Hi everybody,
I'm a wavedrum virgin no longer.
Due to the graciousness of Matthias Grob, I have a frame drum
to play with for a few months.
I just took it out for a test drive and used it in my
concert with my brother's group, New Delta (his incredible lap steel
slide/live looping inspired by musics of the Mississippi Delta,
the Nile Delta, the Ganges Delta and the Yangtze Delta) opening up
for the amazing Argenitan singer/songwriter/live looper Juana Molina.
I got got video and good audio recordings of the gig so hopefully I
can find sometime in my busy schedule and post them either here or
at youtube.
The drum is really amazing! I am also extremely interested , lately
in the concepts of manipulating the overtones of feedback, distortion,
fuzz and overdrive and I noticed that the four microphones in the unit
allow me to put an amplifier directly underneath the unit to create
feedback rather easily.
For some people, that whose experiences I have read, that has been
somewhat of a problem but I'm like a pig in shit.
This is one of the most easily manipulatable sources of feedback that
I've ever found. Because of the pressure sensitivy I can stop
feedback in it's tracks or manipulate it's pitch (in the pitchable
bending patches).
So, I'm just loving borrowing this and finally can relate to some of
the discussions on this list.
Also, I did an exhaustive search for the manual on line and found one
guy who is planning to publish the entire thing, but now Matthias told
me that Jon Wagner has already graciously published at least part of
it........that'll be my next post for the archives.
Good to be here.
yours, Rick Walker
