I just discovered this newsgroup and the website for Kapustin,
something that has long been overdue. I am the only distributor, it
seems, of Nikolai Kapustin's music in the US. Now, Piano Today has
released an article about Marc-Andre Hamelin and Kapustin written by
Stewart Isacoff, who was one of the judges at the Van Cliburn
Amateur Piano Competition, where I played the first movement of the
2nd piano sonata in my preliminary round. The magazine has a copy of
the Kapustin Sonatina, courtesy of MUS-T Publications. We have
copies of the magazine as well as all of his available music from
MUS-T. I also would like to find a copy of the CD of Kapustin
playing his Preludes and Fugues as well as the Trio for Flute, Cello
and Piano,as my trio was heavily influenced in the last movement by
Kapustin's music.
