Looks like fun, but I'm kinda stuck in Florida for the time being. So I'm
looking forward to Dock's, and maybe the one in Melbourne (is that right?),
depending on how life shakes out.
Hugs,
Ann
Any 1 going to make it to Medicine Park Flute Gathering October 3-4?

Hi Jonny ~~
Are you and Lynn planning on being at Dock's Gathering this year. Will Lynn have some of her gourds there? I especially like the ones with the Zuni bears on them. I've misplaced her e-mail address, so I can't contact her directly.

I wanted to let everyone know about this event in Oklahoma.
It is short notice but that is how it has worked out.
There are many open slots for the open mic at this time. If you are interested
please contact dkay@... as soon as you can. You do not have to be a
professional to perform. This event is about good people sharing a love for the
flute and each other.
This is a amazing place to gather and enjoy the flute with others that share the
same.
Check out the link and make plans.
We hope to see some of you there.
Blessings to all,
Dennis Frederiksen
I hope that this message finds you all in great health and abundant joy! I'm emailing you all to see if you are at all interested in joining my newsletter. I send out updates every now and then letting people know what's going on and such. Plus, when you sign up, you'll be able to download 2 free songs of mine! I also want to make a quick note to let you all know how much I appreciate the support over the years. It's been an incredible journey so far! Hope to hear from some of you soon! Happy Flutin! -Jonny L.
Hey Everyone,
I can't believe how quiet it's been lately. Actually, only online it's
been quiet. I know everyone has been wrapped with the holidays and
such. Well, the holidays are over and the new year is here! I'm hoping
that 2009 will be filled with many more great things!
So did Santa leave anyone new flutes or anything? I actually recieved
a ukelele and a bamboo saxophone! Really awesome instruments! I'm
trying to expand my music abilities by trying out new and different
instruments. I think it's working. I'm also trying my hand at
transverse flutes. It's all very different than the NA Flute. But I'm
enjoying learning.
Hope this letter finds you all in great health and happiness! Have a
great night/day!! Happy Flutin! -Jonny L

As many of you know Randy Stenzel and I collaborated together on the first edition of Signature Flutes - "The Sweet B" - as we called them. Well this past summer while I was visiting and traveling with the Stenzels' we began working on the second edition. Between last summer and now though, Randy was diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer. He's doing well for the most part, taking it one day at a time. He's had numerous radiation treatments and a few small doses of chemo. He gets the big dose on the 10th I believe. I tease him that with all the radiation he's going to glow in the dark ... who needs a
flashlight!? Please continue to keep Randy and the rest of his family in your thoughts and prayers.
I'm not quite letting the cat out of the bag just yet on the signature flutes but, I can tell you that they will be in the key of Am. That's all that Randy is letting me say about them right now, hopefully though, if I butter'm up, he'll let me release a little bit more information. It's like that ketchup in the glass bottle ... anticipation. We have started a list for the people that would like to have this next edition Jonny Lipford Signature Flute! The sooner you put in your order, the lower your number will be! You can email me at:
jlipford@jonnylipford.com to have your name put on the list.
Wow! It seems like forever since I've sent out a newsletter. Here it is November already, Daylight Saving Time ends (I hope you re-set all your clocks!) and it's starting to get cold outside! Yes, even in Florida! Before you know it we'll be setting out cookies and milk for Santa! I know I'm going to this year, let's hope the others in the house don't get to them before he does. Anyways, let's get on with the updates!
I wanted to let you all know that I have been invited to perform at the 2009 Potomac Flute Event! I will be in part of the Afternoon Concert Series. I will also be giving a workshop and I will be available for private lessons; Details coming soon! The date has been changed this year to March 27-29 this year as opposed to February in the previous years. Looks like an amazing line-up this year including performances from Mark Holland, Jeff Ball, Mark Camden, Scott August, Jan Sieden, and David Landis & Diana Sunday! All sorts of new stuff this year! Check out the Potomac Flute Festival website: www.potomacflutecircle.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Merchandise Update-
I'm working on some new products as well. Soon I'll be putting up the smaller tote bags online as well as a cool "kapopelli" leather keychain as well. Keep and eye out for both of those to come into stock! I'll be sending out updates on these as well. I'm also getting some long sleeved t-shirts in stock soon. I didn't order many so chances are they wont be available online. But if you just "gotta-have-one", email me at: jlipford@... and I'll be more than happy to hook you up with what I do have available. If you guys can think of any other merchandise that you'd like to see the ole "Happy Flutin!" and/or kapopelli on, just shoot me an email at the same address.
Yesterday I performed at a festival in Georgia. It was a nice turn out and you couldn't ask for better weather. Fall is in the air! What a great way to kick off November! Anyway, while I was at this event there was a man that drew "caricatures". So, you know I just had to have mine done! I wanted to show you all how it turned out so go to my MySpace page and check it out in my pictures! www.myspace.com/sparkyunplugged2
This guy is extremely talented at what he does. Check out his website: Keith Middleton - Caricatures www.funtimeinternational.com

