Good Mornin' ..
After this well deserved break in Turkeij ... this first impression of the new Chandos 10415 Cd .
Very well recorded ... very nice first time recordings of these works :
- Ballet Suite 'Sappho von Mitilene' Op 68
- Ballet Suite 'Das Zauberschloss'
- 12 Walzes and Coda (well known).
I am puzzled though.
When I first listened to this cd, yesterday, the 1st piece sounded very familiar ...
It sounds just like the "Ouverture zur Oper v Mathilde von Guise" recorded by the Thueringisches KammerOrch Weimar on their cd of "Variationen & Fantasien" .. at JPC.
When I say 'sounds like' , I mean just like ... like 'a copy of'.
Did Hummel copy or re'use ? Does anyone know ?
