Brother Mike's Musings... by Mike Larkin - "To me, boxing is like a
ballet, except there's no music, no choreography, and the dancers hit
each other..."
Heelllooo-
I finally have enough energy to type after my brief stint in the
Betty Ford Clinic after the St Patrick's Day Festivities.
We had a great time and want to thank the over 5000 people who saw us
on March 16th and 17th (at Forever Green and The Kerry Piper), we had
a blast.
We also were listen to hundreds of thousands of listeners on 'The
Steve Dahl Show' (www.dahl.com) on March 16th as well as the internet
listening public on such great shows as Paddy Rock Radio
(www.paddyrock.com).
Steve Dahl has even helped to dub your Celtic Rat Pack as the "Jimmy
Buffets" of Irish Music!!
Next Weekend
We end our March tour next weekend in Palatine for a Park District
concert. Details are at www.palatineparkdistrict.com. Concert
begins next Friday March 30 at 8 PM. On Saturday March 31st, we play
the Mission for Meghan Benefit at U.S. Cellular Field. The benefit
starts at 6 PM, details at www.missionformeghan.org.
That's all I have for this week.

Ride to Wheaton was uneventful although long. Muldoons is pretty
small. I'm not sure we would play there again just due to the size
although the people were great.
The voice has finally returned. Mike's voice was failing on Friday
night at the Navy Pier show. I need to go to rehab...

Hellooo All....
It's what we call the 'High Holy Days' or what Joe calls his 'pre
rehab days' but every March is better than the last. This year
promises to be the best yet. It has been pointed out by Tribune that
some great Irish acts are bringing their sound to Chicago this St.
Patrick's Day Season like the Saw Doctors and Gaelic Storm. Someone
else pointed out to me that our two shows on March 16th and 17th will
outdraw all bands on a two day period. We also are set to return to
the air wave to Chicago's #1 Radio program 'The Steve Dahl Show' on
March 16th. Things are good.

On an October day when Steve was getting out of an Irish Music
benefit due to the Monday Night Football Game against the Arizona
Cardinals, Steve commented ' I won't even have the Larkin and Moran

call by brother Joe. Well, we will be back on FreeFM 105.9. You

I was planning to go but laid down for a quick nap on Saturday afternoon due to being strangely wiped out and didn't wake up until Sunday 3pm. Even then, I was only up for two hours before going back to bed until 8am today. I hate being sick like this. Oif! Next time!
I was there. So was Kathleen with me, her friend Sam, Dan3, Lee,
Kiersten/Adrienne/Erika (Prodigals/Elders fans).....and the biggest
surprise of all - SPONGEBOB!
Was anyone else there from here?
Kathleen taped the whole show. What a fun night! Really great
time!
Larkin's did announce that they will be at the Navy Pier Forever
Green event on Fri March 16 and at Nevin's in Evanston on Sat, St
Pat's day at 11:30AM!
Their full St. Pats schedule:
Saturday the 17th - Tommy Nevins Pub-
Evanston, Il. 11:30 AM
Saturday the 17th - Muldoon's - 133 west Front St
Weaton, Il. 4:00pm.
Saturday the 17th - Kerry Piper - 7900 Joliet Road
Willowbrook, Il. 10:00pm.
Should be interesting. Probably the earliest they have ever
performed! But I guess same owner for all 3 of these places!
I will probably try to be at Nevin's.....

Hellooo... and Happy New Year!!
This year's for me and you. I hope eveyone had a safe and healthy
holiday. We were sadden by the death of Gerald Ford over the
holidays. Mike however is looking at it differently since he has
been to the Betty Ford Center so frequently. If you ask me he has
always had a thing for the former first lady and I'm afraid he may
start drinking harder. Please Mike, make it through March!!
This Weekend
We play at Bally Doyle Pub in Downers Grove www.ballydoylepub.com
this Saturday January 6 at 9 PM. It's a great place so join us for
our first show of the new year. Remember the new year brings out our
annual tuning, so caught us while we are still in key!
Resolutions
The new year also brings out resolutions. I had a talk to brother
Joe about his resolution, Here is what he had to say:
Dan: Happy New Year, Joe, could you tell us about your resolution
this year?
Joe: Yes it's my new approach to a healthy life style, no exercise!
D: No exercise? I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong
life. Is'nt this true?
J: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it. Don't
waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up
your heart will not make you live longer. That's like saying you can
extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live
longer? Take a nap.
****************************************************
D: Well that an interesting approach. Should I cut down on meat and
eat more fruits and vegetables?
J: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay
and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more
than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system.
Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass
(green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your
recommended daily allowance of vegetable slop.
****************************************************
D: Is beer or wine bad for me?
J: Look, it goes to the earlier point about fruits and vegetables. As
we all know, scientists divide everything in the world in to three
categories: animal, mineral, and vegetable. We all know that beer and
wine are not animal, and they are not on the periodic table of
elements, so that only leave one thing, right? My advice: Have a
burger and a beer and enjoy your liquid vegetables.
****************************************************
D: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
J: Well, if you have a body, and you have body fat, your ratio is one
to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
*****************************************************
D: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular
exercise program?
J: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No
Pain?....Good.
******************************************************
D: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
J: You're not listening. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil.
In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables
be bad for you?
*******************************************************
D: What's the secret to healthy eating?
J: Thicker gravy.
*******************************************************
D: Will sit-ups prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?
J: Definitely not! ! ! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger.
You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
*******************************************************
D: Is chocolate bad for me?
J: Are you crazy? HELLO . ... . Cocoa beans . . . another
vegetable! ! ! "It's the best feel-good food around."
********************************************************
J- Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have
had about food and diets. Have a cookie . . . flour is a veggie! ! !
One more thing . . . "When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and
salt."
See you Soon,

We love Turkey!!
Brother Mike's Musings... By Mike Larkin... 'He who laughs last-
thinks the slowest....
Hellooo All-
It been awhile since we have been able to send out an update. Of
course I'm lazy and I usually only do this to announce a show. I
probably should just write something clever every now and then but
oh well...
We are playing this upcoming Wednesday night November 22nd at the
Kerry Piper - www.kerrypiper.com. It a tradition every Thanksgiving
to start drinking a night earlier and it probably contributes to
everyone eating more Turkey the next day. The show starts at 9 PM.
Paddy
The upcoming CD is being mixed and mastered finally after some delay
but we are excited about this. We have given up on getting it done
before the Holiday but it does look good for February. We will be
announcing a CD release party soon so stay tuned.
March Schedule
The March Schedule is filling up and we have posted much of it. We
should have some big announcements shortly.
That's all for today- Next update will have much more news but
until then

I know I have been promising for over a year but it should be done by
the new year. We have hit a snag on the final mix. The person who
did this for the last two CDs and whom we trust is unavailable at the
moment. On the one hand we can find sombody else and we are trying
but we are currently in a holding pattern.
