Hi everyone,

This is Judy. I want to welcome everyone to the list.

tblandford@...
vhstimothy@... sure of name
radjrny@...

I guess the best way to start out is how we got into Jonathan. In my case,
when the Escape album came out, I fell in love. I really didn't hear any
Journey before. I instantly loved Journey. The Escape album was the first
rock album that I loved from the beginning to the end. It is also the only
album that we had two copies of, in our house. My older sister had it too.
So, that is how I found out about Jonathan. Oh, BTW, he isn't bad to look
at!!! Back then and today.

Another question: Do you have any of Jonathan's solo CD's? If so which ones
and what do you think about them? I have all of his CD's. Still looking for
Windy City though!! I love Back To The Innocence. You don't hear a CD out
today sounding like that. It is so real. Everyone can relate to each song.
His instrumental CD's are beautiful. I have always loved the piano, so I just
love them. For A Lifetime I would say is the best of the three. For Jonathan
to write those songs for his friends, for their weddings, is so wonderful.

OK, now it is your turn.

That would be Timothy Brown. :^)

Greetings Judy!

I am a Journey fan from back in the Infinity days and it was an
adjustment for me when Jon joined the band for Escape. It didn't take
long for me to acclimate to the new sound and the coming years
obviously proved the importance of his contribution to the writing
process.

Sadly, he is the only member that I didn't have a chance to meet after
the show in SF last week. :^(

Hi Timothy,

Welcome!! I'm glad you are here. Seeing Gregg leave probably was hard. I
love Gregg. But, I didn't know of Journey before Escape. It would be odd
coming into the band, in Jon's case. It is a shame you missed Jon in SF. I
bet his family was there. I have read a couple reviews that he left pretty
early. I did meet him, here in Columbus Ohio when Journey was here in
November. He was very nice, but very quite. Which surprised me? He wasn't
very talkative. But, Ross was sick then, so maybe he felt under the weather
too. I got a cool autograph on my For A Lifetime CD. And a couple pictures
to boot!!

Feel free to write anything to the list. That goes for everyone!!

Talk to everyone later,
Judy

Thanks Judy, for the Welcome.

I like you didn't notice Journey till "Escape". I knew of them, but didn't
really care for them, till Jonathan came along. I first saw Jonathan on the MTV
Houston Special. And I just knew that there was something very special about
him.

I also have all his solo CD's. I love them all, but my favorite is "Back to the
Innocence", becuse he sings on it. My favorite instrumental is "Piano With A
View". I do have "Windy City Breakdown" on vinyl and copied on to tape. If
anyone would like a casstte of it, (beings it is out of print) please email me.

I have followed Jonathan's career through the ups and the downs. I've always
had faith in him. I also run his "Official" website. I try to keep everyone up
to date on all events.

Thanks,
Rhonda

This is my favorite too. His singing is just excellent. In fact, on ebay
right now someone has the CD for bid on there. The description reads like
this: Jonathan Cain Back To The Innocence CD on Intersound 9142 from 1995.
This guy has a great voice (!), he could've done it all without Steve Perry.
He sounds like Jon Bon Jovi, without the shredded vocal cords. Then it goes
on and lists the tracks. I thought this was so nice. In fact, when I listen
to the songs now, I try and see if I can hear Jon Bon Jovi. A little bit.
That is a comparison that I never would have imagined. The CD goes in a
little over 5 hours. Right now the bidding is at $10.50. If you don't have
the CD yet, maybe this could be an auction for you. If not, there are a few
sites that are selling the CD.

You know I can't pinpoint a time when I first became aware of Jonathan and his
music. I know that Journey's music changed with the addition of his songwriting.
And I only really became aware of Journey after Jonathan joined the band even
tho my brother was heavily into Journey pre- Escape. (actually pre-Perry). So he
didn't help much! I have always loved piano in rock and just plain
keyboards/piano. (have a wide range of music taste). So needless to say
Jonathan's talent fell right in there with what I like musically!

