Brother Mike's Musings... by Mike Larkin 'As the evening sky faded
from a salmon color to a sort of flint gray, I thought back to the
salmon I caught that morning, and how gray he was, and how I named
him Flint.'
Helloo all...
Vacations are over and while it is close to the start of the school
year it is also the time of year that festival season goes into full
force.
This weekend we play at Irishfest-LaCrosse(Wi) (www.irishfestlax.org)
on Saturday Aug 11 at 8:15 PM and Sunday Aug 12 at 3:30 PM at Quillan
Main Stage. It's a great fest and a great town!
Next weekend we appear at Milwaukee Irishfest (www.irishfest.com) on
Saturday Aug 18 @ 8:45 PM at the Snug Stage. Milwaukee Irishfest is
the biggest and right on Lake Michigan.
Tommy Makem (1932-2007)
Looking at the framed Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem Tradition
Records LP on the wall of our Castlegregory Recording Studio (and my
son Jimmy's toy room) signed by Tommy Makem, we are saddened by his
passing last week.
Tommy and the Clancys are the fathers of all Irish Folk Music. There
isn't a band or artist (from Christy Moore, The Pogues, The Saw
Doctors and of course us) who doesn't recognise their influence on
what they do.
He was a great guy to talk to at Festivals and without him most may
not exist. Let's all have a pint to a real original.
'Seven Drunken Nights' Trip to Ireland
'Oh as I walked home on Monday night, as drunk as drunk can be...'
We should be getting published air rates soon for our June 2008 '
Seven Drunken Nights' Tour of Ireland. Space is filling up so please
contact Mary Ann Coon @ mactravel@... soon. Remember the
land rate increases to $1399 after September 15 so book now. The
land rate includes breakfast and dinner every day. After vacationing
in San Diego this past week, 'That's a deal!'

Our new CD 'Paddy' continues to be received and sell well. While we
will have a way to purchase on the new site, you can get this CD (as
well as Band o' Brothers and Live at the Kerry Piper) at the
following locations.
www.rampantlion.com (also have a store in Villa Park)
www.irishboutique.com (Or Paddy on the Square with a store in Long
Grove IL)
We are also toying with the idea on re-releasing our first two CDs
(The Larkin Brothers - And the Band Played On and the Larkin Brothers
and Terry Moran - Bogs, Vallies and Faerie rings) together on one.
Let us know if you are interested in that piece of history.
That's all for this blog (cool web talk)...
