if you're familiar with Keith Fullerton Whitman's label Entschuldigen
label, this is the font he used for his official logo (i loved the
logo so much, i had to use that font. i pretty much wear my
Entschuldigen hoodie everyday). it looks like vines growing in and
out of the letters, which are an old-english looking type. these
shirts are light brown (almost drab-green) with cream ink.

Artist: John Charlton
Title: Walking the Red Road
Format: CDR
Label: Carbon Records
Price: $8.00
Catalog ID: CR147
This is John's first full-length on Carbon, with, i'm sure, more to
come. former member/cohort of TenTon (now in Chicago), John lives in
the Boston area and records all sorts of sounds, guitars, tibeten
bowls, cymbals, strings, etc. he was featured on the Carbon 3CD
compilation I Don't Think the Dirt Belongs to the Grass and won this
praise from Keith Fullerton Whitman: "there’s something on here for
everyone... and in fact you might end up, like myself, enjoying just
about everything on this set, from the pieces by the names you know/
trust to those by otherwise unknowns (for example; i didn’t know john
charlton’s name, but his acoustic guitar/tibetan singing bowls/wine
glasses piece on here ended up being one of my favorite pieces.)".
This full length is a study in guitar, from repetitive/looping
acoustic and clean electric with incidental backgrounds, to busy
hammering/drumming/droning on an acoustic, to warbly electric mood
(ala LMC), to full-on saturated noise/drone. to m
irror KFW's comment, something for everyone. [packaged in heavy vinyl
sleeve with handmade red and gold paper and spray-painted CD]
Artist: Christopher Reeg

showcasing Chris' skills on double bass, keyboard/synth, guitar and
melodica, as well as other random instruments. with help from some of
his Blood and Bone Orchestra band-mates, Jim Colby, Ed Downey and
Darren DeWisperlaere, Chris lays down 8 perfectly crafted pieces (28+
min) ranging from abstract drone/textural scapes, melodic
instrumentals, to outsider keyboard/sampling/bass/sax improv, and
finally rounding things out with a angular rock gem. [packaged in a
kraft Arigato folded sleeve with 2 color artwork by Chris and
silkscreened by Alex Schmidt] (Chris also plays in Blood and Bone
Orchestra, The Years, Ada le O, Entente Cordiale, Crush the Junta,

======================================
Black Bimbo - s/t (CASS) - Reverse Mouth $6.00
"Released January 2007. Black laser printing on yellow paper, stamped
& handnumbered. Art by eyeshite." C30 limited to 50
Blastocyst - True Tales For A New American Century (CDR) - Phase! $8.00
"Drums & Bass madness from NY's noise duo Blastocyst (members of
Paper Legs, George Steeltoe Ensemble, Cakes Of Light, et al). True
patriots, indeed, they praise the true beast of the American Dream w/
low frequency cluttering and brain damaged percussion. Total chaos!
Handpainted w/ acrylic stains heavy covers w/ paste-on photography
and inners."