I'd thought that I would share with everyone my favorite Jonathan Memory.
What's yours?
Rhonda Dirr

It starts out on a plane headed to San Francisco on April 14, 1991, in which I
am on. I'm all excited about meeting my friends Debbie Perdue and Teo Reyna,
and us going to see Jonathan perform with Bad English. They were the
headliners for a benefit, for the Childrens' Hospital. We had no idea just
how special this night was going to be.
We arrived at the Concord Pavilion just as the first of five bands were about
to perform. We stood by the back fence and watched the different bands arrive
and depart, but no sign of Jonathan. Then Liz Cain, her mother, Barbara and
Friend drove up in the backstage parking area. We then realized that the band
had been there the whole time that we were watching for them to arrive.
About an hour later Liz's mother walked pasted where we were standing. I
finally approached her to make sure that she was Liz's mother. Debbie was
with me, and Liz's mother remembered us from a previous encounter, in 1989.
She also recognized the "JON CAIN" license plate that I had in my hand. She
insisted that we sit with her and Liz. We grabbed Teo, and followed Liz's
mother to where they were sitting. Liz recognized me from pictures that I had
sent her and Jonathan. She gave me a hug and insisted that I sit next to her.
We all sat and talk until Bad English came on stage.
While talking with her I had mentioned that I would like to give Jonathan
the plate that I had and that we would like to take some pictures. Liz said,
that we would all go backstage afterwards and I could give the plate to him
then. Liz then invited us back to the hotel afterwards to talk and do the
pictures there. I would definitely say that this was turning out to be the
greatest moment in my life, to be sitting next to Liz Cain and watching
Jonathan on stage, and there was still more to come.
After the last encore, Liz took my hand and led all of us backstage. She led
us down to the hospitality room, where we waited for Jonathan. While we were
waiting we got to see, Miles and Neal's mother, Barbara. When Jonathan came
in; he came right over to us and sat down. He thanked me for the plate, and
then the four of us talked for about half an hour. Jonathan then invited us
back to the hotel to talk some more and to take the pictures that we
requested. We chuckled and told Jonathan that Liz had the same idea and had
already invited us and gave us instructions on how to get there. While
talking with Jonathan, he asked Debbie and I, "What were you two doing in
LA?". Debbie and I just look at each other and said "LA?". We were down in
LA on vacation in late February/early March. Debbie and I knew that Bad
English was recording their second album at that time in LA. We joked about
what we would do if we spotted Jonathan on the freeway. Ironically, he
spotted us on the freeway. But with me, and my lead foot and heavy traffic he
couldn't catch up with us. We then gathered our belongings and headed for the
hotel.
We all arrived at the hotel at the same time. Debbie, Teo and I went to the
lounge and found a sitting area for us all sit and talk in. Debbie and I sat
across from Liz, Jonathan and Teo. For about an hour we just sat and talked,
we learned a lot about Jonathan and Liz, and Jonathan told us some great
stories about his past. Finally about 1:30AM, we had to call it a night.
Jonathan was flying out at 8AM and I was flying out at 11AM. We then took our
pictures. We received hugs from both Liz and Jonathan. I really hated
saying, goodnight. I kept thinking of the song "Why Can't This Night Go On
Forever", I got teary eyed as we left the hotel for this was THE GREATEST
NIGHT OF MY LIFE!
I know that someday I will recapture that feeling again. I don't know where
or when, but I do know with who Liz, Madison and Jonathan Cain. I hope you
enjoyed Debbie's and my memory of that night, for we never felt so special, as
Liz and Jonathan made us feel that night.

Rhonda, what an excellent story!! My favorite Jonathan moment was on November
18, 1998. I had just finished watching Journey in concert and was really
bummed that I couldn't get backstage. Moni was standing there and she had
decided she was going out back to wait by the busses. So, I decided to join
her and a couple other people. Long, cold walk to the back. Then we had to
wait for over a half hour until the best moment of my life was about to begin.
Ross had already made it out and went directly to the bus. He was very sick.
Then Jonathan came out. My heart was pounding away!! He is the first
musician that I love, that I have ever met. I had my copy of his For A
Lifetime CD. I handed it to him and he signed it on the CD and on the back of
the CD insert. I thanked him and let other people come closer. I took some
pictures. They turned out really great. He wasn't very talkative, or I would
have talked his head off!! He must have been a little under the weather or
very tired. So, I didn't bother him. Once Neal came out, he headed for the
bus. I just couldn't believe I stood right next to him. Actually, talked to
him. Even though it was just, great show and thanks!! I can't wait for the
next tour. I sure want to ask him some questions!! Hopefully, I can get
backstage!!

OK, anyone else have a favorite Jonathan moment?

Hi! I am really enjoying everyone's Jonathan stories. I have had the
honor/pleasure of seeing Jonathan in person twice. Both times were unbelievable
and special - so I could not pick which was better.

