Hi All!
Is there an issue with sending MIDI to a MS2000R from a Mark Of The Unicorn's
Fast Lane-USB? I am having problems. I am sending MIDI data to the Fast Lane-USB
from a Cake Walk product called Pro Tracks. Unfortunately, the MS2000R does not
have a dedicated LED to observe MIDI data transfer.
Thanks, for any help you all may give!

Any cheap old MIDI interface would do, depending on what you want to achieve.
If you want full in/out control for each device without having to worry about
MIDI channels et c, then minimum 3in/3out would be required.
Otherwise you can use the MIDI in/out/thru of each device to create a chain, for
example
from computer -> electribe -> r3 -> ms2k -> computer
For this you could use a cheap 1in/1out MIDI USB dongle which sells for not much
at all.
The Korg manuals come with setup details for various combinations of devices.
Saying that, the MOTU micro lite looks nice, maybe I should get myself one...

Hi,
I think this may be the answer you're looking for -
http://www.motu.com/products/midi/lite/
It's priced reasonably, too. I have one of the first generation MOTU Midi Time
Piece units from the 90's, and I have had success with it.
This piece should allow you to accomplish what you're after, be it trigger the
sounds from your hardware pieces via ableton live, or if you have pre sequenced
parts on the electribe that you want to clock to start when you play your
session.
Good luck in your endeavor, and please let me know if I can help.

Hi, for a few days now i've been wondering how to sync ableton live to the
following devices (all of them working together):
1. korg r3
2. korg ms2000
3. korg electribe
please if someone can help me telling me what things i need (like midi
interfaces, etc) to pull this one off.
thanks!
Though this has nothing to do with my MS2K *yet* here is a composition where I
drive 6 soft synths with my guitar.
Details and video are here http://chrisvaisvil.com/?p=25
I intend to hook up the guitar to my korg in the near future.
Chris

As far as I'm aware Live doesn't support recording/playback of SysEx dumps.
Cheers

Yeah, I tried it as well and I don't think Live understands sysex messeges. It
would be great to have your project stored with the right patches! I've managed
to do it in Cubase and Nuendo, not for 1prog but for all. Anyone who knows more
about this?

I tried it all, and couldnt save presets so live can recall them later!
I made rec, go to Global, page 3f and did a 1prog dump. Live seems not to record
these messages,
I also tried external instruments and the save preset option and it doesnt work.
I did enabled sysex and all changes in global mode...
Someone is doing it in live or any other app?
Ableton won't "see your synth", just the midi out. Send notes to the M-audio
24/96 -midi out on the right midi channel (1 by default) and you'll be in
business.

Hi All!
Please help me!
I Bought My Korg ms2000r last week, but i can't play that.
I Have a M-audio 24/96 Pci soundcard ,
M-audio oxygen49
Pc with ableton.
Set up:
M-audio oxygen49-midi out => M-audio 24/96 -midi in
Korg Ms2000r-midi in=> M-audio 24/96 -midi out
And the ableton doesn't see the synth.
How can i play the synth with oxygen49?
Please write me step by step.
Thanks,
Rob
Hi Daz, Everyone,
Having started programming I can see how it would be difficult to write a
conversion program for MS2k to the EXB-Radias board. Any dual or split
patches have to be programmed as two individual programs then a combi
created to get the whole thing to work. I was wondering though would it be a
difficult task to convert a bank of sounds that was totally made up from
"single" patches? I am wondering if now is the time to dip my toe into the
world of systex and have a go at writing my own program for the conversion.
I'm thinking this is no small task so any advice on a starting point or tips
would be very cool. Maybe some suggestions on small projects to "cut my
teeth" on or some recommended reading?
Regards,
Ian

Hey Ian,
I wrote a couple of converters (R3->Radias, MS2K->Radias), but didn't do one
for the EXB-RADIAS. Unfortunately the EXB-RADIAS doesn't understand patches
from the Radias rack/keyboard.

reading some where that our resident wizard Daz had something to do with
converting some so was not sure if this was something available here like
the patchbudy I use for my MS2000 or if it was a manual recreation that he
had done. My Radias board arrives this weekend so cant wait to road test it!
I'm already thinking about which of my fav MS sounds I want to recreate.

You can download the manual for our beloved synth from here :
