It sounds to me like effects are similar, the Ampworks basically being the
effect and preamp sections of the PX4B with analogic style controllers.
Following this logic, the AX-10 B is an ampworks with floor controllers.
Actually, I have to say that I was very disappointed by the AX-10B. Being
the successor of such a mighty box as the AX-1B, I thought it would be a
brilliant unit.
Well, it's average. It sounds ok but misses many interesting effects the
AX-1B could produce, such as the Drone or the Ring Modulator. The kind of effect
you only find in multieffects because they're not worth buying a separate
pedal.
Compression hasn't been really improved. Overdrives are much better.
It also lost fine editing functions such as patch naming and LCD screen.
It doesn't even have a real wah but instead a sweepable filter.
I was not impressed, which in a way is a bit sad since I've always supported
Korg units for their efficiency and musical qualities.
This list is a bit dead now. There are many many members but very littel
discussion so really I don't spend much time trying to make it live.

Anyone compare the PX4B to Ampworks? I now have both and am
interested in opinions.
Thanks,
Jim
