Salutations.
Hello, I’m Mark Magyar aka Markus Magyar aka Mark Spotted Deer.Â
Different names but same person.
Some of you here in particular (like Brian Grover and maybe a few others)
might happen to remember me.
Back in the mid 1990’s I did happen to stay at a certain place in Chicago
where I met Brian Grover.
Â
No, I haven’t forgotten Brian and others there in Chicago.
Well, back in the Chicago days I just began an interest with that of the
Didgeridoo about the same time Brian did… But I didn’t keep up practicing to
play the Didgeridoo to learn circular breathing unlike that of Brian. Seems
like he plays Didgeridoo pretty well now.
After leaving Chicago I played the Didgeridoo for a very short time but then
I stopped.
Some instruments I haven’t stopped playing though like that of the Flute.
I’ve changed the style of music that I play and listen to now though. I
really like Native American Flute music and also Asian music as it is with a
pentatonic scale. A prayerful meditative kind of music.
A couple of months ago on YouTube I came across some Native American Flute and
Didgeridoo duets, In which now I have an interest in the Didgeridoo once
again. I would like to incorporate more of the Didgeridoo with my flute
playing but now it’s just trying to get the hang of circular breathing.. ?..
And then I thought about Brian Grover to see how his Didgeridoo playing is
coming along and to see if he could give me any circular breathing pointers…
About a week or so ago I checked in to see if Brian might be at the same place
in Chicago which lead me to the Busker Kibbutznik website which then lead me to
the Khoomei page www.busker-kibbutznik.org/khoomei/HOW-TO/index.htmlÂ
www.busker-kibbutznik.org/khoomei which then in time lead me to this
groupsite. This is my first time hearing about that of Khoomei but I
started practicing trying to learn how to do it after listening to Brian’s
Crash Course in Khoomei. After hearing Edo’s Song .. I would really like to
incorporate Khoomei somehow into that of the Native American Flute music that
I do. Â
Much thanks to Brian Grover and Sean P. Quirk for their tutorials.
Glad to know you.
I'll try to keep in better contact from now on.
Hope to hear from you later on sometime.
Peace and Blessings,
Mark Magyar
