Re: [johann_nepomuk_hummel] International Hummel Festival - Hummel & Friends - May 9-19, 2010, Bordeaux

Dear Ian,
Thanks for the latest information about the 2010 festival, which Ruth and I are planning to attend.

After learning about Berlioz's "Requiem" from you and some of the other musicians at last year's festival, I bought the CD and have grown to love this piece too.
I had the good fortune to hear it performed live 2 nights ago in Los Angeles, and it was fabulous!
I just wanted to thank you for making me aware of this piece, as you have for so many other pieces.

I saw the program for your festival in a few weeks time, and if it didn't fall over the "Day of Atonement" which is the most important holiday on the Jewish calendar, I would have definitely attended.

Regards to Sharon, and enjoy the music,
Neil Berkowitz.

The dates have now been determined. Howard Shelley will be playing concertos in 2 concerts, as will Andrew Brownell (Chamber transcriptions). The Chilingirian Quartet will be playing the 3 quartets alongside Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, other works include the Quintet arrangement of Op.74. Tickets available for individual concerts, nearby house rental for groups, or full residential option at Le Faure.

See Mark Kroll, biographer of Hummel interviewed on

Best wishes

I am back from Weimar. I have spend almost two weeks in Weimar (and Erfurt). Nice. I visited Hummels grave during my walks on the historic graveyard. I brought him two pots of flowers. The grave is well kept now. I have been here at least once a year for the past 16 years. great.

we had superb weather.

Concert news.
Consortium Classicum + Thomas DUIS Piano have a concert on Tuesday the 12th january 2010 ; 1900 hours. Concert hall of the Filharmonia in Warsaw. Grand Septuors by Hummel, Moscheles and kalkbrenner.
