New Releases since 6/29/2005 (14 items)
======================================
A Bloody Occurrence - s/t (CDR) - Drama $12.00
schizoide, belgian famous guitar destroyer raging against electronic
sillyness produced by his beloved 'sharki', known from crack w.a.r.
and tarantism. its all about friends and frustrations actually.
coreleased with audiobot and x+z=0
Baczkowski-Corsano-Flaherty - the dim bulb (CD) - Wet Paint $10.00
"Baritone player Steve Baczkoski hails from Buffalo, rides his bike
to gigs with his horn on his back (it's a baritone for Christ's
sake!), and wails harder than most sax players either 1/2 or double
his age or anywhere in between. This is a live recording of a this
trio's first show, May 31st, 2003." - Corsano/Flaherty .....
"Flaherty and his saxophones are a subterranean legend in the
kingdoms of the north. Since the 'In the Midst of Chaos' LP was
recorded, back in the mid '70s, Paul has been a persistent roar in
the distance - pervading the aura of the region's improvisational
underground, whilst eschewing its spotlights. Chris Corsano is one of
the most immensely talented drummers to have emerged from the recent
past. Those who have witnessed the giganticism of his formal leaps in
the jaws of post-avant-garde power surging, have been left slack w/
the wonder & hilarity of it all." - Byron Coley
Bjerga / Iversen - buring the light at both ends (CDR) - Carbon
Records $8.00
36+ min of desperate transmissions from a desolate place. a
collaboration including Sindre Bjerga, the man behind the amazing Gold
Soundz label (Norway) and Jans-M Iversen, the man behind the, equally
amazing, Tibprod label (also from Norway). [from the Carbon

Dark Inside the Sun - Chattanooga (CDR) - Drama $12.00
"Ever wondered how albino rats playing jazz funk greats, would
sound ? Second street to the left and you're halfway out there...
Dark Inside The Sun bark primitive in the pure songwriter rattling
bone style. A crackling array of wounded instruments that jump like
ants out of the pants. Smelly drumsticks, broken casio and a
delirious craftmanship of hysteric love songs. Even lower than the
whale turd at the bottom of the sea... Strongly affilitated with
Western Mass psychos Yeay!. Packaged in phat silkscreened fold-out
covers by none other than Drama chief Jelle Crama. Limited to 150
copies, if memory card still works..." - carlo steegen
gareth dawson and righard kapp - PUIN (CDR) - One Minute Trolley $10.00
"the next album released on one minute trolley dash is PUIN, by
myself and gareth dawson, bass player for the Wild Eyes. what
initially started out as a noise jam ended up being some of the most
picturesque, evocative pieces i've had the pleasure of participating
in. there's noise, to be sure, but there is also narrative unity held
together by a dynamic range that shifts from peaceful lulls to
absolute chaos. we commissioned the extremely talented photographer
jaco minnaar to take pictures of railways and cargo trucks, which
describe the desolate spaces that these recordings evoke. "
Pumice - Worldwide Skull (CDR) - Audiobot $10.00
this is one of my favorite records of 2005, and maybe of all time,
and i just got it a couple weeks ago. an amazing collection of
essentially pop/folk songs, but done is the most perfect way. both
recording technique, style, etc. reminds me of some DeadC song-stuff.
i believe the guy behind this is from Australia, maybe New Zealand.
amazing stuff. when i first got it, i listened to it every day, for 5
days straight. -- carbon joe
righard kapp - traces: 2003-2004 (CDR) - One Minute Trolley $10.00
the bulk of the material on traces was recorded in sound artist james
webb's flat in june 2004, while a couple of tracks recorded late 2003
were added on by virtue of fitting the general mood of the later
recordings. at the time of recording these i was quite interested in
the idea of rendering the guitar almost unrecognizable - using the
instrument as a source for sounds that are not necessarily
guitarlike. consequently much of the album consists of sustained
swells, noise from the jack input and disembodied fragments of notes
captured on the loop sampler. the general tone of the album is one of
delicately unfolding soundscapes. my personal pick of the lot is the
final track, which was recorded during an otherwise disastrous gig -
it has an almost otherworldly beauty to it. the album is printed up
in an edition of 115. the artwork is an extension of my main
preoccupation in my visual work, which is to extend drawing onto the
axis of depth.