Chris Corsano and Mick Flower duo - the radiant mirror (CD) - Textile
$16.50
"Chris Corsano has gained a well-earned reputation as one of the
hardest-working drummers around. Equally at home with intense kinetic
explosions of energy and concentrated near-silence, he effortlessly
flows from one idea to the next, always sympatico with his fellow
musicians. He has recorded and gigged with, among others, Paul
Flaherty, Thurston Moore, Jessica Rylan, Jim O Rourke, Nels Cline,
Jandek, Greg Kelly, Daniel Carter, Six Organs of Admittance, Evan
Parker, Sunburned Hand Of Man, MV&EE, Keiji Haino, Dredd Foole,
Vampire Belt, Joe McPhee, Carlos Giffoni, Christina Carter and
Heather Leigh Murray. Mick is the founding member of the British
avant garde collective Vibracathedral Orchestra, one of the most
seminal UK acts in the free music scene pioneering an approach that
has influenced a tribe of other outsiders. Mick occasionaly plays
with Sunroof and Sunburned Hand of The Man. "
David Kendall's Difference Quartet - s/t (CDR) - Macro-Eden $6.00
"The Difference Quartet marks the beginning of a new direction for
David Kendall: graphic scores. Written for 4 players, the piece is
notated by a computer screen which slowly shifts between lighter and
darker shades of gray. The recording is not rough, but it is gritty;
ambient city noises drift in from outside, giving this particular
recording an incredibly personal, almost meditative feel. Edition of
100. Pacakaged in a black digipak, white spraypaint stencil on the
front"
Deciduous vs Conifer - leaves and needles (CDR) - Carbon Records $10.00
2 tracks, totally 50+ minutes. DvsC is a trio consisting of R. Scott
Oliver, Chris Reeg (Blood and Bone Orchestra, Entente Cordiale, Crush

is." [laser cut wooden cover with the DvsC logo, image behind the cut-
out, with the CDR inserted into an adhesive backed vinly sleeve]
Gastric Female Reflex and Crank Sturgeon - s/t (7inch) - Bennifer
Editions $5.00
"on one side, torontosaurs gastric female reflex expose their
vulnerable underbellies by offering the gift of song, as transmitted
through the cackle of thirty meter bronze age jump ropes, and then
swatted with limitless spools of tape culled from businessmens
faculty tape recorders. the flipside is deepwoods maine-based crank
sturgeon, taking a similar story and running it into the side of a
convent full of shark-eating nuns. setting loose the angry hornets,
these ladies of the lord respond with high powered leaf blowers,
stopping now and again to play a little violin and pee in their dixie-
cups. not your typical avant "electro-acoustic" record, both projects
assure this baby can dance like a school of fish, drunk on mercury
and TAB cola perhaps, but to an effect that is glorious and spacious;
snakey and experimental as all hairy heck, yet an electro-doot we can
all blorp and weeze and get primative with."
Hush Arbors - under bent limb trees (2CD) - Digitalis Industries $20.00
"Keith Wood and his Hush Arbors project had a good year in 2006.
After multiple solo tours and stints with Wooden Wand & the Vanishing
Voice, his first CD and LP were released earlier in the year. He
ended the year relocating to England and plying his trade across the
pond. With all this in mind, it was decided that a re-release of his
first full-length for Digitalis was in order, and thus this expanded
version of "Under Bent Limb Trees" was born. Keith Wood concocts
massive emotional releases in his head and transfers them to tape
using the most organic means possible. Bowed dulcimer, singing bowl,
banjo, and a his trademark falsetto dot the horizon of this majestic
album. This graceful and subdued music has been extracted from the
earth and laden with golden spirits. This two CD set, housed in
gatefold cardboard jackets, is the perfect embodiment of Wood's
delicate take on shy melancholia that has one foot in the forest and
one on a log fire, burning with passion. His exper
ience as the go-to guy of not only Ben Chasny (Six Organs of
Admittance) but Massachussets God-botherers Sunburned Hand of the Man
for live appearances has clearly set him in good stead for his own
recordings, and this collection only serves to magnify his deft
talent and unique voice. Disc one features the whole of "Under Bent
Limb Trees," newly remastered and sounding better than ever. The real
prize is in the second disc, which features out-of-print, rare, and
unreleased tracks culled from Wood's own collection and various
limited and obscure releases."
