Brother Mike's Musings... by Mike Larkin ' If toast always lands
butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if
you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?'

Helloo all

For the first time since 1998 the band is playing in April. In past
years we gave our livers a rest in April and Mike usually ended up at
the Betty Ford clinic convincing the rich and famous that he has
reformed only to turn into 'Frank the Tank' screaming, "It's so good
when it touches the lips!" on May 1.

This year we decided to temp fate and we are pulling double duty on
Saturday April 12. We play at Purdue University - Calumet at 2 PM in
Hammond IN for their Irish Fest.

Later that night we return to Quigley's Pub in Oak Lawn at 9 PM
(111th & Pulaski) to rock the house.

New Pictures & Song

I have been posting many new pictures from the March season on both
our site www.celticratpack.com and our Myspace.com site
www.myspace.com/thelarkinandmoranbrothers. We also have a preview of
a new song from the next CD called- The Tropical Drink Song. Many
Steve Dahl fans will recognize it. It my favorite song of his.
Let's just say it sounds more Irish than Tropical but as Steve always
says, 'It's an Island...."

Also a plug for are Yahoo Groups Site-
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/larkinandmoranbrothers/. We
have this one up as well and it is really interactive to post
comments and pictures. Like Michelle said - We need more people on
yahoo!!

What's In a Name

We recently posted a photo of us in front of a billboard of us that
promoted a show we did in LaSalle last March. The only mistake on
the photo was the name of the band as it has us listed as 'The Larkin
Brothers Band'. I been asked if we have changed our name but we are
still the Larkin and Moran Brothers.

The mistake is common but nontheless is always a beef with the Moran
brothers (mainly Terry). Short band history lesson-

When we first started (late 1995) we were known as The Larkin
Brothers & Terry Moran. Terry and Joe were 21 years old then and
Terry was in a Rock band as well. After about two years Terry took a
hiatus (amiable with an open door) to concentrate on the rock band.
We call this 'his dark period'.

At the same time the now renamed 'The Larkin Brothers' started
catching on a little. We recorded our first CD and start playing
better places. Every once and awhile Terry would join in and it
always sounded better with him but his heart was in rock n roll at
the time.

While we were recorded our second CD Terry helped out with about half
the tracks including a lead vocal on the Mingulay Boat Song. It was
becoming more and more likely he would return. He still wasn't'
committing but had ask for an acknowledgement on the CD. That's why
the second CD "Bogs, Valleys & Faerie Rings" is by The Larkin
Brothers (with special guest Terry Moran).

It was shortly afterward in March of 1999 that Terry returned
permanently (and was welcome with open arms) and we were again called
the Larkin Brothers & Terry Moran. Even after Mike Murphy joined in
on bass in May of 2000 we retained that name.

When Mike Murphy left (May of 2002) we were without a bass player.
Mike Larkin suggested Terry's brother Kevin. When Kevin joined,
Terry wanted a name change. I was worried about changing it again (
for marketing reasons) and suggested Larkin Brothers Moran. Terry
though that was crap (and looking at it later I agree) and suggested
the current name.

Murph has since returned (mostly) from his 'lost weekend'.

Even when we had our original name Terry's name was often left off or
misspelled (once we were billed at The Larkin Brothers and Jerry
Morgan) so he's lived with it since the beginning.

Most people call us The Larkin and Moran Brothers these days. I
still don't know why after six years it get screwed up but it does.

That's all for now -

Slainte!!
