Hey Cheryl & Paul,
Ive been studying this exact same question and from what I have found...no Steve
didnt have throat cancer that was a rumor started when people began seeing him
in the hospital visiting his sick mother who did have cancer. He did hurt his
hip on a hike getting ready for the tour on the album "Trial by Fire" so
needless to say he had to have surgery and couldnt make up his mind. The other
band members decided to go on without him after waiting for quite awhile. I
believe that he just got tired of life on the road and decided it was time to
live his own life and in my opinion he is entitled to that just as all of us
are!
Actually Steve has been busy the past few years behind the scenes and making
guest singing appearances on other artists albums. He helped with the musical
consulting on the movie "Monster" with Charlese Theron recently and at the end
of that movie he is singing "Dont Stop Believing" with Journey. They give him
credits at the end of the movie.
Other than that I suppose he is just living a normal, private life.
Hope that clears up some things.
Theresa*