The first time I got to see Jonathan in person was after a Bad English concert
in September, 1989 in Austin, TX. It was an amazing night. I stood right up by
the stage during the concert. Through a very strange turn of events, just a
short while after the show I was standing face to face with John Waite. I saw
Neal and Jonathan off to the side. My friends and I told their manager we
wanted to talk to Jonathan and take some pictures. Jonathan was really nice.
He signed autographs and took pictures - even though I am sure he was tired.
(It was really late by this time.)

The second time I got to see Jonathan in person was at Media Play music store in
Houston, TX in June, 1995. Once again, he was great. I took a copy of the
picture I had taken with Jonathan in 1989. He actually remembered the show. He
talked with me and my family for a good while. Later, he performed there in the
store - songs from his album and some Journey. He signed autographs and took
pictures with the fans for quite some time after he finished performing.

Both events were a lot of fun, and I got some awesome pics!!! Thanks for
letting me share. :)

Loved those stories!
I guess mine would have to be when I got to go to Jonathan's showcase at Third
Encore Recording Studio on March 26,1993. I was able to get my album of Windy
City Breakdown signed by both him and Mugs. Mugs couldn't believe I had it and
said "What a relic!" and Jonathan explained to me that it was rare and on 500
copies made. It was just real special to see him sing his songs and just be
part of it. I loved meeting other Journey fans too.
Another time would have to be when Jonathan played my friends wedding. That
was a real special day all in all for my friends.

Hi, my name is Judy and I am the list owner. Thanks for joining us. We have
been talking about how we first knew of Jonathan, favorite Jonathan moments
(meeting THE man) and his solo CD's. Please send in your posts for everyone
to read.

I first knew of Jonathan when Escape came out. Most people on the list is in
this category, a couple people are fans of Journey from Infinity. My Jonathan
moment was just last November 18th. I was at the concert of my life. I
couldn't get backstage. Real bummer!! Too many contest winners were going.
So, a bunch of us decided to go out back to the buses and wait. That was a
very long cold wait. But, well worth it. Meeting Jonathan was just the
thrill of my life. He signed my For A Lifetime CD on the CD and on the back
of the CD insert. That was cool!! He was very quite, didn't have much to
say. May have been under the weather. So, I didn't talk his head off like I
wanted. Next time!! My favorite solo CD is Back To The Innocence. He has an
excellent singing voice. You can tell he can write these songs by himself. I
can't wait to hear the new Journey CD. I wonder how it will sound?

Once again welcome everyone. If anyone has a problem or question, please e-
mail me. Have fun!!

Hey there! ;-O
I have been a longtime Journey fan, well, since Perry came aboard. I've never
met Jon or Steve. Got to talk to Steve durin a radio interview and I
have met Neal,don't remember much about it,was late,and let's just say I
don't have a good memory and leave it at that...lol...I think Jon is a very
talented songwriter and player. I got to see them on this tour in Nawlins
and that was a show they almost cancelled coz Augeri and Neal were sick.
It was an "ok" show, nothing great, but their bein "ok" is a lot better than
most bands great,if ya know what I mean? Clear as mud,I know. I didn't
go backstage and I'm not sure I want to. Since this last cd came out and
the reunion and all I think I'm on overload as far as information goes,it all
got a bit dirty for me and frankly,I'd like to keep them up on that pedastal
if it's all the same to everyone...Anyways,glad to be part of this
list and look forward to makin some new friends! Yal have a good week...

Hi all. I met Jonathan backstage in San Antonio. Got my picture with him and
he signed the CD covers that i had with me. He was quiet and looked great in a
Tan Cashmere overcoat. Definitely the hottie of the group. (poor Liz--I
can't imagine anyone calling my 47 yr husband a hottie. ha) wow.

He is one of the unsung musical geniuses sp of our time. I was amazed at his
bio.

OK Karen, I have to ask. Did you get any of it on video? Which cooking show?
Cable, local? Details!! I want to see it!! Yes, I have known he is a cook
for a while now. Where can I find a man like this? He cleans up his kids
barf too!! I thought that was so funny in the interview a couple of weeks
ago. Like we needed to know that!!!

Everyone, welcome:

llegate@...-?
rknrlmom@...-?
sdlake@... is this you? Excellent webpage you have.

Welcome to the list. We are just getting started, so bare with us. The main
conversation is how each of us got to know who Jonathan is. For me, it was
when Escape came out. From that time on, he has been my favorite band member.
Oh, by the way, I'm Judy. The owner of this list.

Everyone please write into the list with any thoughts, questions, comments.
We are open to anything. That is anything Jonathan!!

I want to welcome everyone on this list. It is great to have everyone here.

Later,
Judy
