem label (www.databloem.com) very soon: it will be
available from their webshop, iTunes and I also already have a few
copies available.

The second track is newer, called "Zero Gravitation (Beatless Mix)" -
as you can figure out there is also an original mix, which is twice as
long and still unreleased, though some of you might have been able to
download it earlier. It is based on the same vintage string sound as
"Ambient Robot Dance" is. The track is included on the CD compilation
"Chilltronica - A Definition", out on the German label Soundcolours
(www.soundcolours.com) on Oct 24th. There is more info on their web
site, the tracklist includes newcomers as well as some known artists
such as Depeche Mode, Spooky and The Grid. The CD also includes the
Between Interval remix of Sally Shapiro's "Sleep In My Arms". You can
listen to my track on YouTube, where I've uploaded a self-made music
video for it based on footage from "2001 - A Space Odyssey": (I demand

Hi all,

Earlier this year Norwegian nudisco producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm
remixed Sally Shapiro's "Time to let go"...I made a remix in return and
today it was released as an iTunes-only bonus track to Lindstrøm's new
(and brilliant) album "Where you go I go too".

The track is called "Grand ideas" and my remix is a bit harder than the
music I normally make (both the disco and ambient stuff), this time
drawing inspiration from artists like Daft Punk, early Moby, Alden
Tyrell while still having some typical italo disco trademarks.

...and don't forget my ambient album is released in a few weeks

A few versions of the release (on iTunes and Juno) include two bonus
remixes, these aren't worse than the other remixes, they just came in
too late to be able to be included on all releases and on the artwork!
The remixes are Grahm Zilla's remix of "I'll be by your side" and
KoolTURE & Diego Puerta's remix of "I know" which we can really
recommend.

This is all for now - no more planned Sally Shapiro releases but we are
working on new stuff!

Johan is also doing two solo DJ gigs during the summer, italo disco and
neo-italo disco of course -
July 25th (or 26th): UMF festival (Turku, Finland) - great festival
with Annie, Alden Tyrell, Maximilian Skiba, Kris Menace and many many
more

Hi all,

After a lot of delays it looks like my first ambient album, "Mossebo"
(with Lisa Barra on vocals on half of the tracks), will finally be
released this autumn! The main reason for the delay is that the label,
Lotuspike (www.lotuspike.com), started a collaboration with a bigger
label, Spotted Peccary (www.spottedpeccary.com), which required me to
sign a new contract and stuff. In the end this means that the album
will have better distribution, so it's probably for the good. Anyway,
now when all this is sorted the release is scheduled for mid-September
(just in time for my 30th birthday...). I will send a new email when
it's released, some time before that there will probably be a tracklist
and sound samples in the discography on my web site (which is updated
by the way) and previews on MySpace.

Here are the latest Sally Shapiro news...three new releases (on three
different formats) in the nearest few months!

- The remix album "Remix Romance vol. 1" is (as we have told you
earlier) out on CD on Apr 16th, but it is already today released on
iTunes! The CD is only released in North America (since it's released
by our North American label Paper Bag Records) but the mp3 release is
available worldwide. If you live outside North America and want the
album on CD then you have to order it from some shop in USA & Canada,
for example Paper Bag's own shop at www.paperbagrecords.com or from
www.insound.com in USA (this is not so expensive though since CDs are
cheaper in North America than in Europe) unless your local record shop
can import it for you. The CDs ordered from Paper Bag will ship already
next week. Check our web site for more info on tracklist, artwork etc.

- For those who prefer vinyl, or who didn't want to get the Paper Bag
edition of "Disco Romance", "He keeps me alive" will finally be
released as a double 12" on Permanent Vacation on May 2nd! The version
to be released is a re-mastered, slightly extended version featuring
Skatebård on synth brass pad (this version has already been on Sally's
MySpace for a while). The package also includes a brand new track
called "My fantasy" (probably the only new Sally track which will be
released for a while, so you better like it! ;)) as well as 4 of the
remixes from the remix albums (and a Lindstrom instrumental remix on
the mp3 release). Here is the tracklist:

Hi all,

We are back from our DJ "tour" (the Chicago gig was cancelled because
of logistic problems, so it was more of a "line" between Toronto and
New York) and it was an exciting experience. We met very nice and
enthusiastic people and we enjoyed DJing. A lot of people said they
enjoyed it and we hope they did. Other people probably expected more
from us than just playing our favourite music (without so much mixing)
- Sally singing or at least some kind of show. We had expected the
music to be more in focus, the DJs standing more covered in a DJ booth
rather than on a stage, and the people dancing instead of watching -
like on our gig here in Gothenburg where we are actually less known,
people expected less and came for dancing. If we do more DJ gigs as a
couple we will make sure that it's at a place where people come to
dance and not just to watch us. Preferably 80s clubs like Skoldisco in
Gothenburg, not rock clubs or festivals. Actually we have already said
yes to such a DJ gig in Malmö, Sweden, on May 2th, at an 80s club
called The Prom!

"Jackie Jackie" is finally out now officially on Permanent
Vacation...the 12" is available from record shops across Europe - on
the label's web site (www.perm-vac.com) you can see where you can buy
their releases, and also listen to a snippet of the Junior Boys
remix...the other mixes are streaming from Sally's MySpace. The 12" is
not for sale in Sweden yet but hopefully soon from www.bengans.se.
Downloads are available from iTunes, Juno and Beatport (not in North
America). Hope you like!

"Spacer Woman From Mars" was supposed to be released on 12" this week
but is delayed until March 10th because of some pressing plant problem,
which is solved now so it is currently in the process of being
distributed. It is already released as a download on iTunes and
Beatport though! The nice Rude 66 remix is also included on the latest
German Groove Magazine CD out this week, so if you for some reason want
that remix on CD instead of vinyl or mp3 it is possible...

This weekend we fly to Canada...we are nervous but excited! Apart from
the 3 DJ gigs in Toronto, NYC and Chicago, we will also DJ a bit at the
PLUG Awards in NYC on March 6th, probably as a warm-up set before the

the concerts, though it's a bit unclear yet. Hope we'll see some of you

It's been a while since something happened to my ambient music...but as
some of you might recall, last spring I signed an album deal with a
U.S. ambient label, it was supposed to be released this autumn but for
some label-related reasons it was delayed until 2008.

There is still no release date but the release is a bit more official
now since the label included a track from the album in their latest
podcast. The label is called Lotuspike (www.lotuspike.com) and the
album will be called "Mossebo", the name of the house where much of the
music was recorded. In this podcast (Lotuspike podcast #14) you can as
the last track (starting after about 30 minutes) hear the previously
unheard track "The sound of snowflakes touching the ground" with vocals
by Lisa Barra (previously Andrén). Enjoy!

- We are going on a short North American DJ tour! These will be Sally's
first public appearances! She won't sing, but we will play italo disco,
electro disco, all kinds of dance music and lots of Sally Shapiro

- The "Jackie Jackie" 12" will finally be released in February (April
