"On Friday, June 23
BEFORE THEY WERE ROCK STARS
Includes clips on: Steve Perry's early bands, guitarist Neal Schon's smooth
stint with Santana, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain's big break on American
Bandstand. "
(Premieres from 10-10:30p.)
Sounds like a night to set your vcrs.
Hey everyone,
Did everyone catch the show tonight? It was great!!! It is repeated on 6/25 at
9:30 am and 6/27 7:30 pm. Make sure you catch it!!
BTW Rhonda, do you have that Bandstand on tape?!?!?! How great was that!!
YES!!
Judy
That was awesome last night! I hope they do a Behind the Music soon. That would be soooo perfect! Hope most of you got to see the show last night. If not, do try to catch it later. Jon looks really cute on American Bandstand :)
I think a BTM will be out whenever the new CD comes out. That seems to be a
great time for VH-1 to release a new BTM. So, hopefully in October there will
be one.
If anyone needs a copy of the Before They Were Rock Stars, please let me know.
I can get one to ya!!
Judy
Dunno if you guys have all heard this yet--this is straight from
Kevin Shirley's site (http://www.cavemanproductions.com):
"Also, I'm just getting set for the recording of the song for the
torch ceremony at the Sydney Olympic Games this September - and I'm
super excited about that! We'll finish the track in Oz with the
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - the same one that did that live Elton
John album, so I better get my SH*T together quick-smart. I'll get
some details to you, as soon as it's cool - it's a little premature
right now, but I can tell you that Jon Cain will be playing piano!!"
Do I hear a big WOO HOO from the peanut gallery? :)

That is way too cool!!! You want to know a weird thing. I dreamed of Jon the
night before this was announced on the list. I very rarely dream of Jon. It's
like I knew something was up!!
Congrats!!
Judy
Did you get to see the new pic of Journey on Kevin "The Caveman" Shirley's webpage? He had it up for about a day. It is evidently one of their new promo shots! Very nice pic!!!
I saw the picture too. I thought it was strange that everyone is in black
except for Steve, sporting red pants. But it's a good pic. I would like to
see the rest. I've always found it strange that not many promo pics have
anyone smiling. Everyone is staight faced. I'd like to see a smile or two.
Thanks, Rhonda

I'm agree with you on this, Rhonda. I'd like to see them smile too. They
all have gorgeous smiles.

I think they are using it on the "Official" web site now. Mine wouldn't show
up last night, but they said it was a new pic. Check journeytheband.com and
see if you can see it there. They are, as Rhonda said, all in black, except
that Steve's pants are red. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I will be off and looking there! Karen
First, A very special Thanks to Jon, Rin and Rite Aid for letting us crash
the party.
All the guys are very excited about the new CD coming out. We are most
likely looking at an October release date. And I'm waiting on a date for the
singles to be release. I've got a "Radio Station" page already to go.
(Personally, I'm thinking September.)
We (Shawn, Tracy & Myself (Hope you girls had fun!)) got to spend some
personal time with Jon, Steve and their famlies. Everyone just welcomed us
with "open arms". We really had a great night. Jonathan and I discussed
some new ideas for the website. I don't want to say what they are till we
get them in place. But, they are guaranteed to knock your socks off. They
did mine!!!
The Rite Aid people were so physced(?) about having Journey. They had just
come from their formal awards dinner. You should have seen them coming in
with long dresses and suits and ties. It was a site, but those people can
rock. When the lights went down, so did their hair. At one point there was
a girl standing next to me, mid twenties, all she could say was "He's so
hot!!!", refering to Steve. It was so cute. The set was the Greatest Hits
plus Remember Me and Fillmore Boogie. Hopefully, I'll have new pics of
Jonathan up this weekend.
They played for about an hour and a half, normal set. After the show, we
hung out for awhile with Jonathan and Deen popped his head in to say "Hi".
They had an early and long day ahead of them on Wednesday, so they headed
back to the greenroom. We said our good-byes and left.
We are going to be in for such a treat on the fall tour. The songs are going
to be fantasic and the guys are ready to rock!!
A big suggestion - If you can get a management job with Rite Aid, go for it.
They throw one heck of a convention, not only was Journey there, Styx and KC
and the Sunshine Band and they bought out the Hard Rock Cafe, Planet
Hollywood and ESPN Zone. Previous performers Michael Bolton, Reba
McIntier(?), Rod Stewart and the list goes on. Usually three bands to a
convention.
Well, I wanted to post what I could. I know a lot of people wanted to go, so
I thought I'd let you in on some highlights of the trip.

