i guess he doesn't know what it means..

with the esx you can use any sound you want from any source. you
import the samples in a wav file from your computer via smart media,
or sample external tone generators or whatever you want. reprocess
them, edit, etc. it has sounds on it but they are lame as hell. you
may change them out and/or delete them, i recommend doing so asap.
the esx does not create sound. it only uses sounds that are stored
inside of it.

the emx is a synth and drum sequencer. it has it's own sounds that
you cannot change out but you can edit them to your heart's content.
very weird sounding. =X

honestly i'd just get both ;)

I know one is a em-1 type and one is sampler based. Are the drum sounds the same?...