Seht - Application Antarctica Download Form (CD) - Celebrate Psi
Phenomenon $15.00
"Brrrrr, its gettin cold in here... don't fall asleep ‘cause you may
never wake up. Like its namesake, ‘Antarctica...' comes on like a
vast cathedral of suspended ice-prongs dripping out action at a pace
roughly comparable to the formation of a glacier. Natures fractured
architecture pixelated and amplified through the green luminescence
of night vision goggles... almost TOO beautiful to be real? My
esteemed friends, this hugely confident release falls well inside the
parameters of ‘effortless' and represents a pinnacle of sensual,
hypothermic dream-states. File under ‘Near Death'."
skrummasjien - s/t (CDR) - One Minute Trolley $10.00
the first collection of recordings from mark and righard's irreverent
attention deficit noise rock duo is a capricious affair, shifting
from surf rock to feedback squall to stadium rock to thrash metal at
the drop of a hat. the album is comprised of live recordings and
rehearsal tapes - every extract is presented as it was recorded. it
races through 17 tracks in 35-odd minutes, and visits every place
from the anthemic (tracks 3,4) to the sublime (tracks 14, 16) to the
ridiculous (tracks 9, 11, 13) to the downright brutal (tracks 7, 15,
17) in the process. this album is printed in an edition of 100 copies
Sun City Girls - Folk Songs of the Rich And Evil/Exotica on $5 a Day
(0) - eclipse $18.00
"The fourth volume in the Cloaven cassette reissue program. This one
begins with Folk Songs of the Rich and Evil -- recordings from 1985
-- 'Tragedy is comedy as this diabolical collection of essay-lecture
monologue songs will prove. How far this journey takes you from the
supposed values of our world depends entirely on when you stop the
tape. All tracks recorded whenever, here and there, written,
improvised or hijacked by Sun City Girls at will.' As usual, some
tracks have been edited out from the original tape release but there
is also an unreleased track included on this album taken from the
recording sessions back in 1985. The second album is Exotica on $5 a
Day -- 'The Terrorism Music is made of. This tape is ethnic
eccentricity at its most fragrant, but don't forget that many
foreigners despise Americans. Recorded in a kitchen, side rooms, etc.
in 1985 -- except '9 Sides of Air' and 'Ride Nomad Burn!' recorded
1983 in a hallway. Some instruments on 'It's Ours' courtesy
UNICEF.' Limited edition of 1000 copies."
Suzukiton - service repair handbook (CD) - Crucial Blast $10.00
"Service Repair Handbook is the introductory unveiling of fine-tuned,
tightly-wound instrumental heaviness from Richmond, VA riff-
technicians SUZUKITON. Executing an elaborate schematic of
progressive, technical musicianship and earth-shaking rock
propulsion, Service Repair Handbook delivers an onslaught of
anthemic, pulverizing tuneage that intersects math metal, heavy prog,
and stoner rock. Features both former and current members of Relapse
Records artist ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY. "
Totimoshi - Mysterioso (CD) - Crucial Blast $10.00
"¿Mysterioso? , the second full length from Oakland, CA-based trio
TOTIMOSHI, intersects earthquake-heavy rock and wicked sludge riffage
with the wiry hooks and dynamics of 80's post-punk / new wave,
Spanish melodies, and an adventurous, occasionally improvisational
fuzz attack. It's like someone gave an old Beggars Banquet band a
cocktail of steroids, huge amps, and battered copies of Melvins'
Stoner Witch and Mainliner's Mellow Out. Heavy, crunchy,
catchy, hypnotic - ¿Mysterioso? winds, grinds, and explodes every step
of the way. This re-issued, re-tooled version features enhanced CD-
ROM extras, including video , photos, and more.."
Various Artists - Counter Fit Fest TSHIRT (TSHIRT) - Carbon Records
$10.00
The 2005 Counter Fit Fest TSHIRT, beige on white shirt, with the CFF
fly logo on the front, and the full list of perfomers on the back,
including Carlos Giffoni, Howard Stelzer, Pengo, Coffee, Blood and
Bone Orchestra, Emil Beaulieau, Urknee and Bjurton Russell, Bernhard
