Audrey,
The latest we've heard is what David posted a few days ago:
"Guys,
It seems that Patricia is back in the recording studio at the moment (or
very soon). A new album will be released I would say in about 1 year but
it's not sure. If that's the case, there should be a new tour starting in
2008.
There is no info update because there is no info. For the first time in
years Patricia took 1 year off and managed to respect this decision. No
worries: she will be back in 2007 but I doubt it would be before summer.
Hope this helps!!!
David"
I'm actually happy she's taking time off - I worry that the years of nonstop
recording and touring will begin to take a toll on her physically and
vocally. I'm always excited to hear about work on a new album though. I
can't speak for anyone else but I'm hoping that this time she'll go back to
jazz/chanson style, as on "Je Te Dis Vous" or what Liane Foly captured on
"Les Petites Notes."
I'd also be very happy to hear her do a gritty blues album with some
down-and-dirty guitar on it like Walter Trout or Stevie Ray, but then I've
got a serious thing for the blues, the heavier the better. I'm still
reeling from back-to-back live shows in the LA area by Mr. Frank Marino and
Mahogany Rush a couple weeks ago - the word "magnificent" is the only thing
that comes close... That's *significantly* more intense that Patricia's
style though, or anyone else's for that matter. But GOD I love that guy's
jams - I'd catch him live every night if I could, but that would soon be the
end of my ears. As it was I had no voice for four days after the first
show, from yelling like a teenaged groupie through his three-hour
performance (Frank gives you your money's worth, and then some.) For the
second show I just stood there, silently, with this manic grin plastered
across my face...
But I digress... Patricia's performance of "Out of the Rain" on the Tour de
Charme concert vid is something burned into my brain - she's a natural for
blues. "Sexe Fort" got a little into the blues style but it was more in the
direction of rock. The only criticism I have of her style is that she often
allows her vibrato to become so pronounced that it overpowers the melody.
On her studio albums she keeps it controlled, but live it becomes very
exaggerated. 'Anyone else noticed that?
