Brother Mike's Musings... by Mike Larkin 'A leader without a sense of
humor is like a grass cutter at a cemetery. You have a lot of people
under you paying absolutely no attention.'
On the Road...
We spent the last two weekends on the road first in LaCrosse and then
in Milwaukee for their Irish Fests weekends. We enjoy this part of
the year because we get to see other bands and touch base with new
people as well as old friends we haven't seen in a while.
It's also where we come back with a few good stories like Dan Jr.
standing, I repeat, standing in line at the Hardee's after a few
drinks and taking a good amount of abuse from the carload of women in
back of him. They were nice enough to give him a ride home which was
great since we found out the next day that the Hardee's is about 2
miles from the hotel. When we asked him why he walked so far he said
he was really hungry. He bought 10 cheeseburgers to the session in
the hotel and felt really stupid when he found out the next morning
that there is a Burger King about a block away in the opposite
direction. Kids today....
LaCrosse was a blast. They really do an excellent job and the people
are great.
Milwaukee was fantastic for us since we had a covered stage but a bit
of a wash out from all the rain we had (and continue to have this
week) this past weekend. The Emerald Society was kind enough to
shuttle us to and from the hotel. On the way back we sang for the
people on the last bus from the fest. It wasn't supposed to be the
last one but with all the rain the 11:30 PM bus (that we were on)
didn't leave until after Midnight as we waited for two women who were
the only ones still inside the fest due to the rain.
We are receiving photos from these fest and have been posting them on
our myspace site - www.myspace.com/thelarkinandmoranbrothers. There
are also pictures being posted at
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/larkinandmoranbrothers/ site.
Our web site www.celticratpack.com is still being revamped but when
it is we will be posting on there as well.
On the Road continues...
...this weekend at Erin Feis on the Riverfront in Peoria IL
(www.stpatpeoria.com) This is the first time we have played this
fest. I did attend it once and I can tell you the people of Peoria
know how to party. We play on Friday Night Aug 24 at 9:30 PM and
Saturday Night Aug 25 at 9:45 PM on the North Stage.
