I suggest you use MidiOX for all your MIDI transfer.
Make sure also that the 01 is configured to received SysEx (Menu, Page 7 is I
recall ?).

Objet: [korg01w-list] help loading Korg files
À: korg01w-list@yahoogroups.com

Could anyone give some help on loading these Pipe Organ sounds I got off a
Korg UK site into my Korg 01R/W? I downloaded the file; unzipped it; and have
it on my desktop. I don't know how to load it into the SoundTower program. I
have the Global set on ch 1, and the sys exclusive Enabled, but I don't know
what to do next.
The Read Me file says:
01/W Pipe Organ Sounds
============ ========= ==
Before you begin please note : This procedure will replace the contents of your
01/W's memory. If you have any valuable data stored in your 01/W, please save it
via Midi to a Midi back-up device before continuing.
You will need WinZip(tm) or a similar program to unzip the archived download
file.
After un-zipping the zipped file you should have two files:
01pipew.sys - MIDEX format and contains the raw Midi system exclusive data
(Starts F0 an ends F7). This type of file can be loaded directly into Cakewalk
on the PC as well as some shareware Midi librarian programs such as Software
Forge Sysex Manager 95.
01pipes.mid - a Standard Midi File that can be loaded into most modern hardware
and computer based midi sequencers (you can load it into Windows Media Player as
well) Once loaded into a sequencer it can be played out via Midi to the
Wavestation just like playing a song.
01pipes2.mid - This is the same as 01pipes.mid but also has some demo sequences.
Note: Korg system exclusive is channel sensitive and therefore this preload data
is saved using Midi channel 1. Please ensure you set the receiving Wavestation
to Midi channel 1.
To load the Pipe Organs sound into the 01/W
============ ========= ========= ========= ======
1. Connect the MIDI OUT socket from your PC/sequencer to the MIDI IN socket on
the 01/W.
2. Switch on the 01/W and set the basic MIDI channel to 1 (Global Midi Channel)
and ensure that the system exclusive filter is enabled. (if you fail to do this,
the reload procedure will not work!
3. Load the reload file into your PC/sequencer and transmit it to the 01/W.
4. When all data has been transmitted you should find that the pipe organ sounds
are now in 01/W.