Need you even ask that question??? Did you see the ear to ear grin I was
wearing during the 3 days of that trip??? Yep! Definitely had fun! Sometimes
Life is really good! A big thank you to Jon, Liz, Rin, Rite Aid and all the
others who made the trip a highlight in the "Especially Special Life
Memories" area. That includes you, Rhonda!
Now, I'm off to the reality of work so I can pay for all the ridiculous
touristy things I don't need but impulse made me buy stuff that I got on the
Inner Harbor. I"m still having heart palpitations from walking out of a
bookstore without making a purchase....I may have to stop by Borders today to
balance myself out! ;) Although I did have an awesome crabcake! I am a happy
girl!
COME ON FALL!!!

Hi! My name is Rich and I've been a fan of Journey's for over 20
years. I also agree that Jonathan Cain is a great musician and
songwriter and I enjoy all of his work, including his solo projects!
I am already a member of the Steve Perry list and have enjoyed the
people and conversations!
I'm happy to see that there is a forum for those who enjoy Jon
separately from Journey, The Babys or Bad English! I've just started
a Jon Cain Club, on Yahoo Clubs, called Jonathan Cain's Isle Of
Fantasy! I named it for a song that appears on one of Jon's solo
albums. For those of you who are interested, the URL is
< http://chat.yahoo.com/chat/jonathancainsisleoffantasy >.
I also have a web site entitled Journey Into The 21st Century. You can
access it by going to < http://journey21stcentury.onweb.cg >.
I look forward to talking to other Jon Cain fans on this list!
Rich
Hi Rich,
Welcome to the list!! I'm Judy the list owner. Things are a little slow right
now. Can't wait for Arrival to arrive from Japan.
Everyone, have a great day!!

Well, I have some news. I talked to Jonathan a bit in Reno at the show there
and he was certainly hyped for the show and excited about playing the new
material, but saddened as well that his family got caught in the big snowfall
and couldn't make the drive to the show. You could really tell he wanted
them there. He told us about the 2 new rockers being added to the US version
of Arrival, which I'm sure many of you have heard about already. The Reno
show was awesome and everyone can't seem to wait til the official tour kicks
off. That's all I have..Anyone else have any??
Mary Ann
This isn't really news, but Journeycat has some photos of the show. I posted the link in my news section of my site; http://www.cableone.net/JimiJamisonFan I also have on there in the previous news section some photos of Chicago, Starship and another local band from here. Can't wait for the cd...I'll
have (hopefully) some photos from the concert I'm goin to Wednesday nite with Survivor, Styx and REO.
Take care~

Just saw Survivor, REO and Styx. It was their 1st show of the tour in Lowell, Ma. Great, as usual. Survivor really sounded like they did back in the 80's!!! I was impressed!! Even though they weren't too thrilled looking, and didn't even say "Goodbye" or anything at the end of their set!! They just walked off.

Sounds like Survivor needs to work on that PR a bit. I saw their first show when they got back together and Jimi was friendly to the crowd and us, but I know him so that may be why, but they did wave to the crowd and JJ had the girls up there singing with him....I don't know Frank at all...will let ya know how it goes. Have a Happy Thanksgiving yal...

Thanks Mary Ann for the update!! Jon is a family man, so I could image his family not being there upset him. It's been 2 years since I last saw Journey, and I'm dying here!! I hope the tour starts soon. And, I hope the release of Arrival is alot sooner than May/June.
