Brother Mike's Musings... by Mike Larkin... ' I figured it out. The
average North American spends eight months of his life watching beer
commercials...'
Hellooo...
It has taken until today to get enough energy to type an update.
There is so much news to report that I need to
focus...zzzz....focus...zzzz....
Uh... that's better, I like power naps....
Next Weekend
We have a long awaited return to the Carraig Pub
(www.chicagogaelicpark.org/carraig_pub/Carraig_Pub.htm) on Friday
March 28 at 9 PM. Tadgh O'Reilly (Carraig Manager) is back as well.
Get ready Mel!!
On Sunday March 30 at 2:30 PM we will play at Billy Grant Memorial
Benefit @ 115 Bourbon Street (www.grantbenefit.com/ ). Billy was a
Chicago Fireman killed on the job in March 2007 in a collision on the
way to a fire. I understand this benefit will actually close 115
Bourbon Street for the day (thousands expected) because of it's
size. They have off site parking, however, and shuttles so please
come out.
St. Patrick Weekend Highlights
Mike was a hit on FOX News Chicago coverage (Thanks to Patrick Elwood
of FOX News) of St. Baldrick's Day as he shave his sons Mickey and
Conor's head. It was carried on the national news over the weekend.
Partying at Forever Green and the Emerald Loop after our set on
Friday March 14.
Having a fantastic set at our annual Kerry Piper Tent Show on
Saturday March 15 only to have our van stolen (really) for five
hours. Unbelieveably it was returned with nothing missing....
( On a side note the Kerry Piper put us up at the Super 8 across the
street from the pub. Many people from the show stay at the hotel
complex surronding the pub so there is plenty of after show parties
at the hotels.
A couple of Finnbarr (Dan Jr's) friends stayed with us and I of
course fell asleep, Mike went to file a police report, the Moran's
fell asleep in their room so Danny, Joe and Artie had a couple of
drinks with a bunch a people down the hall. Danny's friend Joe
Martinez stayed in the other bed in the room watching television.
Joe Larkin returned a few minutes later takes off his pants and
instead of climbing in bed with his sleeping brother (in his boxers
mind you) he climbs in bed with Joe Martinez who proceeds to freak
out-
"What are you doing?!!?" he shouts at Joe Martinez.
"This is how I always sleep!" replies Joe Larkin.
He continues... "Why what sheets are you under?")
Great time at the Steve Dahl Show on March 17 morning watching the
homeless take advantage of a free meal and singing 'It's Peanut
Butter Jelly Time' for Comcast Sports' Pat Boyle. Seriously I
couldn't believe how many people were there at the start of the show
which is 5:30 AM.
Being asked by Mike Dahl to sing a spot for Comcast Sportsnet 'Is a
fan's best friend...' I don't know if they will actually play it (we
weren't drunk yet), we'll see....
Sleeping at Terry's house after the Dahl Show.
The crowds at the Galway Tribes and Corrigan's were incredible.
There was still a line at Corrigan's at 10:30 PM. For a Monday
night....
T-Shirts Are In!!
You need to picture the band van on Friday afternoon March 14 meeting
the Shirt guy at Roosevelt & State to pick up the most recent shirts
on the way to Forever Green at Navy Pier. They look really cool and
will be on sale at every show.
Web Site Functionality Returns- Tons of New Pictures Being Posted
We solve the recent web site issues and have been updating our web
site www.celticratpack.com as well as
www.myspace.com/thelarkinandmoranbrothers. We still have more
pictures to post but we have put up quite a few in the last couple of
days. If you have anymore picture please e-mail them to me.
