The cover i'm thinking that your drunk friend alludes to must be the crime
that is Paul Young's vomit inducing version. Somehow he has taken any emotion
from the song (though that itself is some kind of achievement!) and sings it as
if he's constipated.
To anyone who is not au fait with Mr. Young he had some short lived success
in the early to middle eighties in Britain with his middle of the road faux
soul atrocities.