John Wiese - Magical Crystal Blah Volume 2 (CDR) - Helicopter $8.00
Kelli Shay Hicks - Buck Again (CD) - Carbon Records $10.00
“A needle in one arm and a bouquet in the other”. This is Kelli
Shay's first full-length album. The thirteen tracks here were
recorded in 2005 in Chicago with Butchy Fuego of Pit er Pat. Buck
Again is not unlike Kelli's live performances in its sparseness, but

Knurl - Subluxation (CDR) - Wintage $8.00
"comes in a deluxe metal tin spryed down in mettalic blue car paint
discs have a very nice black on black splatter effect ltd. ed.100"
Le peuplier de simon - cheers to the seasons (CD) - Digitalis
Industries $10.00
"Simon Belair hails from Montreal, PQ and is becoming one of the
province's foremost electronic artists. "Cheers to the Seasons," his
first proper CD, is dually fragile and delicate, while still
remaining organic and invigorating. Belair uses a variety of sources
(field recordings, old vinyl, clarinet, & keyboard), bending and
shaping them into an aural romp through the feeling of an entire
year. Condensed into just 41 minutes, the pace is never hurried, the
music never frenzied in the wrong places, but a perfect balance of
snow falling on fir trees and the magnanimous blooms of summer. Tones
and drones mingle with broken piano dissonance and glitched-out vinyl
samples. Belair's ability to take so much and carve into a shiny,
perfect whole is impressive. Limited to 500 copies and housed in a
tri-fold card sleeves, there's no better way to kick off the magick
of spring. "
Matthew Welch and Craig Colorusso - rusted breath quiet hands (CD) -
Muud $8.00
Matthew welch and Craig Colorusso on alto saxophone and guitar
respectively. droney swells.
Monarch! - Dead Men Tell No Tales (2CD) - Crucial Blast $12.00
"Hailing from the picturesque Northern Basque Country of France,
MONARCH! unleash a slow motion avalanche of impossibly glacial,
blackened sludge and hypnotic feedback, each song a series of epic
tarpit riffage stretched out eternally over lumbering drums and the
cavernous rumble of speaker cabinets. Over these yawning expanses of
black void appears the demonic, throat-shredding shrieks and ghostly
singing of Emilie, whose petite appearance belies one of the harshest
throats in the underground Doom spectrum. Beyond heavy. MONARCH!'s
mega-crawling ambient doom/drone/sludge follows in the grand
tradition of fellow tarpit adventurers Melvins, Corrupted,
Noothgrush, and Black Sabbath, and accompany their music with an
iconoclastic design style that decorates their material with
deceptively cute imagery drawing from the collective influence of
Sanrio, Japanese animation, European graffiti, weirdo hardcore, and
skateboard culture. This double CD set contains both MONARCH!'s newest
album Die Tonight, and the now out-of-print Speak Of The Sea LP, both
released in limited vinyl editions as European imports, with
additional unreleased songs exclusive to this release. The North
Amercian version of Dead Men Tell No Tales is presented in an offset-
printed, 4-panel case printed by Stumptown Printers, with all new
original artwork in the band's unique design style. "
Nihalist Spasm Band / Fossils - split (CASS) - Wintage $10.00
"C-60 The latest installment of the Tape of the Month Club, comes in
an appropriately painted red box w/ No stenciling, comes with No
Europe N.S.B./Fossils posters. Ltd. ed. 100"
Panagiotis Spoulos - Torpor (CDR) - Phase! $8.00
"Psychedelic noise / drone songs, ideal for hypnotherapy. Guaranteed
to force you see surrealistic dreams. The anxiety and the ecstacy,
the man and the journey through the guitar and the voice. Limited to
60, handmade sleeves w/ paste-on photography."
Placenta Popeye - s/t (CDR) - Phase! $8.00
"French noisestars Placenta Popeye offer 8 tracks of total demolition
and breakdown overdose. Using guitars, basses and percussion in the
tradition of early Neubauten, demented vox a la Whitehouse and a
unique blend of all the above, bathed in fear and desperate madness.
Spraypainted, xerox printing on color paper. Limited to 70 w/
numbered obi strips. "
Reverse Mouth / Slasher Risk - split (CASS) - Phase! $6.00
"An Athens-Brooklyn conjoined junk! RM side is a 20-minute track,
"Negative Cutter", a cut-up pastichio full of soundtrackish sounds
and noise wounds. On the other side, SR offers two tracks, "Amrican
Football Fux" and "???", two tracks of healthy free rock sickness and
way destructive mood. Limited to 80 w/ collaborative full color
artwork by the two groups."
