What !! a club for the triton , the trinity and
nothing for us <br>This club will is the best place for
exchanging tips , sounds , links , advices ..ect<br>We can
also talk about other topics ; sequencing , sampling ,
other synths [how they compare...] <br>but this THE Z1
CLUB <br>see you soon
I hope <br>1)You all love the Z1 as I do<br>2)We'll soon have lots of
information and ideas being exchange <br><br>Who I like ? :
T-Dream,Vangelis,Jarre,Kitaro,Jens Johanson...
I still don't own a Z1 yet, but i'm in,love with
it from playing at the guitar center. I wrote a good
reveiew at sonicstate.com on it a while back.<br><br>WHO
I LIKE? <br><br>Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Timbaland,
and a lot of electronic sounding dancehall music.
I found this club via sonicstate, and I have
owned a Z1EX for about 6 months..I LOVE the synth. I
have heard people say it's lame, crippled etc...they
are just too lame to actually program it and spend
the time to reallly develop sounds.<br>The Z is one
hell of a synth beast!<br><br>My faves:<br>Jarre,
Kraftwerk, Skinny puppy, X marks the pedwalk, FLA,
Techno...electronic music in general..as long as it is good!
You cannot possibly own a Z1 , know how to
program and say "it is crap "<br>If you're just some
beginner who tried it for half an hour or so don't be
surprised if you can't make it sound good<br>Go and learn
how to program it and you'll get the best sounds !
Excellent!<br>Feel free to visit my ZeeSite!
(soon going to be updated!) Please send me some links,
and Z1 stuff, and I'll add it to my page.<br>Pål Olav
Loftesnes<br>poloftesn@...<br><a href=http://surf.to/ZeeSite
target=new>http://surf.to/ZeeSite</a>
Its nice to know so many people love the Z1
!<br>(check how many visitors there are )<br>If you're a
beginner feel free to ask questions<br>If you're an
"expert" same ... If anyone has great sounds we can
exchange sounds ..<br>I am actually working on programming
some complicated sounds quite hard to describe but
relatively unique ... If I manage to finish it and have it
the way I want it to sound I'll share it with you
guys .<br><br>Don't forget to ask any one who you
think would like to join this club to join it ! the
more we are the more tips , the more sounds ...
I think it would be great if we could exchange
patch ideas etc...I have some cool soundsI would love
to change for some other sounds.<br><br>I have had
some fun with the Cross modulation OSC.<br>Try feeding
a square sub osc into a cross mod with the edge set
in the 60 range with depth in the 40 range. do that
x2 and filter away..give some cool modulation .Put
some lpf and Bpf on it..and it really
kicks<br><br>simple and effective!
Thanks to Speedmetalsymphony, I now am a member
of the club. I look forward to dropping by when I
have a bit more time to talk about this amazing synth,
and to see what we can all do to learn more about it.
<br><br> See you soon, <br><br> pkjazz_z1
What the f*** is poloftesn doing !!<br>--you
should know that<br> im joking --
:)<br><br>ADVICE<br>Some basic idea :<br>1)We are seven in the
club<br>2)Say we all know 3 ppl who have the Z1 but not member
here <br>3)They may also know 3 other who own a Z1 but
who still aren't member . Since they know u and
that<br>u are in the club , its like if they knew 2
ppl<br><br>So if we all invite them [using our invite
thing]<br>it makes 7*3 + 7*3*2 so (7*3)(2+1)= 62<br>In total
we would be 62+7 = 69 members..<br>So go ahead and
we'll be about a bit less than a hundred Z1 lovers in
here to share sounds and stuff .
<br><br>QUESTION<br>Do any of u guys know any cheap but reliable brand
<br>for a PCMIA card?<br><br>PREDICTION<br>We'll be a 100
in this club by Sunday morning :)
hi everybody !<br><br>i don't have a Z1 yet buy
will... very good brass and atmospheric sounds, and
awesome programming resources !<br><br>here in Brazil i
couldn't find one to try, so I have some questions to
all:<br><br>- how the elec.piano models sounds and responds...
it can really reproduces all the variations of the
old rhodes suitacase e stage models and wurlitzer ? I
have a jv-1080 with the 60's and 70's keys expansion
and it sounds very good but lacks expression
(velocity switching soft and hard samples)<br>- and about
the guitars (eletric and acoustic) ? they're good for
virtual lead guitar work and produces the variations of a
real one like harmonics, pick position, etc...?
<br><br>- i've heard that in multimode all the sounds go
through the same effects... can I specify if a sound go
direct to the out or pass through the effects section
?<br><br>best regards,<br>Marcelo
Correa<br><marcelo@...>
The elec piano models are awesome..they sound
damn real. Responsivness can be programmed to a fine
degree..does a rhodes and wurlitzer very
well<br><br>guitars...well..I have not heard a keyboard that does guitar very
well..but this one does a pretty good job.<br><br>yes, in
multimode all parts of the patch go through the same
effects. it's one of the flaws.<br>It has no eeffect on me
because I only record with it, and when you record, you
have to record one timbre at time with no efx.
