«organic electro beats» is pure rhythm for the
d a n c e f l o o r ,
featuring the idea of minimalism and live energy.

it is a solo groove performance of the german drummer oli
rubow, a hand-played electronic live set without any loops,
playbacks or programmings.
it is only one person, an electronic drumset (ddrum4, tama
techstar, vermona drm) and some decent effects!

it is minimal-house in realtime with space for improvisation and
interaction!
groove galore!

in november 03 oli has recorded his electronic visions.
the CD (42 minutes with 126 and 135 bpm) will be released on
12/12/2003.

Hello list members. Here is some news from Jargon regarding the sunny OS
update. The original question's were: Will Gomorra have a booth at the
winter NAM and whets up with the sunny OS update?

Here is his reply:

Hello,

no, we'll not have a booth and I will not visit the NAM. John van Nest
will be there on 1-2 days and keep the contacts with some dealers.
The sunny evolves more these days as I have finished the arpeggiator
update and will publish
this in a few days. More is to come.

Best wishes,

Dear Jomox SunSyn users,

I have a tiny christmas gift for you:

The SunSyn arpeggiator update is finished now and ready for download on our
website:

http://wwww.jomox.de/SunSynDownload.htm

I'm sorry it didn't come earlier.

I know there is a lot more on your wishlist....for now, Santa Claus was too
busy to make it all at once. But there will be more time and space to let it
become finalized.

Best wishes for you all and

Happy Holidays!

Peace.

Hey Juergen

Many thanks to you !!!!! Yeahhhhhhh!!!

I have uploaded your GREAT GIFT : OS 1.12 without
any problems.

I used SYSEX LYBRARIAN on MAC OS X.

You can now say that the SUNSYN is compatible with
OSX.

You did a good job on the arpeggiator !! :-)

My studio will be very happy with that. Santa Claus
gave me a little brother for the SUNSYN : A nice KORG

Happy christmas

Hello Alex,

thank you very much for the info...could you be so kind and give us the link
to the SysEx OS X tool?
I want to list those tools on our website because we had many problems only
because newer PCs and MAcs with newer OS's don't handle the sysex stream
properly. They are too fast to transmit 128 k(!) Byte of midi data without
cutting blocks....;-)

I wish you a happy and SunSynny new year!

Hey MAC USERS !!!

I give you the link to download SYSEX LIBRARIAN

http://www.versiontracker.com/php/search.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=sysex&\
plt%5B%5D=macosx&jumptoCat=0

You must run OS X on MAC

I have tested the os upload with a MIDIMAN 4X4 USB (
but it must work with an MT4 or MT8)

-download the os112.mid on your desktop
-open syselibrarian 1.04
-choose the port of your midi interface connected to
the Sunsyn
-drag and drop the file os112.mid in sysexlibrarian
- then select the file
-prepare the sunsyn to receive the upload
- when READY clic on the PLAY button (in
sysexlibrarian, on top left)
-I did not change the prefs of SYSEXLIBRARIAN

ps: If the link doesn't work go to
www.versiontracker.com
and search "sysex" for MAC OS X

Tell us on the forum if it works or not for you

HAppy christmas

Alex

Hi - I am considering selling a immaculate 808 (purchased off Radio
1 DJ, Tim Westwood) to buy an xBase. I have the opportunity to get
one for £300 here in London (version 2.09 OS). My questions are:

1) One post mentions expanding the ROM sounds. Is this possible? I
love the idea of the extra airBase sounds but also love the x0x
style programming you get with the xBase. Given the choice I will
go for the xBase otherwise I will dearly miss my 808's interface.

2) I presume £300 is a good second hand price? If anyone else is
considering selling one, pls contact me.

3) Does anyone have any strong feelings why the airbase and its
extra sounds would be a better buy then the xbase?

Thanks for any info..

I think that you have to mod the xbase by removing the din sync to get the extra samples.  You are still limited to 3 note poly or more importantly 1 sample at a time.

I just recently acquired a airbase to go along with my xbase so there is the solution to that ;p (still waiting on a power supply though).  I wouldn't give up the internal sequencer for anything but if you use logic or cubase you will get around the airbase fine.  Be careful when looking for a airbase, some of the early models were defecting and the rim shot had a "white noise"  sound burst on the release (I drop a expander/gate in the signal path so its not worth fixing for me).

I would sell both units tomorrow if jomox released the super xbase/airbase combo and get that.  I think you will be happy with the kick for sure.  It can get soft like a 808 but I think it has a lot of sonic potential.

I can't comment on the price as I live in the states and my money isn't worth anything ;p

Hello Group,

Just installed the OS update for the Sunsyn. Unfortunately, my Sunsyn went
nuts after the update. The display screen is fine until after the bootup/startup
info is displayed.

After the OS version flashes the screen turns into two rows of 24 rectangles
with a green border around the outside of the rectangles. The only way to see
the menus is to turn your head at angle. Even then you can barely make out
the menus which are filled with a bunch of scrambled characters/gibberish and
  long numbers.

I REinstalled the OS. It seems to go through all the steps, but does not do
the "updating FRAM" part. Just stops after the midi file is played. It does
flash "SYS" during the update. It did display the "updating FRAM" part the
first time I updated the Sunsyn. No luck. It does make sound. Sort of random
and sometimes sounds like it should.

I tried to REinstall the presets, but never received the "fin" in the display. I
did see the "RCV" displayed while I was dumping
the presets into the Sunsyn.

I am using a PC and the Cubasis demo software to perform these updates.

Any suggestions?

^f.

Hello,

Yes, this is normal as to the recent version 1.12.
We always said that the arpeggiator in the SunSyn will be "just" a small
one, so we'll focus on the missing parts of the OS and the performance of
sound production. The midi sending features might degrade the performance.
Active midi thru might be a feature for future though.

I thought I heard it could load samples and process them, manipulting
the samples through a data PCMCIA card or something. Is that right?
And has anyone done this?

You are close. Via the pcmcia card, you can load samples, and the waveforms
they create can be used to drive the analog oscillators in much the same way
the built in rco's do. The effect is a much richer texture in the tones it
produces. These waveforms can also drive any of the other features in the
routing system's destination bank. I have not personally done this, for I
don't have a card, but one of the recent updates was the fix for this
feature. Try asking on the forum to verify if it indeed works. Seriously
tho, are u interested in this super synth?

HI

We tried in PARIS to use PCMCIA CARD with the SUNSYN :
but It doesn't wortk very well.

Impossible to format the Card with a Mac or a PC; and
with the SUNSYN!!!!!!!

So it was impossible to test to store our own WAVEFORM
sets int he SUNSYN.

So I think it is a part to be updated.

ALEX

PS: impossible to store PRESTET PATCH on the PCMCIA CARD!!!!!!

The sample loading seems interesting. Anyone else have gotten this to
work?

I'm interested I just can't afford a synth that costs over 2Gs. Mid
teens maybe.

Hi,
so i made up my mind and going to order a sunsyn next month.
Shall i order also one of these pcmci-cards for storing
soundsets/multis and waves, or does this not work since now?
Anyway, it took some time until i decided to buy one, but now i am
happy and i believe that sunsyn will perfectly fit to my other babies.

Its a good idea to order the SUNSYN ......... mmmmmm a
great synth!!!!

But I tell you that you can not save USER PRESETS and
MULTI on the PCMCIA card !!!!!!

THE PCMCIA CARD can just be used to store WAVEFORM
sets in the SUNSYN....... normally it works ; but no
one tested it !!!!

You have to know that SUNSYN is an anolog Synth and
not a SAMPLE player..... waveform are used to make
your sunsyn sound fatter with more harmonics.
