sure about the triggering. .

The mp4 has trigger mode switching. Use its negative (s-trigger)
setting for the prodigy. If you are building the prodigy, consider
giving it a standard trigger so it will be more compatable with other
gear; particularly midi to cv stuff.

Hi all, Im going to have to let go of my MonoPoly Im afraid, due to re-housing
of
equipment. *sniff*

It works fine, no problems other than the first key dosnt work on the keyboard
which is
probably just a contact needing a clean, other than that it works great, no
crackles on any
of the nobs.

Email me if you want to make me a decent offer.

Many thanks

Many thanx for the warm welcome.

I knew the former zen site and it was helpfull.
My biggest problem with this great synth is making sounds.
I wanted to make simple strings but its not so easy to make them on
this synth.
Before the MP4 i had a akai ax73 so i know how a synth works but
making just simple sounds is difficult.
There are times when i'm thinking that my mp4 is broken because its
almost impossible to create sounds but i cant compare my mp4 with
another to check this.
I know from other forums that there are more mp4 owners who can't make
good sounds and are dissapointed by this synth.
Any help is welcome
greetings frank

Just a few thoughts, besides welcome!

Perhaps it would be best to simply listen to the synth first, before you try to conjure up “strings” “moog bass” or what have you.  Listen first to just one oscillator, (turn the others down) and adjust the filter cut-off, resonance, as you may be familiar with from your former synth.  Anyway, I always told my students that if you have a sound source, a way to vary the timbre over time, a way to affect pitch, and a way to affect volume you have a very expressive instrument.  I think once folks realize that, sound creation gets lots easier.  NOW, if you are looking for the “classic” analog synth sounds, (strings, the usual basses, leads and so forth), I think you can get pretty effective sounds from the mono-poly.  Don’t forget that even way back in the history of voltage controlled synths musicians looked for all sorts of ways to be more expressive with the instruments they had… they experimented with tape delays, chorus effects, distortion, etc…so what may have started out as a Moog, Arp, Korg, Roland or Oberheim often became another instrument altogether.   Many of the sounds we like on older records where also processed by compression/limiting, etc, which drastically effects the way we hear the synths.  Regarding the MP4 in particular, it’s a bit tough to get really great strings with our 21st century ears… what sounded unbelievably realistic in 1971 sounds merely like a “keyboard” sound today…

Well, sorry for the verbiage, but I think you will be able to coax lots of expressive musical sounds from your MP4 if you play with it for lots of hours!!    Best of luck, and welcome to the forum.

I found a new web site that has replacement keys for Mono/Polys
(same as Poly-61s and PolySix's) as well as knobs, semiconductors,
and miscellaneous parts that vary depending on what's available. I
had the hardest time finding it using Google, so I tried search.com,
searched for "Mono-Poly", and used the "search within these results"
feature to look for "keys". (Looking for "replacement keys" using
this strategy didn't work.) Apparently I was his first customer; he
gave me a nice discount on the keys I've been looking for since I
posted my first message months ago, and he threw in the springs at
no charge. He accepts PayPal as well as the other usual payment
options. The web link is:

http://cu.imt.net/~sounddoctorin/synthtec/korg/monopoly.htm

He also has parts in stock for various other analog synths, is very
well versed in the technologies of monophonic synths, and has
several vintage analog synths for sale including a Mono-Poly! I
hope this information is useful for those of you who have been
combing ebay for replacement knobs and keys.

Good luck!

I am trying to trigger my Monopoly from a Triton that goes through a Deep Bass
Nine.

The only way I can get a result is by holding down a note on the Monopoly and
then playing
the Triton to change pitch.

I am new to using CV inputs. Surely I should just be able to play the Triton and
trigger the
Monopoly straight away?

Maybe I am just a muppet?

Any help would be apreciated.

Your question holds the answer. You also need to connect the TRIG IN on
the M/P to what is probably called gate out on the Deep Bass Nine.

So what! This is not the right forum for what your trying to show us.
Here's a real Mononpoly question; Well, I am tweaking my lil sweetheart
tonight and I came up with the original sounds from the Star Wars Video
game! Is that correct?? I have it on chord mode with a few different
timbres and it sounds awesome!!
If this is the case, I will have to make a song ASAP. I am only using 3
of the 4 oscillators, so I can run a dark PWM throught the mix and
achieve the dark side, wicked!

I am wondering if this was the synth used in the original Star Wars
video game? I seemed to have stubled upon a patch (after hours of
playing) and its a very close sound to the best video game sound track
ever (tron was good too)
I am using the chord function with 3 oscillators, some are different
timbres and so far it sound nearly the same, its just an awesome
feeling. The big suprise is that I can use the 4th oscillator to enter
the dark side via the pwm!
BIG LOVE FOR MP4 Today or should I say R2, heheh..

when i played it for the last time today,3 of the keys were intermittant(sp?)
here is a link to the info on cleaning keys(its for polysix, but monopoly has the same keyboard:)

shipping was 57 dollars(oversize box)-so dont worry about the overcost-
you will want to clean the key contacts every year or so at least
depending how much you play it.

thanks again, and make sure to send me some music links:)

Usually you want to record it direct from the synth to the computer.
Recording via an (guitar) amplifier is apossibility you may use for
special sound effects (if one dedicated synth sound should sound more
like a live played instrument, or if you want to record the additional
acoustic of your room).