<br>However...minor price to pay for the raw synth power this thing
has!<br>Jason
Thanks Jason !<br>I agree about the synth
emulating guitar (especially elec.guitar)... there are so
many options like strings gauge, picks, pickups, even
fingering that probably it'll never be totally reproduced
by a keyboard (anyhow i prefer to listen a real
guitar player, like steve vai, pat metheny or allan
holdsworth)... real guitarists sometimes cannot reproduce the
sounds they generates with their guitars and
racks...<br><br>[]'s Marcelo Correa<br><marcelo@...>
Hello everbody! This club is a very good idea,
I'm suprised how little there is for this synth out
there!<br>I tried the cross mod idea and saw that it was
good! However, I didn't get to the filtering stage cos
I got side tracked by adding EG's to the cross mod
depth. I think I liked adding a nice slow triangle LFO
at about +2 the best. If you use different LFO
speeds on both oscillators you get some nice
movement.<br><br>I've sent 1 sound to ZeeSite. Its not very good, but
perhaps it might give everyone some ideas? Its based on
comb filtering (I think) noise, if you fiddle with the
noise Fc and resonance you get quite an ozric tentacles
sort of squidge.<br><br>I'm at work at the moment,
better go and do some things..... enjoy!
I am sure at one point..everyone has done
this!<br>I spend inordinate amounts of time programming
patches..espc on the Z1! You have to put the time in to get the
sounds!<br>I had the lead sound of what I think is a
minimoog(?)in pink floyd's "Welcome to the machine" At
least..it had that hard synch kinda sound to it(stand
osc+synch osc). I was attemping to save it in another slot
so I could tweak it into a fat resonate
bass...and...I OVERWROTE it!<br>ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH! HOURS down the
drain!<br>just a friendly reminder..back up your patches!<br>one
push of a button..and it's gone!<br>simple and stupid!
<br>I now put on my dunce cap and sit in the
corner<br>Jason
For you guys , which is the best (the least bad )<br>preset sound ? I find that
one of the electric dulcimor (A6 or 7 Im not sure)thing is not bad .<br>What do
u think ?
Hmm..... I like that one too. I also like B92
"Analogue lead". Its interesting that this one doesn't use
distortion to get a nice squidge, just loads of feedback in
the mix - it sounds good in multisets with other more
effect greedy sounds. I also like B59, "Glowing nights"
and B2, Digimorphous.<br>How do you guys write
sounds?<br>I've recently been going through the Z1 examining how
all the presets are made. Although most of them are
quite bad, there's always something good there, a nice
filter EG, oscillator or something. When I initialise a
program I start off by copying good oscillators, EG's, FX
from various programs, and then start tweaking! I
think this is a good way around the Z1, working in
blocks using the utility page a lot to copy stuff from
place to place.<br>There are 2 sounds I would really
love to have, the cool squidge from Prodidgys "voodoo
poeple" and the lead sound from L.S.G "hearts". Has
anyone heard that? It is one of the most lushed out
trance sounds ever. <br>Any ideas on how to do
these?<br>Apologies for long and meandering postings, but I don't
know anybody else with a keyboard!!
Hello, me again. It must be because I'm bored at
work and looking foward to getting back to my Z1 that
I check this club out so often!<br>I've got some
sounds with me, right now, in my bag. I've been busily
programming them over the past week or so. They could all do
with some tweaking and inspiring application of X/Y,
but they're a start. I think it would be fun if we
swapped 1/2 made sounds like this and see what each other
can do with them!<br>I sent some to the ZeeSite, but
I don't think he's got around to uploading them.
Send me an email and I'll attatch them and send them
to you.<br>My work email address is
thopewell@...<br><br>Check out the website www.musicchoice.co.uk
to see
where I work!<br><br>I seem to be here most of the
time!..... :(
Hello,<br><br>I recently purchased a Z1
second-hand and I'm very confused. Everytime I'm in multi
mode in says I only have 6 voices available at the top
of the timbre page. Shouldn't I have 12? Am I
overlooking something or did I get shafted. Any help would be
greatly appreciated...<br><br>-Tim
Well - hate to reply to my own post, but I
thought this would be useful to everyone here. I called
korg cust service and was told that there is something
wrong with my Z1. It will only recognize 6 voices of
polyphony in multi mode...<br><br>The cust service rep did
say that korg would fix the problem free of charge,
even without my being the original purchaser. So,
kudos to korg. Its just to bad the guy who sold it to
me wasn't upfront about it. Thanks...<br><br>-Tim
I remember that one!! I bought mine ex-demo from
London. It took me a while to find the problem and it
took Korg 2 months to fix it! Nightmare....<br>To
think the guy that sold it to you didn't ever find
this. Poor chap.<br>I've forgotten to bring my sounds
in to work with me today, but I'll have them on
Wednesday so send me emails so I can reply to you and
attatch them in sysex format.
Hi guys<br><br>I was wondering if anyone new of
any pros who use the Z1 as part of their setup.
<br><br>I've noticed that both the Orb and Orbital have one.
Orbital have used it on "Satan"<br><br>Anyone else know
who uses one?<br><br>Cheers<br>Reef Bob
