Review: Murfy's flaw gig (from back to front:-)   Message List

10. We all huddle together. Waiting for the sun to
come out again.:-(
9. Navarone is forced off stage. By the rain.
8. Navarone come on stage. I won't try to describe how
they played because no words can do them justice. You
had to be there. All I can say is that Navarone
renewed my faith in the Kenyan rock scene. Hearing and
seeing them play reminded me why I put up with all the
nonsense in this scene. By the way, NAVARONE'S DRUMMER
FOR PRESIDENT!:-)
7. M20. It was my first time to hear them play. They
played RHCP's Dani California, U2's "Stuck in a
moment" and two other favourite songs of mine which
are often played on the new rock station ("Maybe
tomorrow" by Stereophonics and "Every you every me" by
Placebo) M2O's lead singer has a beautiful
voice:-)They also played a couple of their original
songs (as did Navarone). I was very impressed! I mean,
it's ok to hear Kenyan bands doing cover versions but
it's particularly wonderful when they play their own
songs, tell their own stories through song. Hey M20,
what's the name of that original song you played after
Dani California? Beautiful song! I want the lyrics!
6. The sun disappears. The clouds gather. I feel a
drop on my forehead. I say a prayer, "Please don't let
it rain".
5.Murfy's flaw (woooooo!) Their version of Linkin
Park's "Faint" was amazing! Her (I'm sorry I don't
know your name) keyboard-playing brought tears to my
eyes. I've always thought that the keyboard/piano is
more superior to the guitar.:-) Check your rock
history and you'll discover that those black and white
keys were right up there with (if not a bit higher
than) the electric guitar.
4. Murfy's flaw also did Linkin' Park's Crawlin'.
Brilliant! Crawlin' was the first Linkin' park song I
ever heard. In my opinion, it's the best linkin' park
song of all time.
3.Reema, Gwen would be so proud! Your version of
"Don't speak" was quite good. FYI, there are rumours
that Gwen will be getting back together with the guys.
It's about time! I'm ready for more No Doubt. No doubt
about it.:-)
2. Murfy's flaw also did cover versions of some
non-rock songs like Bob Marley's "Stir it up", Sade's
"Smooth operator" and Fugees' "Killing me softly". I
happen to like all these songs so I sang along and
thoroughly enjoyed myself! In fact, I began enjoying
myself right from the beginning. Murfy's flaw opened
with U2's "With or without you" Happiness. Joy.
Bliss:-)
1.The sun is shining brightly. En route to the Godown
arts centre, the venue of the Murfy's flaw concert, I
think to myself "What wonderful weather for an
open-air concert!":-)

Great review Mildred :-) It's like reliving the day. Thanks for all the guys who managed to come that day, and who stayed (despite the rain) to give us enough...
