Description
Like the "Tuvan Throat Singing" group that came before it, this group's primary focus will be discussion of traditional Central Asian Khoomei. That being the folk music of the Southern Siberian provinces and/or countries of Tuva, Altai, Khakasia, and Mongolia.
We will discuss the techniques of how to khoomei along with thoughts about the music of the traditional musicians including song lyrics and the cultural/historical context in which they were written.
Discussion of other related styles, techniques and hybrids will also take place, but the focus of this group will be traditional khoomei.
