I'm having the same problem and want to get a few replacement pots
(one extra!). Has anyone done this repair and knows the part number
and where to order it? Or is this something we can order from Jomox?

Hi group,

there is a guy selling PCMCIA for storing samples and preset in
Sunsyn. Is that possible with last OS's?

Cheers

Hello, I have just purchased a xbase 999 and would like to know if it
is possible to arrange my 999 patterns using the Machinedrums song
mode editor? If so how would I go about doing this? Also does anyone
know when the 999 will have a song mode to arrange patterns. I am
primarily a composer and will be using this in my studio. I like to
make for 32nd note patterns that have variations and loop that in the
MDUW song editor then sync the machine to Protools Midi beatclock so I
can use Protools sequencer to start building tracks around the Drum &
percussion loops of my MDUW. For me personally I would make great use
out of the Jomox 999 if their was an implemented song mode built into
the OS!

Thankyou!

I have a buzzing in my Airbase99 individual kick output. Is this
something that a local repair shop might be able to fix?
The noise is not showing up in the stereo outs.

Hello all,

I am loving my new (to me) Sunsyn. Such a depth of sound and things
to experiment with have made music very inspiring for me lately.
There are many things I was pleasantly surprised about.
First off, the RCOs. I was ready for them to be just cheap sounding
substitutes for VCOs, but love how they sound either mixed with VCOs
or even on their own. I wouldnt have my Sunsyn any other way, thats
for sure.

Also the external filter input, which when tried on other
synthesizers, filtering one synth through a different one just seemed
to create a dull not so interesting sound... not so with the SunSyn.
A Microwave II synth I was considering selling is now indespensable...
It sounds amazing through the sunsyn filters for some reason.

Speaking of filters, I am having difficulties understanding the four
pole knobs and what changing them really does for the sound. Maybe
after more experimenting I will get the hang of it. For now, changing
from the 4 pole (24db?) mode down to 2 pole (12db?) mode gives quite a
bit of change in sound and tone color.
If anyone can describe how theyre using the filter knobs, I am all ears.

The SunSyn is also my first experience with frequency modulation. The
sounds are quite complex and "deep" - the ones left on my used machine
- they seem to have all kinds of warm distortion going on.

Anyway... we all know how good our SunSyns are. Just wondering if
anyone has some good links to online info on the type of frequency
modulation used in the sunsyn (not DX series digital version of FM -
not ready to try to tackle that information right now LOL)

Best,
KEV

Does Jomox usualy ship his products in boxes that say Jomox on them or does he
just wrap
them up in bubble wrap? I am trying to figure out if I got a new or used Xbase

Generally, there should be some markings on the box (model number/serial number) and the boxes usually have special compartments for power supply, etc.  Juergen can answer better, but if there were no markings on the box, I'd say that it was not the original box.

The 999 came in a super large box with like 20 layers of bubblewrap. The
power supply
was thrown in loosely with a non english manual!
Serial# for this unit is#77 Also it came with OS 1.05 I beleieve!

my 999, SN#87, came in a very generic, brown box with bubble wrap only, and from an extremely reputable, dealer.  Juergen was so under the gun to get the 999's out b/c of the demand, that I don't think he ever even bothered with 'proper boxing', etc.  Heck, we still don't even have rack ears for it!!!

Rest easy...if it hits hard, sounds hawt, and rattles your bawls, then you have a brand new 999 in your hands...

Mine with 1.05 as well. Go back and read through some of the threads here, Juergen describes the way to test the individual outs and there is a valid reason for the outs having residual filter noise I think....

Nova Musik is totally trustworthy, so I wouldn't be too worried about used/new units from them.  They are a top flight dealer, for sure.

Hi John,

Jomox has been selling gear in a professionally packed way since 10 years...as you and me know;-)

With the 999, we had been under extreme time pressure and making a new package takes one thing...that is time. About 4-8 weeks with samples and corrections...and so forth. A representative from the packing company comes along...and all the necessary talks that have to be done.
But we had to deliver and the time was needed for buying parts, organizing production, assembling, programming OS and a million other tasks to do.

NOW we have a new package for all 999 with foam parts (recycled PET) and compartments for power supplies. Yesterday the first "professionally" packed units left the house.

I hope that the earlier ordered units will satisfy the customers although the packing may have seemed to be a little bit improvized. But believe me, it has been not cheap though. There had been labels on the boxes.

Under environmental aspects, it is a very interesting discussion for me. I would love to get rid of these extensive packages.

Are you buying a package or a product?

Jürgen

Generally, there should be some markings on the box (model number/serial number) and the boxes usually have special compartments for power supply, etc.  Juergen can answer better, but if there were no markings on the box, I'd say that it was not the original box.

Yeah, looks like Juregen had to 'roll his own' initially...
i'm just glad we were able to weed out the differences between the initial packaging and the new product he's now distributing.  That should provide a solid base for his customers to work from, making all the other manufactures green with envy, since all they've ever done is use smoke and mirrors to package their consumer toys to less suspecting musicians.  </madness>

Hi everyone I am having a problem with mu new Xbase 999 & was hoping someone
can
enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong!

I have a tom sound on the Hightom stored in a kit with a pattern that is stored
as well. My
problem is this,

When I go into Pattern write mode and do an individual selection of notes for
the High Tom
track within the sequencer so that the select few Trigger LEDS are blinking red
when the
HighTom track is slected I then turn the tune knob to adjust the tuning
specifically for the
steps but the knob will not display ind the LCD screen where I am at from a
tuning
standpoint nor will it even allow me to tune the High Tom!

Instead it just jumps between two tunings so I cant fine tune the pitch to my
liking like I can
in Perfourm write mode. This is a problem for me because it renders the High
Tom useless in
Pattern write mode because I am not able to lock it!

Please help.

Regards,

Paul

Sorry to put this into two threads but I left out a minor detail in my last
post.

Also when on the HighTom track in Pattern write mode the decay & tuning knobs
seem to be
tied meaning that when I turn the decay it makes the tuning parameter jump all
over the
place and of course viceversa.

This makes it impossible to create a sound or tuning for the High Tom track!

I am curious if anyone owning an Xbase 999 has this same problem or not?

Thanks, Xbase 999 serial#77

Paul

I received my Xbase this way and have had no problems with it
whatsoever. I've been wanting one for so long that I was happy that
Juergen expedited the process the best he could and my Xbase came out
of the box flawless. No issues here.

Hi,

I received my Sunsyn today, and heard a little rattling
inside. Holding the Sunsyn aloft produced a very small nut,
not much bigger than the LEDs on the front panel.

Should I be concerned?
