So I'm borrowing the KORG Mono/Poly that I gave to my brother. I want
to do some recording with it. I had poked around with it a bit before
giving it away, but couldn't control the sounds I wanted. How do I
harness this crazy beast?
Damn, it has sure been a while... I just realized today that it's been 18 months
since I went out with a special lady last, but I'm pretty happy to be heading
out tonight. I've had a bit of trouble finding ANY decent women lately so I
joined up at this place a couple of weeks ago
http://www.luversmeetinghere.info/bakf . And so far been doing pretty well, just
chatting to a few girls near me on Webcam and via the mail system on the place,
but this is the first one I've lined up. So anyway, wish me luck guys!!
I'm looking to buy a korg monopoly. I could trade you my polysix,
which is really sweet, too. Or I could just pay money. Any offers?
Any suggestions for how to find one of these things?

Hey Dudes! I'm trying to record my monopoly and a mic onto my ibm
laptop. windows. 80GB. I've got a nice amp that i could use. i
haven't bought any software or a soundcard yet. I'm on a budget.
does anyone have any suggestions? should i go through the amp output
or is there a way to record directly from the synth? never done this
before.. thanks a bunch!

Usually you want to record it direct from the synth to the computer.
Recording via an (guitar) amplifier is apossibility you may use for
special sound effects (if one dedicated synth sound should sound more
like a live played instrument, or if you want to record the additional
acoustic of your room).

I have a mono/poly which appeared to work fine for some while. then,
one day, it stopped working out of nowhere. The gate light still
lights up when the unit is on and some white noise can be heard when
keys are pressed, and the filters can be heard to work. Does anybody
have any idea what might be wrong? I have some basic electronic skills
and I am competent with a soldering iron. If anybody has any clue what
I can do, please reply or contact my personal e-mail.
Thanks a lot,
Bryan
Hi, everyone.
I'm new, not only to this messageboard, but to analog synthesizing in
general. Right now I'm experimenting with my friend's M/P. Such a
great instrument! I can stand for hours just playing with the
arpeggiator. I am a member of a band that some of you might find
interesting (perhaps). Check it out if you have time...

Hi,
I use a Gator GMIX 20x30 hard case, and it's a near perfect fit for
the M/P. I would assume that a mixer gig bag would also be a good
fit.

Hello everyone,
I just picked up a Korg Mono/Poly in practically mint condition for
the great price of $100 over here in Ottawa. Works lovely! I'm quite
glad to have found a great resource like this group on the net!
Currently I only have one little question, though I am sure I'll have
quite a few more as I dive into this synth. Some of the knobs are have
a tiny bit of fuzz to them, should I use a can of compressed air, or
some kind of contact lube to clean them? Any reccomendations of a brand?
Thanks!
- Peter
Hello,
Im considering replacing the wood casing on my monopoly since the wood
(fiberboard) is a bit beat up. I was just curious if anyone else in the
group has taken on the project and if they have any pics?
-Kraig
Actually, after just playing with the knobs for a few hours, all of
the crackling has disappeared!
Other than the patches posted here, where else can I find a collection
of example patches for the Mono/Poly. I'm especially interested in fat
leads/basses, and string sounds.

anybody wanna help me or no?
I would suggest asking at Vintage Synth Explorers forums. I'm a
member there, and there are some pretty knowledgable people on there.
Hope they can help.
Hi
The schematics are here:
http://www.synthfool.com/schematics/Korg_MonoPoly_Servicemanual.zip
First thing you should check is the powersupply. Measure the supply
voltages. Maybe simply the fuse. May be dryed electrolyte capacitors.

It might be easier to find a local repair-person. Somewhere inbetween your
gates and your oscillators something's wrong, but it's hard to say where.
Where are you located?

Hello all. I recently acquired a Mono/Poly and I love it. I have a
Midi to CV converter box which I know I can use with it to some
degree. Here's what I'm looking to do though, and I don't know if
it's possible. I'd love to be able to somehow get the arpeggiator to
lock up with the tempo grid in Acid 6.0. Is there anyway I can do
this? I want to play arpeggiated sequences into Acid while building
around them (kinda like mid-70's Tangerine Dream).

Hi,
I don't know your Program, but I assume, it produces MIDI-Clock or note
events. So either you will need a MIDI-Clock-to-analogue-click-converter
maybe a Roland SBX10,
Or you program 16 (short!) notes per bar in your program, then convert
them to CV/Gate, and use the gate.
Now you have a tempo trigger. This voltage based trigger must be
converted to a socalled switched trigger (or S-trigger).
I do not know any commercially available converter, but there is a
description of how to build it on the Doepfer homepage (it is really
very simple if someone can solder).
http://www.doepfer.de/faq/gen_faq.htm#S-Trig
Best regards, Florian