welll....shucks....
I've listened again...
and again... lol...
awww... to choose a favorite is soooo difficult,
but... I think I have narrowed it down to 2....
Remembering that my fav on Transitions is Vanilla Skies,
you can expect that track 5, Tears of Hope is probably my fav...
It's the simplicity and the gentle way the keyboard/piano supports the flute,
no competition, just a gentle bit of breeze supporting the wings of the song.
Second would be track 12, Remember Still.... again for it's simplicity,
yet also for the keyboard/piano work as this one builds it's simple song into something a bit more complex,
but does so gently, with intention.
I love all the other stuff, it's all so much fun....
but it's the gentle support of the flute that speaks to me most.

So how were the NAMMYs? You were there, right? How was it to see in
person? Didja get to meet any fascinating folks? Didja get to see The
Falls? I was cheering you on, but maybe next year, right?
I watched the NAMMYs on-line. The internet broadcast was provided by
"Single Feather Media" and run by Michael "Kicking Bear" Johnson.
Along side the broadcast was a chat group, with constant commentaries,
some good, some a little mean, and some delightfully silly. It was
great fun. Even got to say "Hi" to Arvel Bird there.
Michael did a great job. I guess the house microphones were not well
balanced for internet broadcasting, because he was constantly having
to adjust volumes and qualities. The MC's voice would blast, then you
could barely hear the presenters. Turn their sound up a bit, and then
the MC would come back on and lift you right off your seat - LOL.
Some of the performers were great, and some just awful. I was thankful
I could turn off the sound on the ones I didn't like. Some of it was
music genres I just don't like (hip hop), and some of it I think was
technical, as when Pura Fe, Star Nayea, and the Cherokee National
Children's Choir were performing together. The sound wasn't well
balanced on that one, at least not on the internet presentation.
I was glad to be able to watch the show. To me, NA music is flute
music, an extremely limited view, I found out. I was amazed to see NA
hip hop and NA raggae. I was especially surprised to see Felipe Rose,
the Indian of "The Village People" inducted into the Hall of Fame. LOL
- I just don't think of "The Village People" and NA music in the same
firing of brain synapses.
So the show was very eye-opening for me. And I came away with a few
non-flute names I want to investigate, like J.J. Kent - "I Am Red",
and Terry Lee Whetstone. Each category had sound bytes of the
nominees, just enough to tantalize me.
Anybody else watch?
(Can't wait to get your new CD at the Silverhawk Gathering. See ya
Saturday. Lookin' forward to seeing Lynn, too! Both of you need to be
prepared for Big Hugs!)
Hugs,
Ann
I will definitely be playing my Randy Stenzel "Jonny" flute for Randy and his family-sending good thoughts his way!!! All My Best- Dennis

Hello Everyone,
I would like to share some concerning news with you all. Many of you know Randy Stenzel of Feather Ridge Flutes. Well, I found out last night that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer. He has a tumor in each lung and one on one of his vertebrae. He was in the ICU though fully conscious. They have now moved him to a regular hospital room and have started radiation today. A treatment plan is being devised. Randy is in good spirits and staying positive so far. It's going to be a long road for him and his family. Randy is a very strong being but right now I believe he could use a little of our help. So I ask that you all would take a minute to send positive thoughts his way, a healing song, even a prayer for he and his family. Really goes to show you that you just never know ...
So guys, live every day to it's fullest and be sure to tell the people you love that you love them. I'll be posting more on this when I know more or when Shelly and/or Randy want me to.
Please let's not fall into the "me too" emails as we did before. I am open and willing to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge by personal email: sparkyflute07@ yahoo.com If there's something that you'd like me to tell Randy or Shelly you can email me as well. Thank you all very much. Please pass this info along if you will.
