Happy New Year to all Hummel lovers!
:)
I just found an interesting tid-bit on Hummel while searching for
Hummel-Czerny relations:
http://www.oehmsclassics.de/cd.php?formatid=199&sprache=eng
Contains some nice quotes from historical texts. I am looking for
Czerny's diary, does anyone know whether it's ever been published?
I want to prove to a "sceptic" that Czerny ran away (temporarily)
from Beethoven's slovenly night pots to take lessons with Hummel.
So far, I have it only from one source (Schonberg's "Great
Pianists"), but an original document such as perhaps in the diary of
Czerny would help, too!
I am also looking for Ferdinand Hiller's diary, and was wondering
whether that was ever published.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.
Lots of good wishes for new Hummel CDs in 2007!
Marianne
