I think Marco makes a good point about the Z1 arpeggiator.

I have tried various keyboards with arpeggiators and auto
accompaniments (rhythm and bass), but they do not send these via
MIDI. You play a straight chord and it sends out a straight chord.

I was really excited when I first discovered that the Z1 can send an
arpeggiated version of any chord you play to any other instrument and
to a sequencer. This can include preset bass and rhythm patterns and
any new ones you write.

whats good? I have a couple of modules but no midi contoller. would the korg z1 be a good midi controller? How does the bass sound? thanks in advance...

As midi controller it's very good imo. Every knob and swich sends a midi control change and also the arpegiator sends midi messages. About the bass sound there...

If the question is whether or not to get a Korg Z1, just get it. You'll love it. I've been doing synths a long time and the Korg Z1 is hands down the best...

My main obstacle to using the Z1 for a controller is that it only transmits on the Global MIDI Channel, and there's no quick-and-easy way to switch channels...
