Brother Mike's Musing... By Mike Larkin.... 'Sign in an Irish pub:
This establishment closes at 11 o'clock sharp. We are open from 10
a.m. until 11 p.m. and if you haven't had enough to drink at that
hour the management feels that you haven't really been trying..."
Helloo All....
The big weekend is finally upon us (my liver is saying 'and not too
soon') and we have some big shows lined up as well as TV and Radio
appearances.
Friday March 14
Tomorrow morning (between 7:30 AM and 9 AM) we be appearing on
FoxNews Chicago with Patrick Elwood at Brother Rice HS in support of
St Baldrick's Day. St Baldrick's is a foundation that collects money
for Cancer research by having people solicit pledges to shave their
heads.
I know Mike was contemplating shaving his head until he looked in the
mirror with a turtle neck on and pictured himself looking like uncle
Fester from the Adams Family. Maybe Joe would like to.....
Then it's off to my house where we will eat breakfast and sleep (did
I really just type that?) to get ready to play for....
.... the largest St Patrick's Day Party in Chicago - Forever Green
(www.youngirish.com). This event starts at 5 PM and is located in
the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier. We should start at about 5:30 PM.
This show is a blast--- Katie, Get ready to Shimmy!!!
Saturday March 15 (Official St Patrick's day this year)
After I take a shower, read the paper, fix the headlights on my Jeep
and look into 2 new garage door openers that decided to break at the
same time this winter (why do I keep typing mundane things about my
life?)....
.... we'll play an afternoon session at the new Tommy Nevin's Pub in
Naperville (www.tommynevins.com) at 4 to 7 PM. It's a fantastic
place so join us after the downtown parade.
Then it's time to drive like hell (obeying all speed limits of course
Officer Flores) to...
..... our annual appearance at the St. Patrick's Day Kerry Piper Tent
Show (www.kerrypiper.com) for a 9 PM start. This show is one of our
highlights every year and thousands will agree. One year Mike was
even able to crowd surf (and he's not light) !!
Monday March 17 (Actual St Patrick's Day)
I really don't have time to do anything that morning except shower
because it's off ....
...to the Steve Dahl Show (www.dahl.com) between 5:30 - 10 AM on Jack
FM 104.3 and a party at Phil Stefani's Riva Restaurant on Navy Pier.
Come on down as they will be serving a complementary Irish Breakfast
as we perform for Steve's remote St Pat's Show. I know Mike and Joe
will both be up to eating alot of black pudding. For you
overachievers they will have Green Beer!!
After being on with the Stever we will have time for a short nap at
Kevin's West Side Flat then it's out South to Frankfort and an
afternoon show at ...
...the Galway Tribes (www.thegalwaytribes.com) between 4 and 7 PM.
Niall Fryne is always a cordial host and the food is fantastic.
Finally we travel close to home for a annual tradition at Corrigan's
Pub in Chicago's Mount Greenwood Neighborhood to close out the
weekend. We start at 9 PM but you may want to get thier early for a
good seat.
That's all,
Slainte
