Quantas Airlines has issued a brief statement after one of its stewards
offered Keith Urban a bottle of wine during a weekend flight in
Australia, according to the Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph.
Urban last year voluntarily admitted himself to an alcohol abuse
treatment center. On the Sunday (May 20) flight from Sydney to
Adelaide, one of Urban's assistants responded to the steward's offer by
noting that the singer-songwriter "doesn't drink." Later during his
concert in Adelaide, Urban reportedly told the crowd, "I knew I was
back in South Australia when the host came up to me, smiled, gave me a
bottle of red and said, 'Welcome to Adelaide, Mr. Urban.'" In a written
statement, a Quantas spokesman said the steward "genuinely did not
realize who the passenger was."
