It seems like just yesterday, I was emailing you to let you know what I
was up to, and yet, I can't wait any longer to share with you my GREAT
news.

I have been selected as one of the 1999-2000 DAC Emerging Artists, a
grant funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, The Mary Duke Biddle
Foundation, The Orange County Arts Council, The Chatham County Arts
Council, The Granville Arts Council, The Person County Arts Council,
gifts from the Durham Arts Council United Arts Fund, and private and
corporate gifts. This grant will enable me to go to the National Folk
Alliance Conference in February.

Being selected as an Emerging Artist is a real honor. This year, only
17 artists were selected.

An additional interesting bit of information. . . my husband, George
Buchanan ( www.georgebuchanan.com ), was also selected as an Emerging
Artist in the early 1990's. (If you are not familiar with his artwork,
you should check it out at his website.)
