Hello All,

Happy November,
I know I say this often, but I just cannot believe how time has flown
this year. I hope everyone remembered to turn back their clocks last
weekend. I turned mine back in more than one way . . . I attended my
20th class reunion and it is amazing how after a very short time
being around your old friends(now that has new meaning as well), that
the memories of High School come rushing back like it was yesterday.
We had such a good time. Instead of making me feel like I was getting
old, it actually made me feel rejuvinated.

We are off to PA for the North East Regional Folk Alliance
Conference. This is a wonderful event where musicians and songwriter,
presenters and other interested parties come to show their stuff.
Jubal and I have quite a few showcases scheduled, so wish us luck.

This show will be a joint show with Ada. She had previously lived in
Chapel Hill, and is now a resident of Asheville. We will be
alternating sets, with me playing at 8:00 and 10:00 or so. Come and
join the music.

one to pass along. If you haven't been following the whole NAPSTER
controversy you may be a little confused, but if you have, I am sure

Bertelsmann/BMG Entertainment announced yesterday that they
were taking a step earlier unthinkable by a major label: a
partnership with Napster. Napster, Inc. and its self-titled
Windows filesharing application have turned the music
industry on its ear. Napster has become nearly synonymous
with free MP3s and most of the traditional music industry
has shown nothing but fear, anger and an appetite for
Napster's destruction, as evidenced by the RIAA and its
clients' lawsuit.

Bertelsmann is an RIAA member and remains party to the
agency's lawsuit against Napster. However, Bertelsmann
claims the lawsuit will be dropped once the combined service
is successfully implemented. Meanwhile, Bertelsmann is
ponying up a loan to start the process as well as purchasing
warrants to acquire financial interest in Napster, the
company. Should Napster IPO successfully - unlike so many
other web/music startups - Bertelsmann could reap some hefty
financial benefits.
