I agree - I find the joystick to be of very limited use. I have a full
size K1, and a K1r. I don't use the joystick on the K1 very much. I'd
pick the K1r for its single rack unit form factor over the K1M.

Nobody can tell you what it is you need, but I can talk a little about
the K1 joystick.

It allows you to mix, in real time, the four tone sources.
Unfortunately, it doesn't send MIDI CC messages, so aside, perhaps,
from some live performance stuff, it just isn't really all that
useful, IMO.

I have a K1 which i have had from new so that about 17 years, use all the time, Just had serviced as spilt coke into it. Use it at home with computer studio...
