Re: [lambchop] The Decline

hey sean h., and other interest-group members:

i like the new compilation. some songs i have not
heard. most seem to be 'thriller' timeframe 1997,
moving into later 'nixon' material. i also enjoyed
the alternative versions of some of the songs. i had
been able to find some of the rare cd's at new/used cd
stores in my area, so i was familar with some.

i have to tell my story of seeing the band 3/17/02 in
los angeles at 'the knitting factory' in hollywood on
the 'is a woman' tour. the next day, i drove back
home to az, stopped near palm springs, from my
vehicle, heard live RADIO broadcast from kcrw 'morning
becomes eclectic.' later, heard the webcast
many-a-time. great website with lots of music:
'kcrwmusic.com.' (click 'morning becomes eclectic.')

getting back to the 1997 'thriller' material, it
included some f.m. cornog songs. f.m. cornog is
associated with 'east river pipe,' also on the MERGE
label. great stuff---i wish lambchop played more
covers of songs by f.m. cornog of 'east river pipe.'
(new cd 'east river pipe 2006:' 'WHAT ARE YOU ON?')

i must tell about my first exposure to lambchop---a
ktel compilation 'alt.country exposed roots,' first
song from the band i heard was 'the saturday option.'
i have been to 3 'chop concerts, all in los angeles.
my fantasy is to be able to attend some concerts in
europa. i wish they'd come to az--good music scene in
tucson especially. includes 'calexico' with whom
lambchop once toured with, and counts mr paul niehaus
as a member.

looking forward to the next lambchop cd.

best regards, john c. in az.

So, what do people think of the new compilation? I was initially pretty annoyed that the band released another best of/rarities compilation, but after...