Sindre Bjerga and Joe+N - slow collapse / building nature (CDR) -
Carbon Records $8.00
the second in the Joe+N collaboration series (the first being with
Antony Milton. this release consists of six tracks totally 27+
minutes, this is a long-distance collaboration between Sindre Bjerga
(Gold Soundz label man) and Joe+N (aka Joe Tunis, Carbon label man).
the two traded tracks over 2006/2007, Sindre started the recordings

heavy-duty vinyl sleeve with a transluscent red "dimple" cover,
artwork beneath, and wrapped in a band of metallic foil tape.]
softwar - s/t (CD) - Digitalis Industries $12.00
"What could these musicians do after collectively playing on a
million records, releasing a million more, and nurturing a scene that
is both international and inner-visionary? Why not release a record
that is so stunning in its scope and so well executed in its manner
that it defies simple comparisons. Such is the story of Softwar and
this lushly presented gift to our eyes and ears. Focusing on what
could be called more "traditional" rhythm structures, the songs
merely lull you into a false security before melting your brain with
some heavy layers of tone, provided by multiple organs and keyboards.
Softwar is comprised of four essential members of the Jewelled Antler
treehouse. Loren Chasse, fresh from his blistering noise work on
Kyrgyz, shows us a softer but deeper side with these swirling opium-
induced gems. Playing with him are the equally talented Christine
Boepple (also a key part of the Jewelled Antler sound, as well as
Kyrgyz and Whysp), Kerry McLaughlin (who is not o
nly a key contributor to Franciscan Hobbies & the amazing but
somewhat obscure Buried Civilizations, but also a supporting member
of Jason Honea's Shitty Listener and previously played w/ The
Skygreen Leopards) and last, but certainly not least, Franciscan
Hobbyist and Shitty Listener, Geoff Koops. This foursome certainly
keeps busy, but all their other works only help to increase Softwar's
magic. For fans of Thuja and Jewelled Antler (obviously), but also
for those who love the out-there ragas of MV+EE (you’ll just crack a
tooth from smiling over the opener ‘Psychic Shake” or the twisted
noise-hop of Jackie-O Motherfucker, found buried deep in “Immul (the
Children’s Crusade)”. Conceived in a redwood think tank, born in
Golden Gate Park, Prui begins March 2007. Softwar is a thick slab of
fractured voices in harmony and almost unidentifiable sounds,
slipping slowly through the rabbit hole and back out the other side
of the sun. "
Towering Breaker with Dylan Nyoukis - Visions Versions (CDR) -
Blackest Rainbow $10.00
"New collaboration bursts from TB's duo of Jack and Ben with Dylan
Nyoukis, Chocolate Monk label boss and Blood Stereo man. Weird
creeped out noise and vocal sickness. Hits in at over 50 minutes.
Hand numbered edition of 100, with exposed brain panda cover art that
surely the World Wildlife Fund would approve of? "
Various Artists - West Coast Post-Asiatic (LP) - Macro-Eden $11.00
"The term Post Asiatic may come across as another ridiculous entry in
the dictionary of contemporary sub-genre music but the name is the
most appropriate encapsulation for what has easily become the most
interesting musical movement in nearly twenty years. Due to space
limitations the West Coast Post Asiatic compilation fails to include
the majority of artists on the Western Coast of the US who focus on
or dabble in Asian/Eastern influenced avant-garde art. However; it
offers a glimpse into the fierce beauty and embracing expressionism
these artists are conveying. The compilation includes work from Amps
for Christ, Soriah, hop-frog’s drum jester devotional, Auto Da Fe,
Sikhara & Refrigerator Mothers with sound that travels from electric
sitars & winding guitars to tribal animalistic percussion, cyclic
dron-e chanting, gamelan-esque free-spasm metal percussion to dreamy
Chinese dulcimers and moon guitars. The marble vinyl is limited to
505 copies and varies in color. A more in
clusive 2CD compilation featuring Post-Asiatic artists from around
the globe is due out in Summer 2007!"
Various Artists - Sonic Protest 2007 (2CD) - Textile $20.50
2CD compilation for the 2007 Sonic Protest event. features JUSTICE
YELDHAM AND THE DYNAMIC RIBBON DEVICE, BRÖTZMANN / PLIAKAS /
